A Photograph
The softness of her skin as her fingers grazed my cheek so softly, so tentatively, as if she feared falling. I feared it, too, but I swallowed hard, choked it back as her fingertips left my cheek, leaving just her thumb and its electric feel as it moved across my bottom lip.
“You’re trembling,” Bo whispered.
“Please… just kiss me.”
Time stopped for the briefest of moments, the longest of times as nothing—not even air—moved between us, around us, and then there was nothing but us. Everything was us, everything became us as I watched her eyes, watching my eyes, nearing, and then her touch, her mouth tender and gentle, and I closed my eyes. She was my every breath, my every want, my hunger growing deep within me and tangling with my fingers in her hair. Every cell in my body hummed a perfect note, a sacred chord, and as she pulled my hips, my whole body, close to her, the world before us, seconds before only a wash of darkness and muted oranges from the streetlamp above us, was awash in color.
“I miss you,” I whispered into the phone.
“Wait for me to come home.”

A/N: There’s something about the last little verse of Ed Sheeran’s song “Photograph” that kills me. There’s a magic there, a longing. I always picture ZP (as Lauren?) under that streetlight, so I wanted to make a drabble out of that moment for Lauren and Bo. For those unfamiliar with the song, here are the lyrics to the last few lines:
When I’m away, I will remember how you kissed me Under the lamppost back on Sixth Street Hearing you whisper through the phone, “Wait for me to come home.”
A/N2: The “sacred chord” is an homage to Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
Let It Be Me
“Hello?” The line was quiet.
“Bo… I…”
“Lauren, are you okay?”
“Um… I don’t know. I just started walking, and…” As difficult as it was, I kept quiet and just waited for her. I heard a sniffle, and my heart started to break.
“Where are you? I’ll come get you.”
“Um,” she paused, “Sixth and Pine. I’ve just been sitting here, and I just… I don’t want to go back. Not right now.”
I swallowed back the sob I felt building in my throat as I’d listened to the pain in her voice. “Did something happen?” I balanced the phone between my shoulder and my cheek as I zipped up my boots.
She laughed a little, the laugh she does when she’s been crying and she rolls her eyes at her own absurdity, having no idea how insanely beautiful she is, even in her pain. “Some days… some days I just… I’m a slave, Bo, and some days, I’m just acutely aware of that, and nothing bad even has to happen to remind me.”
“I’m coming to get you, okay?” I was already halfway between the clubhouse and my car.
“Okay.”
“Lauren?”
“Yeah?” she sniffed.
“Thank you for trusting me.”

A/N: So, this is obviously early on, when Lauren’s still with the Light. I’m in a mood right now where music is giving me All The Feels, and the sadness and love of Ray LaMontagne’s “Let It Be Me” was making me think of these two and the angst early in their relationship.
Now, I remember all too well Just how it feels to be all alone. You feel like you’d give anything For just a little place you can call your own.
That’s when you need someone, Someone that you, you can call. When all your faith is gone, It feels like you can’t go on, […]
If it’s a friend you need, Let it be me.
PROMPT: DBL DRABBLE
It’s here again! Double Drabble time! You may use any prompt posted or an idea of your own--the only catch? It MUST be 200 words, no more, no less. You can do it!

No radio, no conversation, just quiet. Bo drove the Camaro down the highway, her left hand on the wheel and her right held securely in Lauren’s hand.
“Should we go to the Dal tonight?” Lauren asked.
“Yeah, sure. It’ll be good to see the Kenzi, have some fun before we’re back to reality in the morning.”
“That might be a nice end our vacation, with some time with our friends.”
“Mmhmm,” Bo agreed.
Lauren gently squeezed Bo’s hand as they sat in silence. “Thank you,” she told Bo. “Thank you for this time away.”
Bo glanced at Lauren and smiled.

Bo finished pulling her hair into a ponytail as she walked from the bathroom into the bedroom, where Lauren was zipping a suitcase. This was it. They were heading home. Bo watched the figure of her love, backlit by the sliding door of their balcony, and swallowed back sadness. Brave face, she told herself, but she wasn’t ready to go home. She would keep Lauren in this peaceful bubble forever if she could.
Sensing Bo walking to her, Lauren looked up and saw the mixture of emotions cross Bo’s face. She reached for Bo and pulled her into a hug.

Lauren let out a soft moan.
“That good, huh?” Bo asked.
“That good. Perfect. This is perfection.” Lauren closed her eyes and took in a deep breath.
Bo chuckled. “I’m not used to seeing that face in public,” she told Lauren, “though I’m certainly willing to do whatever it takes to see that face as often as possible—in public or at home.”
Lauren balled up her paper napkin and threw it at Bo, who was running a french fry through ketchup. Bo laughed, picked up the napkin ball, and threw it back at Lauren, who was sipping her milkshake.

“Should we get up and go get lunch?”
“I don’t ever want to move from this spot.”
“Never?”
“Never.”
“Not even for coffee?”
“Not for coffee. Not for wine. Not for pizza…”
“Sex?”
“Yes. Please.”
“No. Well, yes, but that’s not what I meant. I mean…”
“Did I get you all flustered?”
“You definitely got me aflutter…”
“You’re so cute with your guard down.”
“What I meant was—“
“—that you want to have sex?”
“No. I mean, yes. I mean, always with you, but no, that’s not what I originally meant.”
“Because I would move for sex…”
“Deal.”

Nails softly scraping across her skin, Bo moaned into Lauren’s mouth. Bo’s sounds as they made love spurred Lauren on, sending her hands from the curves of Bo’s hips to the swell between her thighs. Hearing Bo, feeling Bo beneath her, seeing Bo’s skin flush with want—it all drove Lauren mad with need, and as much as she wanted Bo to take her, she wanted all of Bo more. The sheets twisted tightly in Bo’s hands as she was lost to the curl of Lauren’s fingers.
Knowing a human dominated a succubus again and again was their little secret.

Lauren woke with a smile that quickly turned downward as her contentment made way for the reality around her. She was alone, and the sheets beside her were cold to her touch. She scanned the room around her as she leaned up on her elbows. Bo’s jacket, tossed last night on a chair, wasn’t there. Lauren’s face scrunched softly as she mentally sorted the pieces of what was a dream and what wasn’t.
Startled by the door opening, Lauren clutched the sheet to her chest as Bo walked in, two coffees in hand. “Good morning, beautiful,” Bo said, smiling sweetly.

Lauren loved Bo. She loved everything about Bo. As they meandered past small shops, the hands held between them swayed gently with their movements, the back and forth of their steps bringing them closer to one another in some moments, their arms occasionally brushing against one another. Lauren listened to the rhythm of their footfalls as she stared off toward other tourists, not really watching anything or anyone in particular. She rested her head against Bo’s shoulder, and she knew in that moment, with absolute certainty, that Bo held her heart and that she would never ask for it back.

Bo stretched her long limbs, the aching in her muscles worth the exertion. Looking over at Lauren, she smiled, watching the blonde, her chest rising and falling softly in a peaceful sleep. This calm—this is what she’d wanted for Lauren, to take her away from the city, from the people who needed them to solve every problem, to mend every wound, and to just be together, no schedules, no deadlines. Just them.
Bo could watch Lauren for hours, studying every curve, the way her hair fell across her body, the softness of her skin in the light filtering in.

“It’s beautiful,” Lauren said.
“It’s not much,” Bo replied.
“Bo, really, it’s perfect.” Lauren turned to the woman beside her and kissed her softly. She wrapped her arms around Bo’s waist, and Bo leaned into her. They stood there, holding one another, listening to the soft sounds of one another breathing. Lauren let out a contented sigh. “Thank you,” she said softly. “This place, holding you right now—this is the calmest I’ve felt in awhile.”
“I could help you let go of some of that work stress…” Bo said with a smirk.
“I bet you could.” Lauren said, grinning.

As they lost the Toronto radio station to static, Bo started scanning for another station. She stopped briefly on Madonna’s “Holiday.” Appropriate, she thought. She flipped through a few more stations before settling on classic rock. “Or did you want Madonna?” she asked Lauren, her eyes on the road ahead. Lauren didn’t answer. “Babe?” Bo glanced over and saw Lauren’s temple pressed against the window. She had a loose hold on some medical journal, seemingly holding her place with her right thumb. Lauren’s lips were slightly parted. Bo really wanted to kiss Lauren in that moment. Eyes on the road.

“Mmm. What time is it?” Bo asked, her voice deep with sleep. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.
“Late,” Lauren whispered. She kissed Bo’s forehead. “I’m sorry, Bo. I really am.”
“I know, babe. It’s okay.”
“No, it’s not,” Lauren fell back on the bed as she blew out a big puff of air. “You planned such a nice week for us, and if I would have left at 4:00, like I said I would, we’d be on vacation right now.”
“We can still go tomorrow. We WILL still go tomorrow.” Bo leaned over Lauren and kissed her softly.

“I thought you were going to be here fifteen minutes ago!” Bo was pacing.
“I’m sorry. I just have one more patient, and then I’ll be there.” Bo could hear mumbled sounds in the background. “What’s the ETA?” Lauren asked, the microphone of her phone clearly moved away as she talked to someone. “Bo, I gotta go,” Lauren said, rushing. “A trauma’s coming in.”
Bo sighed. “Okay, Dr. Lewis. Call me back when you’re done. You know we need to leave by 6:00 to get there tonight. For vacation.”
“I will. I love you.”
Bo called to move their reservation.

Verbs and Nouns
This takes place sometime after ep 3.10 but before the death train.
“You look glum,” Trick said, placing a drink in front of his granddaughter. “Where’s Lauren?”
“We’re on a break,” Bo says.
“‘We’re,’ as in 'we are,’ right? I mean, I assume you would be happier if it was 'we’re,’ as in 'we were.’”
“Trick, I love you. I do, but can we not talk about it? Me and Lauren–”
“'Lauren and I,’” he corrects.
“Thanks for the lesson, Professor. Grammar and my break-up are two things I don’t want to talk about.“
"Bo?”
“Yeah, Trick?”
“You just ended your sentence in a preposition.”
"Ugh!” Bo sighed at the ceiling.
