I was listening to your last single London Fog that you released back in August, and I was wondering what the back story about the girl you wrote about. It's a very beautiful song by the way! How did you feel when you were writing the song and how you feel about her now? You're a great singer songwriter and I'm looking forward to your release on your whole album Sound and Sense. Thank you for your talent! Have a great Sunday!
Thank you! I agree… it’s personally one of my favorites off the album right now. I actually initially wrote the progression for London Fog prior to meeting the girl that the lyrics depict. I really liked how quickly the chords moved and the emotional response it created, but I was having issues coming up with words that matched that feeling. Consequently, I ended up putting it on the creative shelf for a month or so.
I met the girl back in June and we started hanging out more and more as the Summer progressed. I remember the first few times we hung out and how I was very impressed (one could say in love) with her as a person, but didn’t allow myself to believe it fully because I “didn’t quite know her yet.” It was a unique and new experience for me to grow so fond of someone so quickly, so I pulled the progression off of the creative shelf in order to reconcile the thoughts and emotions that meeting this girl had incited. I ended up writing the two verses and the ending chorus in an artistic spree of about 45 minutes.
The title refers to her favorite tea, which I purchased and brought to her home on the day we met back in June.
Fast forward to the present and I can confidently say that I’ve grown to know this girl very well and can happily call her my girlfriend. She still continues to inspire me to write and record and be the best that I can be in regards to music, life, etc.
