Truth be told, Zelda had never seen such a large concentration of people all in one place. Skyloft was small compared to the surface world, but even that was wasnât nearly as populated as this place. Whatever this city was. Zelda had been too confused when sheâd awoken to pay much attention to the explanation that had been given to her. Even so, she would just have to manage. Zelda was capable, at the very least. It was difficult without her loftwing or Link, butâŠ
Zelda had turned her mind from that thought too many times to count as it was. It snuck in during the most mundane times - times like her current situation. Zelda had gone out in search of food to stock her new home with. It had been an easy walk at first until she entered a more crowded part of her district. Sheâd had to weave her way through the throngs of people just to get close to a small grocery. Once safely inside, Zelda had rushed through her purchases by simply taking anything that looked familiar.
Perhaps if she had been slower, she could have avoided such an unfortunate encounter.
The blonde had just left the grocery when she saw him. Or someone who looked like him. It couldnât have been, right? He was destroyed, right? Zeldaâs grip on her bags tightened as she gawked at him. For a moment, it seemed as if their eyes were going to meet before Zelda turned on her heel and began walking in the opposite direction. Sweat dripped down the back of her neck. She had no weapon. Nothing to call for help with. But maybe he hadnât seen her. Maybe it hadnât been him.
But then why did it sound like someone was following her?
The nerve of the girl; did she think she was invisible in the crowd with her glittering hair and her divine presence? That heâd mistake a trail left by the key component of his plans that he spent days upon days stalking once upon a time?Â
Outrageous.Â
And yet, itâs only now-- in the wrong world without the right powers-- that sheâs so easily within his grasp; itâs laughable, a cruel backhanded slap to his past efforts. The irony stirs up fury, hatred, and worse-- sheer embarrassment at how little heâs able to do with the goddess herself not only in front of him, but defenseless without a guard dog in sight.
Not all is lost; her existence could be useful, if only her soul. And though it might take time to make any progress on that front, for now he can safety assume a little intervention wonât hurt anyone. Undeniably furious that he is, heâs got some experience with this city under his belt already and patience, heâs sure the goddess would say, is a virtue.
The first chance he gets for a road without so many bumbling, wandering humans sheâll hear only the echoing sound of the snap of his fingers--
âNone of you know how to say âhelloâ, do you?â
-- before he appears before her in a display of diamonds, abruptly cutting off her path.
âYour Grace,â he sneers, slicing the air with the hiss of his words. âYouâll find there are very little places to run here. Do me a favor and donât bother trying.â
