Church bells rang out amongst the flames. The night was glowing amongst the small pockets of gunfire.

It turned and gained speed. The soft roar of the propellers grew. The sun reared it’s head behind as grey wings spawned amongst the many glittering flares.

The rain came in bursts. It had been like this for two months. Roads were bordered with sandbags on the doorsteps of houses. The streets were a warzone. Rivers no longer abided by their routes it seemed. I sat in the cafeteria, my eyes heavy with tedium over the lack of people in the empty room. Her eyes breached my hull with every subtle glance. I was lost at sea.
