Study Excerpt: Meta-Study Shows Acupuncture Provides Relief from Anxiety A 2016 meta study published in the medical journal Revista Brasiliera de Enfermagem reviewed over 500 clinical trials from five international databases, including one from The Cochrane Library. The trials covered a wide variety of ages and socio-economic circumstances in which the feelings of anxiety, helplessness or apprehension remained as constant challenges in the patients' lives. Researchers noted that a chronic state of mental unrest could lead to secondary health problems such as heart disease or gastrointestinal issues. MEDITATION AS MEDICINE ✨ ~ How many of you decided to incorporate a meditation practice, or increase your current practice, as a new year's resolution? If so, how's it going? Though meditation is an ancient practice, long known for its numerous health benefits, it has only become more mainstream in the western world relatively recently. Today, most people know on some level that meditation is "good" for us, yet we struggle to hold ourselves accountable to a consistent practice. What kind of barriers or "excuses" hold you back from doing a regular meditation? If your excuse is not having enough time, we encourage you to start with a simple 5 minutes every day. Whether morning, during a lunch break, before bed, etc, even only 5 minutes a day has been shown to significantly support overall well being. Surely you are worth just 5 minutes! 😉🤓 If your barrier is feeling like you're "not doing it right" we encourage you to let go of any expectation or self criticism, and bring it back to the basics. Find a place to sit where you are comfortable, close your eyes, and focus on your breath (preferably in through the nose, and out through the mouth). This alone is a great starting place to expand upon, once you feel comfortable.
