I feel people just hear "misanthropy" and immediately jump to "ugh, this person thinks all humans are inherently evil!! somebody stop this awful villain!" instead of perhaps actually bothering to learn what the word even means.
This is going to sound unbearably pessimistic, because it is, but I have to say those posts talking about humans saving species from extinction or uplifting the marginalised that are made just for the OPs to spin it around like "see? see, you horrible misanthropic fuck? humans are good people!" just make me livid.
I feel that humans don't... really comprehend misanthropy (of course) or perhaps it's something on my end, because I don't really see how typing out a condescending post about the "inherent good" of humanity is enough to make even the most jaded misanthropist like me turn over a new leaf. Do you even know what misanthropy is?
