the update!! is finally!! done!!! holy shit i'm so glad i can finally post this aubdskjg. it was so fun seeing everyone guess what ace was gonna do after the last part! turns out, he can be silly AND pissed! who knew he was so multitalented~ i do wonder though- with the abilities they had when they were 17, who would win in a fight... >:3c

if you're wondering why this update took so much longer to come out than the last one, well... i got halfway through making it and then scrapped everything and started over completely... ah eto... bleh >v<

so! first off! the scrapped pages:

the reason that i scrapped it is because... well. it doesn't flow well at all. i tried too hard to cram it to 4 pages which resulted in both the layout and the story flow feeling cramped. for the most part both versions cover the exact same beats but with the dialogue and timing/spacing tweaked. compare page 1 here to the first 2 pages in the final- it's the same exact scene but the final has way more impact because the larger panels give a 'pause' at emotional beats (such as ace's realization) that lets them sink in

my only regret is that i had to scrap sabo's expression in the first panel of page 2 aubsdkjfgb.

20/03 Happy /extremely late/ Birthday our dearest Chief of Staff!!

Oh gosh where do I start, I’ve had this headcanon ever since we got Sabo’s adventure chapter, since Sabo isn’t the main character of course we can’t expect Oda to flash out much about him, so let me do it instead óvo)9 I feel like he must have struggled a lot the months after Ace’s death. First of all, I wanna clarify I think that after regaining his memories, Sabo didn’t know Luffy and Ace thought him dead /he had no way to know they found out through Dogra/, so he felt incredibly guilty for not being there.

I specially wanted to have Robin take part on this because she knows well how Sabo must felt and how anger can take you away from the people you love, and I think someone close to Luffy could have been big help for Sabo to move on and seek to meet his bro again, also…Robin can be very blunt and this kid really needed that.

And well, this took me 3 months!! I can’t believe this, between only drawing on weekends, scrapping back and forth about 3 scripts for this (and please thank my awesome roommate @fatidoodles for her help spending late nights with me trying to make coherent the mess of headcanons in my head x’D), trying Clip Studio Paint for the first time, cutting out about 2 pages of content because this was going too deep, and lots of panel redraws after, I’m finally done!! I love making comics about Sabo and couldn’t wait to finish this ;; I hope you enjoy it guys, as always, thanks for your support :’)
