is there a label similar to aegosexual except the individual imagines themself as the character in the fantasy in a very disembodied way? or would that just be under the microlabel

There's not a lot of subsets for aegosexuality, sadly. But I've found some labels that are similar to aegosexual.

Adexsexual: an ace-spec greysexual microlabel that describes one who does not experience sexual attraction towards real or specific people at all but experiences what is described by some as phantom partial sexual attraction and by others as arousability and sexual desire through imagination of experiencing specific sexual acts and sensations from or with partially specific but not fully specific or real people or through witnessing high-intensity sexual content with unspecific people.

Cogitarisexual: an ace-spec microlabel for individuals who only experience attraction within their own head. They may experience sexual attraction when imagining it, when imagining certain things, or when thinking about certain individuals/things, but they only experience that attraction because they're imagining something. They do not experience actual sexual attraction in real life, and have no desire to act on the attraction they experience in their imagination.

Also, the full definition of aegosexual does kinda describe what you've said. So here it is:

Aegosexual: a microlabel on the asexual spectrum that describes individuals who experience a disconnect between themselves and the subject of arousal. Aegosexuals may experience sexual fantasies, enjoy p*rn and other sexual content, or m@sturbate, but they generally feel little to no s*xual attraction and typically do not desire to involve themselves in s*x with another individual.

Some common aegosexual experiences include:

Enjoying sexual content, masturbating, or fantasizing about sex, but being indifferent towards or repulsed by the idea of being in a real-life sexual relationship.

Fantasizing about sex, but:

the aegosexual individual is not involved. They may only be a disembodied observer viewing it from a third-individual perspective rather than from the first-individual.

envisioning only other individuals, such as celebrities, fictional characters, or even friends.

it involves generic, faceless individuals, not specific individuals.

it is seen through the perspective of another individual rather than as one's actual self.

only imagining oneself, and no other individuals.

it is idealized and unrealistic. Adding realistic elements to the fantasy makes the idea of sex less appealing or even repulsive.

Perceiving someone as "hot" or recognizing someone as sexually attractive, yet not seeing the appeal of having sex with the individual in real life. The aegosexual individual may instead prefer to fantasize about them or admire them.

Enjoying erotic content but getting turned on by the situation or relationship dynamics in story lines rather than by one's attraction to the individuals.

Liking the idea of sex, and/or enjoying sexual content, but not actually experiencing attraction or wanting to have sex with anybody.

A individual who enjoys the idea of sexual relationships but does not wish to have one. (Associated with a disconnect between the individual and a sexual target/fantasy)

Feeling sexual attraction and desire only for situations that do not involve one's self.

Someone who feels sexual attraction, but does not want to participate in sex.

I’m so tired of the “why do people hate aspecs, they aren’t doing anything?” argument. I know that it is an attempt to support us, but it fails so spectacularly to understand aromanticism, asexuality, and any other aspec identity that it’s actively frustrating.

We are doing something. We’re rejecting allonormative ideals and that’s a massive thing to do. We’re actively fighting not just to help other aspecs, but to help everyone, because amatonormativity (and allonormativity as a whole) hurt everyone. Single people who want to find a partner but can’t also deserve to be able to exist.

There are so many issues with the expectation of marriage, including:

A single income isn't enough to get by anymore

Having a spouse is almost necessary under the current medical system

Society shames and pressures people who are single to get into relationships constantly

Rejecting allonormativity means fighting against these things that hurt everyone.

So, no, aces and aros and other aspecs aren't "doing nothing." We're doing quite a lot.

Just to be perfectly clear, none of those things is hugely egregious or problematic on its own (the 'LGBT' acronym especially, I've seen a fair amount of 'Q+' people that associate with it just fine and that's understandable), it's just a lot of little things that tend to pile up over time. And yes, most of the time none of them are intentionally pushing us aside – but again, that's 'cus we'd have to exist in people's eyes for that intention to even exist in the first place.

Anyway. I dunno. Feels a bit overly whiny. But it's another one of those things I'd wanted to get out of my system ig.

Grace being aroace, and Project Hail Mary's focus on platonic relationships, is so important to me, for so many reasons.

It's like. Project Hail Mary is a big, popular movie. It has fucking Ryan Gosling in it. And there's not a hint of a romance plotline anywhere! It's all entirely focused on platonic relationships. The friendship between Grace and Rocky is the focus of the movie, and it's so important to the story. They both found someone to be brave for, someone they were willing to die for. Without their friendship and collaboration, neither of them would have been able to save their home planets. Their bond is so close and special and above all their best friends, and it's beautiful.

There's also Grace's relationship with Stratt. Stratt is the main female supporting character. In any other story -- any other story -- I can almost guarantee she would've been the love interest. But she isn't and it's fucking wonderful. Just. Just think about it for a moment. Project Hail Mary is this big blockbuster movie -- and it looked at Eva Stratt and said, we're not going to make her the love interest, because she wasn't in the book and she doesn't need to be. Their dynamic is just as fucked up and wonderful and traumatic when they're friends. That's such an amazing thing to see in such a mainstream movie.

And, of course, it means so much to me that Grace is aroace and that the film (and the book) continuously point this out. He leaves the party when he sees people getting together. He's only had one girlfriend. Half the time he's wearing the colors of the aroace flag. (In the book, he's incredibly confused when people think he and Stratt are sleeping together).

Stratt uses his lack of romantic relationships as a justification for sending him to die, which is heartbreaking, and it felt so real. Because society is constantly telling aroace people that we're worth less because we won't date or get married or have sex, because we don't fit into societal norms. What Stratt said to Grace -- that's something the world is constantly telling us.

And then the movie flips that on its head. It says that it doesn't matter that Grace never had any of that, because he loved living and he loved his students and he was so full of love for everything around him. And he met his best friend in space and their friendship was what made them able to save their homes and each other.

It's just. In a world where there's hardly any aroace representation, having this much of it means so much to me.

As an aromantic asexual person, few things have ever infuriated me like Avengers: Endgame. Specifically, one small plot point near the end…

In my head, if not in canon, Grace is aromantic and asexual. But really, his identity doesn't matter. Grace himself doesn’t have to be aroace for Project Hail Mary to be an aroace story. This is a story about how connection saves us. It’s a friendship story; a story that rejects the idea that platonic love is lesser, or not enough for a fulfilling existence.

Or: this film healed something in my aroace soul and I couldn't rest until I'd talked about why it means so much to me.

I’ve had a friend turn to me and say that I was lucky and that they wished they were aroace too while complaining about their partner with another friend?? Then got confused and offended when I asked if their partner was forcing them to stay in the relationship. Like, how else was I supposed to take that comment!?

I’m really happy that Ryland Grace is seen by so many people as aroace because he’s not the stereotype that normally gets headcannoned as areoace. He’s not robotic and instead he’s allowed to feel emotions in their fullest spectrum. He’s allowed to have passions and deep friendships with others without there being a push for romance. He’s not lesser for not having a partner or considered innocent or naive. He’s allowed to be himself in its fullest form and that is accepted without question. Ryland Grace is a great person who is whole.
