Feeling watched

Neil always felt watched when he was recovering in this stupid pool the humans set up for him. He peaked over the edge of his pool trying his best to make out anyone who might be watching him.
Neil's sight above water was blury at best, he could see nothing but blobs. Something he could safely assume was sand and of course the constantly moving waves of the ocean just a few meters away. So close for a land being and impossibly far for him.
Looking around he couldn't get rid of the ugly feeling but he didn't spot any humans. He didn't even spot the one that kept trying to talk to him.
Put the he finally spots something that might be the cause of his unease, a figure in the water looking at him? Neil stares back trying his best to make out any features. A merman? Light hair? He can only guess.
Neil didn't feel particularly well he had no energy to yell some something. He just flipped the figure off and drove back under the water and curled up in one of the pool's corners. He was at least provided with a few rocks wich he could arrange around him to simulate a cave to the best of his abilities.
