We need to talk about the visuals of Two Ghosts
Two ghosts in and of themselves is a work of art. But Harry made it incredible when he thought of the images and idealized the whole concept.
Me and a friend were talking about the look and we immediately remembered a movie. This spiritual adventure film, with a script by Ron Bass based on a book by Richard Matheson, boldly begins with the idea that eternity is similar to the realm of the imagination - What dreams may come .
Working from a script by Ron Bass, Ward created a film that, in its most visually evocative form, portrays the life and life of its characters as a kind of mirror room, in which the lines between dream and reality, memory and eternity are continually blurring as one gives way to another. The film portrays the sky as a magical stretch: it is a place flooded with golden light and full of flowers, where people and objects float in the sky and great distances can be broken with a single leap (of faith, of course). When Chris gets to heaven, he finds himself inside one of Annie’s romantic gothic paintings..
“It’s not about understanding … it’s about not giving up.”
"I could not say goodbye, but whatever the distance between us, I send you my love.“
With its dazzling visuals capturing the splendor of Heaven and trying to feed the soul with its exploration of spirituality and emotional redemption. Undulating hills, majestic mountains, wonderland - if there is life after death, please let it be. Soulmate Annie is a talented painter, so Chris’s initial impression of heaven - our minds evoke their own versions of the perfect world when we die - is that of a vast painted landscape. And I mean literally painted.
what dreams may come says that it is possible to attain eternal life, because eternity, the movie suggests, is what you imagine it to be, if you can conjure it, then at some level it must be reality. Just like “Peter Pan.” Close your eyes, snap your fingers and fly. Red, green, blue, purple and yellow balloons spread out before him and seep into a swirling sky inspired by Van Gogh. When Chris leans over to touch some violets, they clench their fingers and drip on the other colors.
Blue and green triangles? Are they souls? Is it the representation of the aureas of Harry and Louis?
Harry said he had TG on his own because he was very personal. to share, and because of the specificity of the letters. I believe he used the concept of heaven as an inner paradise, refuge .
And the visuals are a way he found to make that song that was written at a difficult and distressing time for him in something heavenly that was the opposite of what he lived
And after an enlightening conversation with Sea @seasurfacefullofclouds, she also brought Olivia as a reference.
Two Ghosts seems to reference the song Olivia. As you know, Olivia was played before the concert, and Harry enjoys watching the crowd sing along.
Olivia contains the words, “Summertime, and butterflies.”
TheTG visuals show summertime and butterflies.
Olivia is a pun on “I love you.”
TG is about a love that has changed - is gone.
“Trying to remember.” In a way, the love has died - and the visuals may show a kind of idealization, like an afterlife, for the love.
He sings about the death of love, but the visuals are showing the afterlife - heaven.
And it’s a heaven of idealized love— Olivia. Is it a place? A feeling? A person? It’s what you imagine love to be. “All belong in your imagination”

on a lighter note it's gonna be fucking hilarious to see what harry is going to say in interviews when asked about this video because obviously there is a lot of depth to it and there are already a bunch of different theories but we just know harry isn't going to explain shit he's just gonna give some vague ass reply or focus on just one part of the video or just avoid answering the questions altogether
(11/10)
I love how they kept in the bits of Harry being awkward to contrast with how he was when he was acting
