dude it's just politics, it doesn't matter. all it does is shape every single aspect of the society you live in from the second you are born until forever
"there is no way you're not using chatgpt for at least a few things here and there no matter your stance on it" what the FUCK are you talking about
I attended a lecture of a professor whose main research field is AI and she was saying something along the lines of “90 % of students report on using ChatGPT in their academic studies and the 10 % who claim not to use it are lying btw” and I just sat there baffled like. What the fuck? I’m sorry to break it to you but some of us genuinely don’t feel like handing our entire lives over to a data eating, art stealing and environmentally harmful program. It’s actually not that hard to wrap your head around
Seconded. I never used and I don't intend to use it. I prefer to think for myself. Bold of you to assume that "everyone uses ai".
I sometimes use translation tools to check my own writing in english or to translate texts in languages I don't know - but that's for fun. I wouldn't rely on them in an academic setting because they are just not good enough for nuance.
What I find most shocking about the whole thing is how quickly people seem to have forgotten that you can do things without ChatGPT. It hasn't been around that long (for general usage) that we now have tons of people who have never known anything else – there's just something about it that makes people forget that you can just not use it, and with better results. Like, search engines are still there. Wikipedia is still there. And yet you get so many "I asked ChatGPT and it got me nowhere, help?!?"
(Though who knows, maybe those are just the people who wouldn't have tried to find their answers on their own before either, and would have straight up asked in chats/forums/wherever. I'd rather they cut out the AI middleman, though.)

I show up and am given a list of cognitively engaging but achievable tasks
I complete the list
I leave immedietly
