I Think I Need to Take a Step Away from Yashahime for awhile....
It's just becoming too much for me to handle with the constant anxiety and fear I feel whenever I think about everything that's happening right now. I'll still watch episode 8 tomorrow for the chance to see and figure out what happened to InuKag, but after that I think I need to give myself a breather from the sequel.
This whole week, no, ever since I've found out that InuKag weren't with Moroha for her life, I've been constantly on edge, and have been going borderline insane with my worries over what happened to them and everyone else.
A tv show shouldn't make you feel that way. You shouldn't be afraid about watching it. Especially if it's meant to be a spin-off of a series that had so many memorable and lovable characters who all got a satisfying ending.
The fact that Sunrise has to bait us with questions like "Who is the mother?" And "Where is everybody?" to keep us watching is just stupid and disrespectful to not only us, but the original characters.
What's worse is that you can tell that there are people working on Yashahime who are genuinely trying to put their hearts and souls into the project, like the voice actors for the girls, and Kaoru Wada and the singer's for the music and intros/outros. The animation for the most part isn't even that bad, and the animators were probably working as fast as they could in a short amount of time.
And if the show isn't making me anxious, it's making me kind of bored. The fights feel like they're over way too quickly and the filler-type of episodes are just so bland feeling for the most part. In my opinion, most of the InuYasha filler episodes are still really entertaining and fun to watch; they have a charm to them that even the manga-complient episodes just don't always have. In Yashahime, while there might be some good moments here and there (mostly moments where Moroha steals the show) as a whole, most of the episodes feel rushed and boring.
I don't know; I get that Sunrise wanted to focus a series on Sesshomaru, but they didn't have to drag the rest of the OG gang's happy endings through the mud. I'm still hoping things can take a positive turn, but I need to separate myself from Yashahime for a few episodes or so, possibly the rest of the season.
So I think I'll go ahead and watch the new episode coming out tomorrow, but after that I'm gonna give myself a breather from the sequel for the time being. I still hope to enjoy the fanart and fanfics that come out of it, but in terms of anything official, like news or screenshots, I think I'm gonna separate myself from that for a bit too. I might check that stuff occasionally, but not as regularly as I have been.
I'm hoping that by giving myself space away from the sequel, this heavy ache in my chest will go away and allow me to enjoy InuYasha to the fullest again, and that by the time I try to come back to Yashahime, some positive and encouraging turns in the story will happen (that, or we only have one season at all because it reaches a conclusion by episode 24 that I can live with).
I'm still holding out hope that since the sequel is putting a heavy emphasis on changing history, that the ending will involve changing the timeline so that nobody is separated at all, but only time will tell.
