The Power of Being a One Thing Person | Rev. Joel Gregory 

This dynamic preacher came to New Orleans and blessed New Hope with this sermon a few weeks ago. I have been listening and meditating on this word since. This message has truly been a blessing in my life so much so that I wanted to share it with everyone I know.

I've pulled myself away from reading books about relationships. The type of relationships that would prepare me for a mate, things to look for in a mate and/or how to become the person I want to be with. In my season of singleness I do not want my conversations to focus on waiting to be in a relationship. Rather, I want my conversations center on Christ & His goodness. I want to use this time wisely. So I thought of ways that would stretch me to allow God to move that I may be a better disciple. God calls His disciples to make disciples Matt28:19a. So I've been reading books like How to study the bible (John MacArthur), To live is Christ to die is gain (Matt Chandler) Believing God ( Beth Moore) gods at War (Kyle Idleman) and a host of others. Just books that would better equip me to be a better witness for Christ.

There's nothing wrong with reading on how to better yourself within relationships however as Christians the main relationship we should be concern about is the one we have with Christ. If we are on one accord with Christ our relationships with other will reflect that of the relationship with Christ & His bride(The Church) .

All of that to say I agree with the title of this book. As women we want men to call, to open doors, pull out chairs among other things but we do not require or request it so if we do not uphold our end as ladies why do we expect males to be gentleman. "Real Men Don't Text" is currently free on iBooks and Bookshout I am not sure for how long it will be free. Learn YOU. Like YOU. Love YOU. Thank God for loving you before you loved yourself. Before you knew yourself. Before you knew what love is. Figure out your strengths & weaknesses and play on them in your favor. There's power in knowing yourself. There's power in knowing your worth. You are worthy, you were worth Christ dying for ( 2 Corinthians 5 : 21) You are beautiful. Forget what society may say, you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139: 14) you were made in the image of God (Gen 1:27) why are you waiting for others to celebrate/applaud/validate/confirm who you are when God has already done it. No one can change your mind about who you are if you already know who you are and whose you are. The compliments are sweet but I don't need them to thrive or survive. Be complete & confident in Christ Jesus. Whole Cookies 🍪 don't need validation. It’s amazing to me how many “ear to the ground” folks I know have spent so ugh time posting about Beyoncé but still aren’t spreading awareness about #kendrickjohnson . This 17 year old #blackboy was killed on school grounds in #Valdosta Georgia and everyone from the school to the cops to the coroner to the funeral home to the media is complicit in the #coverup . #CNN has been the only news outlet that has followed the story and tried to get the family some answers. HELLO PEOPLE this #blackbody is symbolic of how we as #blackpeople are still seen. THEY FILLED HIS BODY WITH NEWSPAPER! Look at his face! They tried to say he only suffocated?! How when he looks like #emmettill ?! If you can post about how wonderful Beyoncé is or anything else THEN SURELY you can share this story and spread awareness. The coverup is only working because people aren’t informed. The more people know, the more pressure can be put on the town. The US Attorney and FBI are involved but it’s not enough. Where are his rallies? His songs? His poems? Why is his image not being shared across the country? Across the world? Where is the #outrage
