Did you ever leave someone and look back a little later on and realize you were always way too good for them? and it seems so fucking obvious now and you’re in awe that you never saw it before? But the reason you never realized it is because it took leaving. Because sometimes you have to remove yourself from the situation to see how bad it was. And things take some time to sink in, but there’s also a lot of smoke and mirrors and chemicals in your brain (I think they call it love?) that prevent you from seeing it right away, even if other people can. So listen to your friends, maybe. But also, know that you’re not crazy for making what might seem like a bold or random or irrational choice to leave, because sometimes things don’t make sense right away, but when they do, they make so much sense.

“Always show kindness and love to others. Your words might be filling the empty places in someone’s heart.”
— Mandy Hale (via perfeqt)
“I hate solitude, but I am afraid of intimacy. The substance of my life is a private conversation with myself which to turn into a dialogue would be equivalent to self-destruction.”
— Iris Murdoch, Under the Net (via the-book-diaries)
