"And the tragedy is the point... They definitely won't forget it, right? So in a way, you'll always be together..."

"Oh, but I'm not shaming! I just think someone dying might be a little too traumatic, y'know? Gets in the way!"

"Especially if the risk of death is high... Imagine dying in someone's arms, wouldn't that leave an indelible impression? Hehe..."

"Dying in someone's arms is so tragic, though! How am I supposed to be with them if they're dead!?"

"How's a girl supposed to get a date when the city's being overrun by glitchy zombie things!" It's dire. To her, anyway.

"I can't eat chocolate, so you can have it." She offers her the whole box. (Why she was given an entire box of chocolate if she can't eat it is anyone's guess.)

"What! Really!" she's more interested in the fact that this is an owl lady talking to her now than she is in the chocolate. Mitsuri hurriedly shoves a couple of pieces in her mouth before following up with more questions.

"So what do you eat!? Do you eat the same things owls eat!? Do you have night vision? Can you perch like an owl?"

"You did."

There's an uncomfortable silence.

"Sorry that you missed it."

"Would you like some chocolate?" She can't really eat it, so it's the least she can do.

"Chocolate won't heal the distress of missing the best holiday in the world!"

"...B-but yes, I would like some chocol--wait are you an owl?"

"OH MY GOD! ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT I MISSED OUT ON AN ENTIRE HOLIDAY CENTERED AROUND LOVE!? This is the worst day ever!" She's being dramatic.

"T-That's good then!" Maybe that game they played all those months ago actually did mean something. Or it was just a farce and everything right now was actual genuine feelings. Either way there was something here, something that Miyoi knew she couldn't run away from. And someone she wanted to be with...

"Mitsuri." She stood up from the seat, taking the open hand of swordswoman with a determined look on her face and mustered up a smile.

"Mitsuri I love you. I really do."

Just as Mitsuri was starting to calm down, what Miyoi said next only served to rile her up more than she'd ever been before. At first, she's stunned into silence, and there's a long, awkward pause between them before Mitsuri squeaks out, "Oh, wow! This is happening so fast...!" Faster than she'd expected, faster than she was ready to deal with! But it's not unwelcome, she's really happy in fact even though she's blushing as red as a tomato and her hands are extra sweaty.

"I-I never thought that someone would confess so plainly!" She's overwhelmed, in short. "BUT I'M SO HAPPY--don't think I'm not happy!" Her voice fluctuates between yelling and whispers as she takes deep breaths to calm herself down. She's been waiting for this for so long, she hadn't prepared herself for the day it could possibly happen!

"I think that's a lonely feeling." He actually hadn't meant to blurt that out, but he did and it's too late to pretend that he said nothing. The small kitten tucked underneath his shirt pokes their tiny little head out and looks up at Sun.

"For just one person to remember everything, or even if those two forgot each other...Just the thought of that feeling being imprinted in your heart is a lonely feeling. You wouldn't know why you felt that way or who you were feeling it for." And didn't Sun KNOW all about that feeling? He hadn't forgotten Zhang San. Hadn't forgotten Tang Sanzang and every day he thought of him, the pain only grew and the loneliness he felt was almost suffocating.

Maybe Sun has a point, but Mitsuri refuses to think of it that way, or rather, she won't allow herself. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were missing someone right now from the way you're talking!" But it's not her business, so she won't pry. Only, it makes sense now that she thinks that she's figured out that much at least. And she leans forward to pet the kitten's head before it ducks back down into Sun's shirt.

"It's lonely sure, but in the end, love always finds a way. You've just got to believe that and then it'll be true! So stop being so gloomy! Or you'll make the cat sad, too!"

"O-Of course I do! Why would I be lying about something like that to you?"

Given what she knew about Mitsuri's past it wasn't that unexpected of a reaction. Maybe a tad bit over the top from the standards she was used to, even if that was mostly with other youkai often. But still being driven to tears over something so simple is a srange feeling, more so from someone like Miyoi of all people.

"But I do yeah. Lot has happened since our little weird five minute session." Amazing to think that's where all of it began in the first place. A dating game even she didn't think would go anywhere at first.

"...Look I don't want you to think any different of me but I've been thinking about you. It's weird to admit when you give out so much and I don't know a single thing about it. But anytime I'm with ya' you managed to brighten my day. That has to mean something right?"

"O-oh..." Well, she hadn't been expecting such a serious answer from Miyoi, but it's not unwelcome. "Yeah, it has, hasn't it..." They'd been through a lot together, and she wouldn't trade any of the experiences that they had shared. Miyoi seemed to feel the same way if Mitsuri was understanding her correctly.

"W-well I could never think differently of you! I like you so much already, I don't think that'll change! And to know that you've been thinking of me too, it makes me feel so nice..."

There was nothing wrong with wanting companionship. He wanted that with the one person that was no longer here. Would Zhang San ever return? He doesn't know, but part of him doesn't want to hold onto that kind of hope. There's nothing wrong with any of it, but...

"You're right though. You don't know how long you'll be here. You could be gone the next day or a year from now. You may be stuck here forever, but there's no telling. Why would you want to put yourself and the person you're interested in through that?" When one left and one stayed or when both were gone in their own respectful world, there was nothing but pain. If you remember your time here, how difficult would it be to just move on?

"Well, I think it's worth it! Because even if it's only temporary, the bonds between people are unbreakable! Even if you're far away or if you leave this city, you'll always care for the people you meet." At least, that's what she believed was true.

"Even if you forget them...those memories will always be imprinted on your heart and so eventually they'll come back! And even if they leave and forget and I'm the one who remembers then I'll just be the living proof of our love! I-Isn't that enough in the end!? It's really romantic when you think about it! I think the person I love would also think so too!"

"Bother me...?" It took a brief moment to try and understand what she was talking about in the moment. Until her eyes focused on the plate in front of the youkai and then over towards Miyoi. Anyone walking by would have thought one of them was out of their mind for that much food on a single platter.

"Well I suppose I've never seen anyone eat that much before. The hungriest customers I've served is probably half of what you have." It still was pretty impressive even if Miyoi did worry sometimes how much was too much for Mitsuri.

"But that's just what makes you who you are right?" Her habits and demeanor make some youkai in Gensokyo look grand in their actions.

"If you wanted to eat one plate or a hundred it wouldn't matter. You're still Mitsuri at the end of the day. And...I guess that's why it's fun to be around you?"

All the feelings of insecurity that Mitsuri felt at her appetite were quickly expelled thanks to Miyoi's assurances. Only made it even more heartfelt when she said that it just made Mitsuri who she was as a person and that she didn't mind that part of her at all. Before she knows it, Mitsuri can feel herself becoming increasingly flustered by the minute, and soon her face is as red as a tomato and her heart feels fit to burst.

While she tries to hold it in, it all just sort of comes out all at once as a flurry of feelings. "M-M-Miyoi you're so wonderful...!" she says at first, quiet, though she starts sobbing a moment afterward in a somewhat comical fashion. "I'VE NEVER HAD ANYONE SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT....! YOU...YOU REALLY..."

"Y-You really love me for who I am!?" She's getting ahead of herself with that notion, but the sentiment still stands!

Anyone else, Sun probably wouldn't believe them. He looks at her, eyes squinted as if doing so would give him an inkling of insight on what she is. She isn't lying. She is human. "Hm. If you say so." He should stop pulling her leg, really.

"I knew it...You really are weird." An eyebrow arches and he follows it with, "Why would you look for someone to settle down with? Especially here?"

He looks at her as if he doesn't believe her, but Mitsuri's always been nothing if not honest, to the point of detriment in some cases as well. She can only breathe a sigh of relief as he drops the subject, only for that to turn into a very sharp offended gasp at his calling her weird.

"W-Weird!? I'm not weird! I just know what I want!" She doesn't know why she feels so offended at that in particular, but maybe it's because it's so important to her. "Well, why not!? We don't know how long we're gonna be stuck here anyway! And it's not like I've had much luck where I come from!" She's getting increasingly more irritatable as she explains herself to him, enough that she's balling her fists and practically shouting, "AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH A LITTLE COMPANIONSHIP ANYWAY!?"

It was almost amazing to see her put that much food on a plate in such a short period of time. And she looked completely prepared to down the entire thing once the two of them decided to find a place to seat. At the very least if she didn't finish anything there was someone to rely on cleaning up her plate...

"Ah don't worry too much I can get it by myself! if I knew you were going to be that hungry though I would have asked if you wanted me to make you something before getting here." Or even told Mitsuri to pick something else herself before arriving. Whichever seemed to be best for the two of them.

"But at least the food looks pretty filling. Guess I shouldn't have expected anything less with how many might show up tonight..."

"Oh...well, this is just a regular portion to me, really!" It's a little embarrassing being open about it...how her appetite is different from most people's. Mitsuri shrugs, sheepish.

"It shouldn't take me long to finish if you wanna do other stuff too, so don't worry!" Sitting across from Miyoi now as she looked back and forth between her and the large plate of food suddenly made Mitsuri feel a little self-conscious. Why was it so hard to be herself in front of someone she liked? Well, that answer was obvious. After being rejected before for being what most would consider abnormal.

After sitting for a moment without digging in, and a bit of a nervous look on her face, she finally speaks up, "It...doesn't bother you, does it? Me, that is..."
