Stay with me || Regulus and Narcissa
“Is that not enough of a perk?” Narcissa was chuckling now, the teasing tone that lay in her voice clear as she gently prodded Regulus in the side, desperately wanting to see him smile. “There was no almost, Reg; I was panicking. By the time I found you I was so relieved I don’t think I had it in me to be angry with you.” Looking back now, Narcissa was able to find the whole thing entirely amusing, though at the time she had found it all to be anything but.
“You can with me, Reg, always.” Narcissa’s voice was no more than a hushed whisper now, her face burrowed into her cousin’s hair as she clutched him, needing the embrace just as much as he did, if not more so. She had missed his warmth, had missed his company and his easy smile; all of that was gone now, and she couldn’t help but hate Sirius a little bit for causing them all so much misery. “I’m so sorry, Reg..”
“Well I suppose it’s a perk, though now that I think about it, being small it was always easy for me to convince people to do things for me. So I had that too.” A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “That always amused me after I was finished apologizing. We were just playing a game, and yet you got so worked up because you couldn’t find me, even though every time I was alright, a bit dusty, but alright.” Regulus sighed, an arm wrapping around his cousin’s frame. It was nice to feel someone beside him again, and this time it being someone he knew wasn’t likely to leave him, or get him in trouble for speaking with. “Even the things that could get us both in trouble for even thinking?” He shook his head, not wanting to turn the conversation sour. “You don’t need to apologize. I’m just being selfish, I’m sorry.”
