We Long Islanders love our mega shopping malls and supermarkets, and why not? They’re convenient, abundant, and you can get everything you need with a quick jaunt through the many wings or aisles - as long as you have the mall or aisle map memorized and have a decent sense of direction.

But there’s something to be said about strolling down your local main street and popping in to your small stores. You can’t beat the personalized service and doesn’t it feel good to know that you’re supporting your neighbors by patronizing their businesses? Our main streets wouldn’t be the same if all of the windows were boarded up. And let’s face it, as Long Island still recovers from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, our small LI business owners need all the patronage they can get!
