Claire her hands up as the gun was pointed firmly at her “Look–we’ve been travelling for days now and we are no threat you any of your group” she exclaimed, her tone high was confidence as to not make the woman doubt her in any way “We don’t even have weapons and we just need somewhere to stay–please”

Lori lowered her gun, watching the woman in front of her with no look of friendliness. She wasn’t completely heartless but she was set on keeping her family safe. And that meant making sacrifices. “How many of there are you? One night....you try anything...”

Lori and Amber // Before

The world seemed calm enough, except in the cities. Amber lived in some posh uptown apartment her boyfriend paid for. It was a little piece of heaven above the streets that were now flooded with blood and bodies. Grabbing her hiking pack and a few things she figured would be good food Amber locked the place up. Spriniting down towards the hospital she hoped someone had answers, all she found were the soldiers. And some man, he was running like a mad man toward the room blocked by a bed. Moving after him she took his arm, “Sir.”

Dodging the initial strike she saw him calm, “Sir, what’s going on?” Receiving some half story about dead walking she was getting towed out behind him. He said he had people and she needed to go with him. It want much ofna fight when she knew her parents and other half were too far to reach.

Arriving at the place she saw another woman with a kid. Moving toward them she clutched her hand gun to her chest, “You have any idea what this is?” She asked carefully @lorigrms

Shane returned from the hospital with the wrong person. She wasn’t sure who the young girl was but the way the cop put his hand on her hip and muttered an apology for her already-half-dead husband made Lori sick. The way all of this was happening-those wretched creatures, the rapid de-escalation of society-that made her sick too.  The gun pointed forward made her uneasy. Things were shit, hell, her husband was dead, but there was no need for that. Not with Carl around. “Hey. You put that thing away.” Lori said sternly, walking toward the girl and softening her tone. “I’m Lori... You from around here?”

At first Beth knew Lori wasn’t fond of the nickname, her eyes always had a hint of uneasiness to it. However the more people joked about it to her, the more she warmed up to it - well, at least that’s what it looked like from another person’s perspective. Who knows how Lori felt about the title now, Beth was sure she would’ve said something by now.   This time, Beth stifled a laugh at the silly gesture Rick did, before turning back to the strong women she bowed slightly, biting her lip to hold back the very loud laugh that was attempting to escape her lips. “Of cause! I’d be stupid to say no”

“You’d be stupid to join me.” Lori quipped with a sly smile, bringing a hand up to shield her eyes from the balmy, hot sun. Summer had come around once again, making being forced outdoors a little bit more tolerable...for a short time at least. After a while they just felt extra sticky and extra filthy. Lori found the little toddler babbling quietly to herself in the makeshift crib she had become so comfortable in. Judith Grimes was most definitely not a Gerber baby. “Alright you, you’re already going to town on this nap thing, Carol put you in your crib. Good of her. A little rockin’ and you’ll be off to sleep.” Lori lifted Judith and handed her over to the small blonde, hoping she could work her magic. “Do your thing, Greene. She’ll fall asleep faster with you than me.”

     “Yeah, I know. I did think of that, but…” She trailed off, eyes more focused on the cot than on Lori. “It’s been a couple months at least. I mean, it’s hard to keep track, but I’m pretty sure it’s time to start worryin’.” She pushed off from the floor and moved to sit with the other brunette, easing herself down on the mattress with a sidelong glance at Lori. “I don’t know what to do. If I tell anyone to pick up a test, Glenn’ll freak out. I think. I don’t know.”

“I have one.” The woman spoke calmly, digging her hands into the pockets of her faded, dirty jeans. “There were three in the package Glenn got me. I used two. Saved the third for...I don’t know what. Moment like this I guess. Not sure how accurate it’ll be but I would say give it a go. Have it calm your nerves.”

Jeff knew he had to come. It would be wrong of him not to. Even if he had avoided Rick and Lori since shortly after they married. It was a bit too much for him, seeing this wonderful life his brother had going for him while he lived in a shit-hole apartment in the city, working up the ranks slowly but surely in the Atlanta P.D. When his mother had called him up to tell him that he was an uncle to a beautiful baby boy, he had contemplated just sending a card or calling Rick. Even still, this was his nephew, and whatever unspoken beef he had with his older brother could wait till another day. He was surprised that he still remembered where they lived. He was on the job, glad in his police uniform, patrol car now in the driveway. Balancing work and earning his bachelor’s degree cut Jeffrey thin. But he was here. Ringing the doorbell, Jeffrey stood back, hands idle in his pockets. He had debated on turning around when Lori answered. She clearly was tired. But still beautiful as ever.           ”Hi, Lori.”

“Jeff...what can I do for you?” Lori asked, keeping her voice kind but even. She had met the younger Grimes a number of times when she and Rick had been dating but after a while the two brothers had gotten less close. Frankly, it seemed like little brother Grimes had fallen off the face of the planet. Rick had tried to reach out for a while--that was just his nature--but finally he’d given up. They’d resorted to seeing Jeff on obligatory holidays.  “Rick’s not here right now, he’s already back on the job. Carl’s nappin’ upstairs but if you’d like to see him-”

Peaceful moments came far and few in the Grimes household these days. Carl’s cries had finally calmed down, leaving the new mother to find a few much needed moments of solitude within her Atlanta suburban home. Rick had officially done back to work--it had taken him about three days--and Lori Grimes had been left with a dozen blue balloons, too many stuffed puppies to count, and a baby who went from angelic to fussy without warning. The doorbell rang and she reluctantly moved from her comfy spot on the couch, spotting a blob of spit up on her shirt as she passed the hallway mirror. “Shit..” she muttered under her breath, grabbing a wad of paper napkins to wipe off the goop. “Comin!”  She opened the front door and smiled, “Hey there.”
