been rewatching game of thrones whilst at my partners— went to a cheap book store and brought the book for it and the assassins creed for ezio because I’d love to read it after playing the games donkey years ago.. I might drift on muse to blogs again but it’s been a difficult week ?

a heavily seated sigh managed to escape through those parting pads, opposite digits reaching upward to gently rub over closed orbs. it stung abit— the not knowing and being placed into the unknown only to be left to make assumptions. such a pit began to form over time the longer that vicki remained unseen or heard from, that not even jeremy was flying around town practically looking for her. in reality he’d spoken a few words— always matching in sentences about confirming that vicki, his sister had just skipped mystic falls without a word or note. matt found it quite the difficult pill to swallow, so difficult that it still led down the road to having brief words with sheriff forbes. despite everything, despite his sister having disappeared and his mum being awol. elena— was the closest thing considered to family, even with recent events said otherwise. unlike the rest of the friend group, she knew more than what actually got spoken. he’d somehow managed to muster up a smile that secretly hid an ounce of sadness along the lines and oceanic orbs could barely keep the threatening pools at bay.

contact. connection— the smallest of a gesture of warmth radiating around the wrist with a tiny squeeze. it meant more than elena will ever know. “ yeah– i hear you. ” matt heard every word, took it into consideration and came to an ounce of agreement. but in fair share ? compared to the pair of them, only one had truly suffered the most. it wasn’t a topic brought up lightly and if so to tread on a thin layer of ice. a few bobs of the head in nodding agreement, digits retreating from rubbing now slightly blurred orbs to fish another curly fries. this time around dipping it into the tomato sauce provided and chopping off bit by bit. an almost childish grin replacing the slightly wounded puppy dog expression. “ hey, hey ” matt erupted with an amused chuckle, feeling the nudging underneath the table against his shin. truthfully was there an answer ? it seemed more complicated then put into words. what kind of label to sticker on the pair ? even though he didn't know how to answer. unconsciously found his broad covered back falling back into the back leather padding of the seat, either emptied palms dragging off the table and falling into his lap. just sat stationed above the shortened waist apron, three pockets filled to the brim. a cloth, a thinned lengthened note pad equipped with a pen and any tips left behind in the last. “ honestly, elena— i don’t know. we’ve just been hanging out and that’s pretty much it. ”

its a job— busting the tables and wiping down the wooden flat surfaces once the lunch rush was over. digits out reaching to collect empty to near half consumed glass frames, stacking atop one another if he could get away with it. any shattering plates or glasses came out of his pay check, the first or second time didn’t count but after ? within a week he’d be lucky to not drop at least one down the line. it became a blessing in disguise considering everything that happened between elena. school, homework and then straight to busting tables for a pay slip at the end of the week. often during a shift would matt catch a quick chat with bonnie whilst she’d popped in for something off the grill, needless to say even caroline doing the rounds and making small comments. “ yeah, just started afew days ago but … you know, i haven't had the time. with my sister and my mum just— ” his shoulders lifted, before dropping heavily back into their former position. exhaustion began to creep shadows underneath the oceanic pools from the lack of energy behind most if not any actions. 

all consuming. oceanic pools just watched his friends and those around just continue with life without a care in the world, perhaps the smallest of issues that were considered normal for a high school student. but the smallest of lines felt drawn around matt compared to others. chasing after a mother that barely showed and felt like a stranger at times, a sister who'd made all the mistakes in the book and continued so with him picking up the pieces. his lips pursed before taking a brief glimpse around the confinements of the grill, business coming to an almost dead halt. his orbs snapped straight back to elena with a tugging on the corners of the lips, dare a smile tempt to waver across them. " i guess i could— bars empty and my sections clear for now. " an admission of defeat, unable to deny her even the smallest of a refusal. matt leans in with digits outstretching to nick a curly frie before throwing it through parted lips. allowing his weight to drop into the opposite seat, with the leather cushion molding to shape.
