One important thing to remember in life: Do not coddle men. Do not do their work for them. Do not perform uncredited labor for them, including intellectual labor. Do not bend over backwards to help them. Do not tell them they are good at things they are bad at. Do not smile at them when you don’t want to. Do not laugh at their terrible jokes or stroke their egos or let them think they are better than you when odds are good that they are almost definitely not. Do not even deal with men whose presence bothers you when you can get away from them/when you aren’t regularly forced to be near them for things like work. Do not include men in your life who don’t deserve to be in it any time that you can avoid it at all.
Finally got my Van Gogh wallpaper •almond blossom, February 1890•
Mona Hatoum - + and -
“In + and -, Hatoum again uses large scale to create a motorized piece of machinery that rotates in a large reservoir of sand, pushing the sand into ridges with one metal arm while the smoothing newly-made ripples with the other arm. Here, Hatoum constructs a metaphor for the cyclic quality of life itself, vividly emphasizing the ephemeral impact that individual people or nations have, in contrast to the eternality of existence. As the cycle spins, it concurrently creates and erases the sand ridges, mimicking the mechanism by which experiences are created and forgotten with the passage of time. Hatoum re-imagines the hourglass, creating a system in which time does not “run out” with the flowing of sand, but instead moves cyclically, causing the sand to ebb and flow as the machine turns.”
The party was awful (I got food poisoning & I didn’t really know anyone there) but the books were good.

my 20s aren’t my selfish years. my 20s are my hustle decade. Finish school get money pay back my loans establish myself work hard to create the foundation of a good life so that I can enjoy what’s coming next. Like yes I’d love to backpack across India or something but I’m broke! I have bills! I could quit my job take my meager savings and go on a 2 month trip and then what??? no job no home cause I got kicked out for not paying rent lmao
Enough. Maybe your 20s were the funtime years decades ago but not anymore. Don’t feel like you’re wasting your life bc you’re not hitchhiking in Europe or something. You’re doing fine. You’re doing what you can and that’s all that matters.

“i was born in the wrong century,” the girl sighs as she imagines a future where women have full ownership of their own bodies
