it’s startling to see myself through someone else’s eyes sometimes. my grace, my petulance.

there are moments i move through life with a strange animal freedom, as though no one in the world could witness me even if they tried. then the feeling passes, and the walls become temporary again.

lately, my days have begun to dissolve into small acts of tending. voices arrive at my door carrying their hungers, their fevers, their quiet private griefs. i answer softly. i listen. i make myself useful.
