Quismy des Vaux injured at the stables during the CSIO5* St Gallen | World of Showjumping

Kevin Staut’s ride Quismy des Vaux was seriously injured at the stables in St.Gallen last weekend after the mare got attacked by a stallion.

This raises serious questions about the level of care the horses receive at shows. At ALL the shows I’ve been to here in Texas, there is always a night watchman making rounds at night to see to the protection of the horses. 

I feel like this could have been prevented if they would have had someone watching the horses, or maybe a groom sleeping in the stall next door.

Actually, the organisation said they had 3 people out all night with dogs (17h30 to 7h30), watching the stables and the grounds around. (x) The incident could have been fast and brutal ?? Idk this is weird

After Ayade de Speton’s fall in the Grand Prix, this makes for quite a terrible week-end for Kevin and his horses

Other article (x) where Quismy’s owner estimates the stallion and the mare must have stay together at least one hour before they were discovered. So yeah, puts a dent in the organisation’s defense

Says they found the mare covered in blood, they’re scared she might have to end her career. Though she appears to walk and trot ok as of yesterday. 

Stallion was injured too. They don’t know if he covered the mare.
