Iwaoi things that Just Make Sense Pt. 2, Electric Boogaloo
They’re not big texters, I don’t think. In high school, they’re always together, so why bother? In adulthood, I think the habit sticks. They’re both busy men, after all—Iwaizumi has a degree, Oikawa has volleyball. They have scheduled times a day where they drop everything and call each other, and it gives them plenty to talk about while still feeling connected. Sometimes, if something out of the ordinary happens, they’ll send little pictures back and forth and respond with hearts
Iwaizumi puts his thumb to Oikawa’s brow when Oikawa is upset. He likes to imagine that he can smooth away whatever ache Oikawa is feeling
Oikawa always finds Iwaizumi’s eyes first when he says literally anything in a group setting. He’ll meet Iwaizumi’s gaze over a glass, over somebody’s head, from a crowd away, and he’ll smile or raise an eyebrow and wait for a reaction from the one person he really cares to get it from

Oikawa has forced them to do matching Halloween costumes every year since they were seven
Oikawa gets a bad haircut in high school and is very upset about it. Iwaizumi mocks him, but secretly watches YouTube tutorials on hair cutting and wordlessly offers to fix it for Oikawa the next day before school
While Iwaizumi is in school to become an athletic trainer, he’ll have Oikawa try out certain workout plans and stretching routines on top of his team mandated stuff just to get real-world feedback. Oikawa loves the extra challenge and, more than that, loves to help Iwaizumi
Furthermore, Oikawa cleans up his act regarding self-care in adulthood. Being away from Iwaizumi makes him realize that he has to really hold himself up alone, and he can’t make himself or Iwaizumi proud if he works himself in the ground. (He also can’t kick Iwaizumi’s ass at the Olympics one day if he works himself into the ground)
Mattsun and Makki get Oikawa into makeup for shits and giggles one time, and Iwaizumi walks into the room and nearly fucking blacks out (“What’s with the face, Iwa-chan?” “You… you’re… fucking…. your eyelashes—” “You’ve always been so charmingly eloquent, Iwa-chan.” “Shut the fuck up.”)
Oikawa likes to do skincare, but he doesn’t need it. He really does just wake up like that. It is the bane of Iwaizumi’s existence
They both have spaces on the shoe rack for each other’s shoes in their childhood homes
Oikawa has wardrobe to rival any J. Crew catalogue. Iwaizumi lives in muscle tanks and sweatpants. Oikawa makes fun of him, but literally drools like a teenager every time he sees Iwaizumi’s arms, so it’s sort of a moot point. (“Eyes up here, Shittykawa.” “Iwa-chan! I wasn’t… what am I meant to do?” “Not reduce me to a piece of meat?” “Then put some clothes on!”)
Along with that, Oikawa takes Iwaizumi’s clothes constantly and wears them to sleep or if he needs something casual. His teammates become well acquainted with Oikawa cozied up in his boyfriend’s hoodie on a couch in Argentina despite the heat
Oikawa calls Iwaizumi ‘Haji’ sometimes. When he’s tired, when he’s feeling sweet, when he says ‘I love you’. Iwaizumi melts every time

Waste of such a handsome man, don’t you think?” Cut to Iwaizumi calling him and damn-near yelling, “Tendou has texted me no less than eight times asking why the fuck everybody thinks I slept with his boyfriend!” To which Oikawa just giggles).
Iwaizumi proposes in San Juan. He does everything he can to try to make it a surprise, because Oikawa is so smart, but Oikawa still figures it out. Oikawa cries, yes, but he saw it coming from a mile away, and Iwaizumi complains about it for the rest of time. (“You couldn’t have at least acted surprised, dumbass?” “How could I? My darling was finally proposing. I had no thought beyond utter bliss.” “…you’re fucking stupid.”)
