“The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you", he said. "They're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and ... you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth."
- Meister Eckhart
ten years ago you were so scared of such different things, but you survived them anyway. the same goes for five years ago and two years ago. everything that has ever felt like a hurdle, you’ve passed through. so be afraid, identify your fears, and then allow yourself to remember that in just a little while, this will be another thing that you have overcome.
forgive yourself. do it often.
small steps to getting there:
1. remember that you are flawed and human as we all are
2. keep in mind that you can’t go back and undo mistakes but you can learn from them moving forward
3. think about how this experiences has changed you in positive ways
4. seek forgiveness from others if needed but learn to be okay with them not accepting your apology, it doesn’t make you irredeemable

i thought my suicidal late teens were the hardest years of my life but nothing could’ve prepared me for my 20s waking up everyday with no purpose, feeling so lost, unable to keep up with friendships, watching everyone move on with relationships and careers and being unable to catch up. and I’m such a “life is not a race” type of person but damn I’m losing so hard rn
seeing this resonating with so many of you is actually kinda comforting. here’s a hopeful quote from Tennessee Williams “Something in me will save me from utter ruin no matter what comes.”
You aren’t “behind” in life. But it’s valid to feel that way and it’s valid to grieve the years you lost to trauma, mental illness, or just general surviving.
“Sometimes pain doesn’t help you grow. Sometimes it just hurts.”

“I missed you so quietly that nobody noticed. I missed you without tears or noise, but oh how I felt it. I felt it as I waited, as I worked, as I looked at everyone. I felt it at home, on the road, in the light, in the dark, in everything in fact. I felt it a little too much. Yes, I missed you so quietly today, but I felt it so loudly.”
