where they are working on a case together; because after a couple years of fighting about wednesday always lying and keeping enid out of her work, they have finally come to some semblance of character growth and wednesday has finally learned to trust enid to be able to handle herself and she realizes that enid is quite valuable in a fight and during detective work, and enid starts to realize that this is actually a lot of fun, but i digress

they’re working a case together and they start to realize that a bunch of their friends are keeping something from them, something weird is going on and they don’t know what

so they snoop!

breaking into their friends rooms and going through all of their stuff is morally questionable, but they find something so it’s justified (at least to them)

a notebook, full of wagers

it has nothing to do with the case they are working on, but it is interesting nonetheless, because the bets are all about THEM

an tiny little notebook that is absolutely full of names, dollar amounts, and their bet

and every single one depicts their bet for when wednesday and enid will admit their feelings for each other

and wednesday just doesn’t get it

she doesn’t understand why their friends, her own brother included, have dedicated so much time to this and why it has become a guarded secret

she doesn’t hold romantic feelings for enid, at least she doesn’t think she does

together they decide to test the theory, once they are alone again in their room, sitting together on pink sheets and far too colorful quilts, with a simple press of lips she understands

“Oh” is all she can manage, while enid’s face is flushed the most gorgeous shade of pink and there are nervous giggles falling from her lips

“holy shit” enid says, and wednesday cannot help but to agree

there are 49 names in the notebook, and of all of them, of all people, bianca happens to be the only one who was correct in her bet

they decide to keep their relationship secret for while

i’ve always found wenclair fake dating au’s to be humorous because yall wednesday addams would never, despite that fact though i do adore them

but (and this is ridiculous, i am aware) imagine a scenario where Wednesday asks Enid to come home with her because her family is being annoying about her having a partner or whatever and she wants Enid to pretend to be her girlfriend

only, she is lying to Enid

because Wednesday knows that Enid doesn’t want to go home, that her family treats her like crap and she doesn’t want Enid to go back to a place that doesn’t see her worth

but she also knows that if she outright said that Enid would be too stubborn to take Wednesday up on the generosity (also because Wednesday is bad at feelings and doesn’t know how to tell her the truth when it makes her seem vulnerable)

so she lies instead and makes up the fake dating shit so that she doesn’t have to confess her real feelings, and instead of Wednesday helping Enid it looks like Enid is helping Wednesday, and Wednesday knows that Enid is much more likely to help Wednesday than to help herself

and then the basic stupid fake dating stuff happens, both of them indulging in a relationship that they swear is fake until they admit that it was always real and eventually it comes out that Wednesday had been lying and Enid thinks that Wednesday is insane but she couldn’t care less because Wednesday Addams is in love with her!!
