Celebrating big 09 and last naginata of the year. Special day for this kid!
It's been a hustle.
Today Cole starts Lindamood-Bell. Poor guy it's such a long day for him. Hes such a trooper, I'm praying we can keep up the routine 🙏
It was also rainy and cold... so mad props to him and myself 😭

Waiting for morning bus pick up
Its impossible to get a decent shot of this kid. He purposely wants to make my life hard.
Baked goods for the hard working teachers at conference today 🤗

I just wanted to remind fellow people with learning disabilities that
you’re not stupid
you’re not lazy
you don’t have to compare your best to others’
Your brain is made in a certain way and it’s not lacking. It’s just different.
Love u all
“I think it’s vital that teachers are trained about dyslexics, about dyslexia, about spotting it, and about working with dyslexic kids. It’s absolutely vital because the world is changing and imagination is key to everything and there’s going to be a lot of kids whose potential are lost unless we train our teachers to effectively teach them.”

Chilly outside
It's cold AF! Took Cole to his developmental pediatrian today. I hate that I have to go in everytime he needs a refill on his medication and pay $40 copay. All they do is check his vitals as hows he doing and they get to bill the insurance hundreds of dollars for 10 mins worth of "check up".
So 2 month prescription (50) + $40 copay x 6x = 540/yearly
After he convinces me to goto Eggloo in 30 degree weather...
Conferences
Half day and parent conferences today. I spent pretty much the whole day helping out at the book fair. Got to meet and talk to some amazing parents. Its truly shocking that most of these parents have such similar stories as us. It's so disappointing on how much you have to fight with the system to get your kid in a surrounding fit for them.
I am in awe of what his teachers have to say about Co. He is eager to learn, very helpful with his peers and teachers. He gets alone with his peers very well. Cole has always been an emotional kid, triggered when he doesn't know how to express himself or feeling like he’s failed. The school teaches him to verbalize his feelings when he tends to shut down and learning to be more confident in himself.
To see him being able to interact with kids in his school that are not just in his class is truly amazing. Having other kids that have similar profiles as Cole and to be able to interact so well with each other, makes my heart feel all sorts of things.
I love it when Co comes home with art. It's pretty freaky when you look at it and dont know what the context of it is. Thankfully I know my sons not a psycho killer....
Starting this blog with amazing news
It has been a rough 2 years but thank the jeebus and the unicorns in the sky our hearing officer was in favor of our case and granted everything we requested for Co. I'm beyond relieved and thankful for those that have been around to support us. Most of all thanks to our amazing lawyer couldn't of done it without him. We just have to wait to see if the DOE may want to appeal our case which is really unlikely but you never know. 🙌🙏
