My books sitting unread on my bookshelf:
Whenever I buy a new book I just want to show it off to the whole world. Look how pretty my paper package of pain and tears is. So shiny.
except now during quarantine, there’s no one to show it off to :”(
People: Love is a drug
Me: Ok, but have you tried reading this book-

Reading is just staring at a dead tree and hallucinating.
maybe this is true but it always means sm more than that lmaoo
A death certificate is just a participation award at life
Why do we smile? Why do we laugh? Why do we feel alone? Why are we sad and confused? Why do we read poetry? Why do we cry when we see a painting? Why is there a riot in the heart when we love? Why do we feel shame? What is that thing in the pit of your stomach called desire?
Benjamin Alire Saenz from Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
“Maybe Richie Valens died young-but he did something. I mean, he really did something. Me? What have I done?”
“You have time,” she said. “There’s plenty of time.” The eternal optimist.
~from Benjamin Alire Saenz’s Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
The problem with my life was that it was someone else's idea.
Benjamin Alire Saenz from Aristotle and Dante
“ ‘You talk funny,’ I said.
‘Allergies,’ he said.
‘What are you allergic to?’
‘The air,’ he said.
That made me laugh.
‘My name’s Dante,’ he said.
That made me laugh harder. ‘Sorry,’ I said.
‘It’s okay. People laugh at my name.’
‘No, no,’ I said. ‘See, it’s just that my name’s Aristotle.’
His eyes lit up. I mean, the guy was ready to listen to every word I said.
‘Aristotle,’ I repeated.
Then we both kind of went a little crazy. Laughing...We laughed again. We couldn’t stop. I wondered what it was we were laughing about. Was it just our names? Were we laughing because we were relieved? Were we happy? Laughter was another one of life’s mysteries.”
~Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
“‘Nice to meet you, Ari.’
I liked the way he said Nice to meet you, Ari. Like he meant it.”
~Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
And there wasn't anything mean about him. I didn't understand how you could live in a mean world and not have any of that meanness rub off on you. How could a guy live without some meanness? Dante became one more mystery in a universe full of mysteries.
Ari in Benjamin Alire Saenz’s Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
I wasn't wildly popular. How could I be? In order to be wildly popular you had to make people believe that you were fun and interesting. I just wasn't that much of a con artist.
Ari from Benjamin Alire Saenz’s Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
I was mostly invisible. I think I liked it that way. And then Dante came along.
Ari in Benjamin Alire Saenz’s Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
He tried not to laugh, but he wasn't good at controlling all the laughter that lived inside of him.
Benjamin Alire Saenz’s Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
I got to thinking that poems were like people. Some people you got right off the bat. Some people you just didn't get-and never would get.
