First off, we gotta thank all of our wax warriors for throwing it down week after week to make Lords of Wax such a dope competition. The love they showed for each other and the crowds was unlike any event of this scale - they truly represented DJ culture and Austin, TX.
Our finalists, Sloppy Jackson, Abe the Assassin, and DJ Chorizo Funk, brought it big time on Thursday night. Their love of music and the craft was infectious - Emo's almost had to call the CDC - and their energy was unstoppable.
We've also gotta give a lot of love and a huge thank you to the people who came out week after week to listen, dance, cheer, and party with us. You play a crucial role is making this scene what it is and your dedication and enthusiasm makes us strive for bigger and better things everyday.
To our sponsors, Red Bull, Effen Vodka, and Dos Equis, thank you for helping us pull this off with your unwavering support and trust in our vision. It's a pleasure to work with organizations that put people first and allow others to realize their goals.
Much love to our record store sponsors, Waterloo Records, End of an Ear, Friends of Sound, Breakaway, Cheapo Discs, Antone's, Turntable Records, and Music Mania, for being so open and accommodating to us during the competition. Austin is truly blessed to have the best record shops in the world.
Thanks to Al Obregon for overseeing film production and editing all the killer footage.
One of the biggest thank you's of all must be reserved for the man who put fist to grindstone every second to bring Lords of Wax into reality: Daniel Northcutt. This guy has the largest heart and imagination in Texas and we're constantly amazed at what he can pull off.
Thank you to DJ Manny, DJ Bigface, DJ Orion, 4th Wall, Riders Against the Storm, DJ Chicken George, Notes Floats, Honey Claws, The New Day, The Grand Wizzard Theodore, and Mother Falcon for unforgettable performances that demonstrate our deep and diverse passion for music.
And last but certainly not least, a huge congratulations to your Lords of Wax 2012 champion, DJ Chorizo Funk!!
