[Frantic wingbeats approach the house of RISK and her partners, the flying figure faltering occasionally before landing on the property with a loud, almost painful sounding thud.]

[A cloaked figure, tucking their wings beneath the black silken fabric, stumbles to the door. Burnt palms clutch their skull, before they lift a single half from their head and bang it against the door once.]

RISK! RISK, I need to see you, I’m sorry..!

[RISK, by now, recognizes Los' voice. He rushes to the door.]

[She notices their burnt palms almost immediately.]

Los?! Are you okay? What's going on?

[Los drops their hood immediately, panicked and teary eyes looking up at RISK through their messy bangs.]

The visions are getting worse. So, so much worse, oh god-

Ah- ok. Okay, just ... Sit down. Take a second?

[She asks one of her partners to get something for their burns.]

What are you seeing?

So much- So much- So much so much so much so much so much-

[Los slowly attempts to calm their breathing, wincing as they finally feel the burns again. They must’ve experienced some form of depersonalization while experiencing visions, and their hand got too close to their candles. Well, that makes both palms burnt…]

…Okay. Okay… Oh god- Okay. I saw…

The two men again. One of them had a flash of gold in their eyes… And I saw pain befalling the other, though I couldn’t tell if it was physical or mental. The heavily sealed door from before suddenly ajar… Something possessing the mind my roommate, an entity I’m unfamiliar with…

…A storm. A centralized storm, not very large, but extremely heavy. And some… Thing in the eye of it. But I couldn’t make out what it is… Or if it’s literal. Or if any of this is literal! Jesus FUCKING Christ-

[They jolt suddenly, eyes going blank for a split second before they curl forwards.]

Ah-!

[He rushes forward to catch Los. He's not sure what to do. His mind is racing as all of it hits him.]

[But right now. her main priority is to keep Los safe.]

[Los’ breathing shudders, but it slowly returns to normal, their strength returning quickly.]

S-Sorry. I’m fine. I-I just… God, I… It’s so much, and it’s so much more often now… I’ll be trying to tend to my plants or read and I’ll suddenly enter that trance state and oops! Suddenly I’ve got cactus spines in my fingertips because I saw some weird… thing possessing my best friend… I can barely handle this, it’s all so loud-!

[They suddenly grab RISK’s hand, looking directly into his eyes.]

Have you seen anything new? Please, I need to know, I feel like I’m losing my mind.

[She doesn't answer for a second, wrapping Los' palms.]

...Yes. I'm not... having visions. At least, not in the same way you are. They're more of... Omens, I guess.

[The light glints off of his earrings.]

[Los bites his lip hard, clenching their free hand before taking a breath and nodding.]

…I’ll tell my roommate. It’ll be for the best, he was heavily injured last time he was involved with magpiehearted, I don’t want anything to happen to him. Thank you for your hospitality.

[Los gives a tiny smile, before blinking at the mention of their hands.]

Oh, it’s nothing. I get burns all the time. Only one of these is new, honestly... The new one is simply from my candles, from what I can infer. The other hand is from a stunt it pulled while possessing my body a while back… Which I still carry a lot of guilt for.

It's nothing, genuinely.

[He finishes wrapping their hands.]

It's probably best if you go and get whatever you'll need now. There's no time to waste.

I should have everything I need… I have my bag of things, my phone, wallet, a pair of clothes…

[Their lips purse, hands absentmindedly brushing hair from their eyes as they rummage through their mind for anything else.]

[The sounds grow more intense, followed by the sound of the desk slamming and a sigh.]

*Rein quietly opened the door, stepping in and closing the door behind him*

What's going on Mate? I heard sobbing..

*Rein softly said, walking over to Los and kneeling down next to them*

[Los looks… Tired. Their eyes are slightly puffy, their eyebrows knitting together as they stare at their desk.]

I’m fine. I just…

[They sigh again, placing a hand on their desk and gripping the edge of it.]

I can’t do this…

Do what..? Maybe I could help.

I can’t… do this. I can’t do it anymore. I can’t stand working my ass off every single day, writing poems and essays that I haven’t enjoyed making since I was eight!

[Their wings ruffle, eyes wide as tears prick the corners.]

I can’t stand imagining myself doing this for a living, writing about things when just a single paper leaves me drained for a whole day! I never even liked this in the first place! It was just the only thing I was good at! The only reason they saw value in me! And now I hate it too!

[They’re scowling, tears rolling now. Their trembling hands, palms adorned with burn scars and papercuts, lift up from the edge of the table.]

They couldn’t stand me anyways! WHY WOULD THEY EVEN CARE ABOUT THIS?!

[With an angry, stressed shout, Los grabs the papers on their desk and tears them apart, leaving a pile of paper scraps on the wooden surface as they sob into their hands.]

*Rein pulled Los into a hug, gently holding them close and wiping their tears away*

I don't know who "they" are but whoever they are they're a bunch of wankers who didn't deserve you if all they valued was you being able to do something good that you don't even enjoy doing instead of you in general.

[Los laughs again. Then a couple more times. It trails off into sobs again, the stress-wracked student clearly overwhelmed at the moment.]

…But what am I gonna do instead…

How about you just sit down for a minute and relax. Think about things for a minute. I can go make you some tea if you'd like, maybe that'll help you calm down and be less stressed out

[Los nods, sniffling again as they sit politely on the edge of their bed. They look towards the door, then to the shredded pieces of paper on their desk, before looking down at their palms. Ink stains, burned palms… This is all they’ve known for so long. What are they gonna do now?]

[As they glance desperately around their room again, something catches their eyes. Their first aid kit… And the medicinal herbs they’ve had growing on their windowsill…]

*Rein came back into the room with some tea, placing it on the nightstand for Los to grab when they feel like it before sitting down next to them on the bed* you feeling any better dear?

[They mutter a soft “I don’t know” under their breath, before speaking up, eyes still trained solely on the plants on their windowsill.]

I’ve caused so much harm to myself and others while possessed… It’s the least I could do.

[The sounds grow more intense, followed by the sound of the desk slamming and a sigh.]

*Rein quietly opened the door, stepping in and closing the door behind him*

What's going on Mate? I heard sobbing..

*Rein softly said, walking over to Los and kneeling down next to them*

[Los looks… Tired. Their eyes are slightly puffy, their eyebrows knitting together as they stare at their desk.]

[They sigh again, placing a hand on their desk and gripping the edge of it.]

I can’t… do this. I can’t do it anymore. I can’t stand working my ass off every single day, writing poems and essays that I haven’t enjoyed making since I was eight!

[Their wings ruffle, eyes wide as tears prick the corners.]

I can’t stand imagining myself doing this for a living, writing about things when just a single paper leaves me drained for a whole day! I never even liked this in the first place! It was just the only thing I was good at! The only reason they saw value in me! And now I hate it too!

[They’re scowling, tears rolling now. Their trembling hands, palms adorned with burn scars and papercuts, lift up from the edge of the table.]

[With an angry, stressed shout, Los grabs the papers on their desk and tears them apart, leaving a pile of paper scraps on the wooden surface as they sob into their hands.]

I quit! I’ll call Dr. Melleroux in a minute and tell her I’m leaving her class! I’m done with trying to please parents who aren’t even around me anymore!

[Los laughs again. Then a couple more times. It trails off into sobs again, the stress-wracked student clearly overwhelmed at the moment.]

[Los sniffles and nods, wings ruffling again as they glance at Rein with teary eyes.]

[Los nods, sniffling again as they sit politely on the edge of their bed. They look towards the door, then to the shredded pieces of paper on their desk, before looking down at their palms. Ink stains, burned palms… This is all they’ve known for so long. What are they gonna do now?]
