...It becomes increasingly clear to me that there will be nothing even vaguely resembling a democracy here until the citizens of this country (re?)claim the ability to exert some sort of control over how, and how much money is spent by the government. I wonder whether many of the currently practiced forms of activism account for such a fundamental corruption of the system of governance, because I fear that, like modern medicine, a pathological tendency towards hyperspecialization in our society is resulting in more alleviation of symptoms than healing of the afflicted system itself.
