I've seen a lot of people hating on the very contemporary pop culture references, and I've just got to say that whether you like them, or you don't, or you think they're cringey, they are very book accurate.

I know it's weird hearing pop culture references from your own time but let's not forget that Armand was obsessed with Blade Runner in the 80s and then in the 90s was an X-Files fan, and Raglan James sent Lestat a VHS tape of All Of Me as a body swap clue.
