Whoops | Sherlock and John
That was not meant to happen. The reaction was delicate, sure, but Sherlock had not been given any reason to believe it’d be explosive. There must have been some contamination in the silver powder. Was it cut with aluminum? Sherlock knew that dishonest suppliers would often do that, but he’d gotten it at Hogsmeade, so surely that couldn’t be the case?
It was difficult to think. There was a ringing in his ears, and his own heartbeat was echoing around Sherlock’s skull. It seemed faster than normal. His arms stung, and Sherlock remembered throwing them in front of his face when the fireball had burst out of his cauldron. The Ravenclaw pried open his blue eyes and tried to focus, but it was hard to do so when the world kept swimming and everything was so far away. Had he fallen down? Sherlock groaned - or at least thought he did. He could feel the vibrations in his throat but the ringing was too loud still.
John was simply walking the halls, when he heard the loud bang. He didn't really think much of it at first. It was common for mishaps like this to happen around potion work rooms and they were normally harmless. Though it was dinner time, so everyone should have been heading to the Great hall. He should check it out just to be safe. He walked toward where he heard the sound. It was when he heard the groan that he found the room and immediately rushed in.
“Bloody hell!” John called out, seeing the student on the floor. He ran to student, bending down to help them. “Are you alright?” The student was conscious, that was a good sign.
