🪰HAPPY FLY DAY TO THOSE THAT CELEBRATE🪰
The Fly’s 40th Anniversary: 🪰
August 15, 1986 - August 15, 2026
A tragic love story. A timely AIDS allegory. The ultimate in body horror. Whatever can be said about David Cronenberg’s brilliant version of The Fly, it stands proudly next to The Thing and The Blob as one of the truly great horror remakes of the 1980s.
I don’t think anyone was surprised that it won the Oscar for Best Makeup. The transformation scenes are still gut wrenching to this day.
One of the greatest ever. 💙
“You're afraid to dive into the plasma pool, aren't you? You're afraid to be destroyed and recreated, aren't you? I'll bet you think that you woke me up about the flesh, don't you? But you only know society's straight line about the flesh. You can't penetrate beyond society's sick, gray, fear of the flesh. Drink deep, or taste not, the plasma spring! Y'see what I'm saying? And I'm not just talking about sex and penetration. I'm talking about penetration beyond the veil of the flesh! A deep penetrating dive into the plasma pool!”
adorable doesn’t even begin to describe him 🥹
Rest in peace Sam Neill. Thank you for the awe and wonder you brought to us.

JEFF GOLDBUM SCIENCE SHOW?! JEFF GOLDBLUM SCIENCE SHOW?!?!.....Jeff Goldblum science show...... HAAAAOHMYGOD!!!
Okokok hyperventilating aside (hehehe I still cant belive this is real) this show, called future quest, was apparently a PBS program from 1994 where JEFF GOLDBLUM commentate on the potential future technological achivements of mankind, with topics of time travel, space, and genetic engineering. The format of the show is basically just jeff asking a question about the episodes theme and then it cuts to a compilation of several people giving their thoughts and responses to that same question, and then back to jeff asking another follow up question to the viewer. It's also VERY EUTOPIAN SCHOOLASTIC if you like that aesthetic (bc of the 90s cgi and shows theme). It's pretty good to put on the background if you ask me, haha. It's all speculative and hypothetical, but it is an interesting little time capsule of how people saw "the world of the future" back then!
Also....
Close enough welcome back Seth Brundle ❤️
So I watched Obsession and the rabbit hole just keeps widening
Beyond Therapy (1987), dir. Robert Altman
the worst bisexual representation ever, i love it
Orange wine and Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm
Jurassic Park (1993)
♡ 80s movies I think need more love ♡
I never hear anyone talk about these films but they should because even if they aren't perfect they're still a lot of fun (and I just realised now that most of them involve jeff goldblum)
!Disclaimer! Your version of 'good' and my version of 'good' might be very different! I am a sucker for ridiculous and campy
The tall guy (1989)
Emma Thompson and jeff goldblum romcom to start us off! Very silly in the best ways possible, this has become a comfort watch for me in the last few months. Not the most groundbreaking romcom ever but there's a charm to it. (Plus! Any madness fans out there will love the inclusion of 'it must be love' along with a suggs cameo)
The adventures of buckaroo bonsai across the 8th dimension (1984)
I don't even know how to describe this one, it's insane just watch it, trust me. Jeff Goldblum's character is dressed like a cowboy the whole time and it has zero plot significance. There are aliens and a cast that had me pointing at my screen in surprise the whole time, does that sell it at all? I cannot tell you about this film without sounding insane just please give it a go.
Fade to black (1980)
Slasher about a cinephile who kills dressed as various movie characters, a little bit silly in places but a good time! Any classic movie fan will enjoy all the references. This movie took over my brain a couple months ago, Dennis Christopher is just so good in this, I love a film about a complete weirdo.
Earth girls are easy (1988)
Colourful and campy, one of 3 films Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum made together. A fun musical about aliens what's not to love! I love how geena davis' character reacts to 3 aliens landing in her pool it's just so ridiculous. It also has Jim Carey and Damon Wayans in it, honestly it's such a vibe in the best way!

(All but buckaroo banzai are free on youtube last I checked!)
Do you have any underrated 80s movies? Send them my way! I'm always on the lookout for something new!
🧡Stay fab and groovy!💚
The Tall Guy and Earth Girls Are Easy are criminally underrated. Heavy on The Tall Guy
This felt like a side quest photoshoot and I’m here for it
Sam Neill (1947-2026)
Thank you for giving us our childhoods. Thank you for everything
