I have this headcannon that Shan already knew how to play the electric guitar (before Tian gave him one).

I see his dad teaching him when he was a kid and he had a real talent for it, his mum and dad even gifting him his own guitar for a birthday. But when his dad got put into prison, and money became an issue, he secretly sold his guitar to help his mum. So then on he could only look into guitar shops wishing he could still have one.

And I think he pretended not to know how to play when Tian gave him one because he felt as though he lost his talent, which he definitely did not.
