Working in sales is not as glamorous as some of your friends may think it is, especially when you're the main clerical worker in the sales department.
You're not talking to clients and doing dinners to pull in the cash, no, you're at your desk neck deep in files, print outs, and memos that need sending asap and yet, your coworkers still all find time between their meetings to come and bemoan the office temperature to you. Two of them being cat hybrids that hiss softly whenever the aircon is kicked on in winter, for whatever reason, instead coming to huddle around your little cubical desk in the far corner, positioned just far enough away from the main vent and kept pleasantly warm.
Like right now, coming back from lunch you have found the two orange salesmen sitting content and rumbling softly at your desk, having wheeled their own chairs over and set up shop while you were away.
Shaking your head as you shuffle into your own chair, turning your work PC back on and ignoring the curious little chirps and sounds the two sales men make at you, the two of them well grown adults and fully capable of taking care of themselves, yet the moment they are near your desk and you, it's like having two needy kittens begging for your attention. One of the two salesmen is much, much fluffier than the other and curls his tail around your waist and lets it sit across your lap, as the other cat hybrid leans against your chair, nails catching slightly on the fabric and tugging you more towards him as he purrs as hard as he can to get your attention.
You know the two of them have sales meetings in an hour, and yet here they are, fawning and mewling at you to pay attention to them and share your warmth with them, instead of prepping for the client they had been working with.
Nevertheless you bargain with them, getting the two of them to work on their prep as you adjusted how your chair is placed in the small work area, ignoring the half hidden giggles some of the other sales people give as they come past your desk, grabbing what they need and wishing you luck as the two orange hybrids are leaning against your shoulders and purring happily while discussing sales tactics for their meeting...
The itch to contact HR comes back on occasions like this, but you also know the rep from your floor is another cat hybrid and seems soft on the two orange dumbasses.
