I took a tiny detail from my digital artwork "Saturn's return" and turned it into a simplified black and white line art style.

I’m having fun turning my work into stencils and line art, I had tried in the past but never got a result that I was happy with but I feel that this new version actually highlight some of the intricate details instead of losing them.

I’m going to keep experimenting, but I’m thinking of making these available as tattoo stencils or a coloring book of some sort, do people still use coloring books?

I’ll be sharing the tutorial for creating this effect in the creators collective and my digital art courses very soon (Filming the video tonight).

The Nectar Seeker

This is a piece I created a few months ago, I've created a number of gem styled hummingbird pieces over the years, probably enough to create a series now!

I had a lot of fun creating this piece, particularly the iridescence effects on the bird's wings.

The Eternal Trance.

This was a piece I created way back in 2014-16ish, it was around this time that I started to discover the advantage of creating and using stock imagery in my artworks.

For example the peacock feathers in this piece were created once as a base feather and then duplicated and distorted slightly each time to create the full plume, much faster than painting each feather. The same for the blue feathers on the body.

My work around this time started to look much more crisper, refined and detailed as I moved away from painting every stroke in an image and instead used painting to lay down a base, stock png imagery to layer textures and effects and even 3D objects to bring everything together. I recently found a narrated process video explaining how I created this piece in more detail, I remastered the audio and have uploaded it to the advanced course and creators collective, linked in my bio for anyone interested!
