It was hard to fault Vince, though. Whatever his faults were, she could still count on him. He was currently getting rid of a dead body for her. You couldn’t get more dependable than that.
— Book of Night
“what could go wrong following this Adam thing through” well considering the 11 and a half hours left of this book, Charlie, I’d say quite a lot

Spoilers for Book of Night (quote)
“Oh, I know,” she said. You’re going to be stuck in my head, with all my secrets. Even I don’t know all my secrets. It’s going to be awful.”
— Book of Night
Thief of Night by Holly Black in a nutshell: two people seeing the absolute, ugliest, worst in each other and realizing they love each other because of and regardless of.
If she couldn't be responsible or careful or good or loved, if she was doomed to be a lit match, then Charlie might as well go back to finding stuff to burn.
—Charlie Hall, from Book of Night

Vengeful characters, my beloved.
Cassie gave us the most human and well-constructed male character in a fantasy saga and you'll decided to ignore him, the lack of good taste is incredible.
I can understand why Emma was about to risk everything for him, I understand you sister.
Absolutely nothing beats Valentine's parenting strategy of "this is my good son who I keep in the house and my evil son who I keep in the shed. They're both named Jonathan"
Say what you want to about clary but she clocked the hottest shadowhunter of his age and that counts for something.
what the HELL.
your prophetic dream better be enormously mistaken Clary you will not die on us. don’t do that to Jace and Simon. I refuse to see the average height of the tmi gang spike up in this lifetime because you’ve gotten yourself killed. I will not survive it.
the struggle between wanting a tv show of your favourite books so you can watch edits of your favourite characters and the knowledge that if the actors don't look exactly like the characters in your mind you're going to kill everyone in that show and yourself
the dark artifices is just THAT shadowhunters series for me, like not only did it introduce and lay down some wild stuff for the wicked powers to take over, but everything happened in there. malec wedding, clace proposal, two parabatai falling in love (the literal bible verses said IN BED ahem), robert lightwood's past with michael, literally all the couples stories being fire (kieraktina, diana and that guy from the hunt, kit and ty, julian and emma ofc), jem and tessa (no explanation needed, i just love seeing them), and the whole vibe at the L.A. institute and in the seelie and unseelie courts, and THULE which was insane. if the wicked powers can't beat that, then i'm afraid nothing else comes close to it for me
