about R: main tc, mid 40s, she/her. my health sci prof -- tenured and chair of the dept. shes bi and a huge theatre nerd which basically just means shes weird asf and i would die for her. blog name is based on a convo we had about love in the time of cholera because she went off on a tangent about the book while lecturing about the outbreak in victorian london + she likes baking but theres more to that if you wanna read the cheesecake post lol

about O: platonic tc, mid 30s, she/her. my crim prof -- tenured, chair of the dept, and head of the uni faculty association. her husband is also a prof and theyre adorable but painfully straight so its actually disgusting, esp because i was convinced she was gay as hell at the start of the term since shes a sociologist and has a fuckass haircut (its amazing and i love it)

about H: platonic tc, early 40s, she/her. contract prof -- teaches history but i know her as my boss because she supervises the student employment program that im a part of. close friends with R. loves travel and reading whodunnit novels so much that its almost a problem but i have the exact same problem so we vibe

during dinner she just randomly told me about how she woke up in a panic the other night because she had a dream that my hair was all matted with blood ?? i was like oh baby freud would go crazy for that what the hell lol 😭

im cat sitting for my friend this week but every time im over at his place all i can think about is how next semester i'll be doing the same thing for R because she also asked me to cat sit which is nuts like why do i have keys to your house dont do that i'll die

also feel like its important to note that the conversation literally went like

me: i love cats but im super allergic R: oh do you cat sit me: yeah but i prob shouldnt since i need prescription strength meds just to be able to breathe while im doing it R: that must be such a struggle to be gay and allergic to cats

tldr: R likes baking and tests recipes by making mini versions. she asked me to taste different mini cheesecakes she made and they were good but for some reason it always goes terribly when she makes a regular sized cheesecake and yet she keeps doing it which is. sort of the definition of insanity. and i love that for her

R sets up her course schedules so that the last class of the semester is open as an end of term party and when she asked if there was anything in particular we wanted to request everyone started screaming like CHEESECAKE!!!!!!!!! YOU SHOULD BRING THE CHEESECAKE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! because apparently in previous years she baked a cheesecake that was a big hit so shes like alright guys shut up i'll bring the cheesecake if you calm the fuck down

then in the week leading up to the last class she was testing different flavours by making mini cakes and she kept asking me to taste them and give my opinion which is amazing except for the fact that i dont really like cheesecake but i was like whatever these are objectively good cheesecakes and it means i get to hang out with her so who cares if i have to eat a few but i felt bad because i wasnt gonna be able to actually be helpful in terms of deciding anything

but she clearly loves cheesecake and already knew which flavour she wanted to go with since the beginning because she kept talking about the cherry one like it was god tier so i was like oh you should definitely go with cherry yesssss i love it (again, it was ok but i dont fw cheesecake and i think if i had to pick, cherry would be at the bottom of my list 😭)

so anyways the last class rolls around and she brings in a regular sized cherry cheesecake instead of the mini ones id been eating but 1. fuckin NOBODY can get it out of the pan properly. the crust is absolutely superglued to the bottom. the cherries are all goopy and syrupy and falling on the floor. the cake part is floppy and its generally a huge mess. amazing. 2. IT TASTES BAD bro like what happenedddd 😭😭😭

and apparently it wasnt a one time error because she made mini cheesecakes again a couple weeks later which i tried again and they were good again but i was talking to H at work about the end of term party and she went "did R bring a cheesecake? cherry? mmhm. did it fall apart? yep haha it always happens at dinner parties too" and theres another student employee at my work whos been in R's class before who also agreed that R always brings a cheesecake and it always falls apart which is so sad and i feel awful but its fucking hilarious im sorry girl wyd stop this scourge of terrible cheesecake ily but why are you doing this time and time again jdkfhskjdhfjk
