here are some headcanon-y drabbles bits about being w/ leon <3
Leon falls in love fast, but it takes like five times as long for him to let himself actually be in love and pursue it.
A very long courting period where you fear you’ve fallen into a situationship, but each time you’re with him it all feels worth the wait. For Leon, you’re patient. It’s not like he’s a very traditional or stable man.
You finally have a label when he just suddenly starts referring to you as his partner, and the pet names begin to become regular occurrences rather than once in a while or only in bed together. Baby, sweetheart, honey, and a rare angel or babe every once in a while.
Leon likes when you return the favor, asking him “babe, can you hand me that?” or “baby, have you seen my keys?” He’s never outright told you that he likes your pet names, but you’ve caught a light pink dusting his cheeks and the quirk of his lips after you say it more times than you can count. And there's an extra sweet lilt to his voice when he responds.
You have to have the talk with him about it. It takes a week after he’s begun to call you his partner for you to bring it up. To finally acknowledge what the hell the two of you even are. He looks almost shy when he shrugs and just says “I thought it was obvious.” What a fuckin’ dummy. Affectionately.
His most favorite part of the day is when you sidle up next to him and ask for a cuddle. His arm will slide from the top of the couch to your shoulders or curl around your ribs and pull you into his chest.
Leon is a homebody, because he feels like he can never appreciate the ability to be home enough, especially since you’d be there waiting for him. You both get out of the house from time to time, whether it’s to see friends or take a walk or go out to eat. Leon likes simple things; he doesn’t need anything crazy to enjoy spending time with you. I honestly think his ideal date night out of the house would be good food at a restaurant, then a walk in a peaceful, nature-y area with you. In early autumn especially, when the weather's still warm but a cool breeze has begun to blow. The leaves beginning to wilt yellow and orange, but only a bit. There's still a rare firefly or two around. If you're lucky, you can see some stars in the sky.
Leon appreciates the small things you do, because nobody’s ever done them for him before. Cooking him a homemade meal, washing his hair in the shower, folding his laundry. Getting him gifts. Rubbing his sore shoulders without asking; you can always tell by his fatherly grunts and constant rolling when they’re sore. He’s not very subtle around you, even if it’s not on purpose.
The first time you got him flowers, a bouquet of white bleeding hearts amongst some other assorted florals, he’d nearly done a double take. He’d gotten you flowers before, because, well, he’s your partner. But he’d never been on the receiving end of a bouquet. The paper had crinkled in his hands as he held them delicately, like if he breathed wrong they may die. You joked that the bleeding hearts had reminded you of him, dangling petals flopping towards the floor like him and his hair that he's never changed. You also told him not to worry, that you could water them since he’s no good at keeping plants alive. He’d looked at you like you had bought him a million dollar luxury car, and vowed to water them himself. And he did keep them alive longer than usual. It made you smile every time you crossed the dining room and saw them still in bloom. Leon thinks that was the real gift to him.
Leon’s like a mom. If you lose something, he somehow knows where it is. Like immediately. His investigative skills are useful at home.
And when they’re not useful, they’re annoying. Good luck keeping birthday gifts in the house or any kind of surprise from him for more than a couple hours. You hide a gift in the back of the closet, in a shoe box, underneath a myriad of random shit? He will decide oh, time to clean that. Or hey have you seen this random object I haven’t thought about in years? Oh, what’s this underneath it?

As far as PDA goes, I feel like he’s not much for huge displays. A peck here and there, and his arms/hands floating somewhere on your body is the usual. Unless you’re reuniting in public on a rare occasion. Then you won’t be able to hold back practically jumping on him, and he doesn’t mind. He holds you for as long as you need, even if people stare.
Leon’s not much of a texter once your relationship begins to get more serious. Although with you, he tries his best to check in if he can’t call you. Those texts read more like a letter you’ve received from your husband off to war. Well. That’s not too far off sometimes.
Otherwise, your text thread reads with hundreds of variations of Call me? and then, in between, random pictures or links to videos you’ll send him. He looks at the pictures, but won’t respond. You know he looks at them because he’ll bring it up whenever he speaks to you next. The links though? He waits to watch them with you. Because usually they’re silly videos, and he prefers sharing the laugh with you while he can hear yours. It’s far more enjoyable to him.
Leon’s favorite thing to do with you is probably just having a lazy weekend morning with no plans for the day. The two of you can stay in bed as long as possible (whether sleeping or something more active) and even when you finally get up, it’s an unhurried, relaxed time making breakfast in the kitchen. The smell of coffee brewing and bacon sizzling on the stove. Leon makes the best breakfast. A whole feast; pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, fruit, and whatever else you may want. He’ll do anything for you.
Sometimes, he'll fall asleep with his head on your lap after breakfast. You're pretty sure caffeine doesn't do much for him anymore. Watching him sleep is a treasure. His eyes will slide shut over the course of an hour of trying to avoid it. But he eventually gives in and buries his face in your stomach. He hugs you around your waist like his favorite pillow as he dozes.
Once he finally wakes, the two of you usually go for a walk or a run later just to do something active. As much as he enjoys lounging around with you, Leon gets restless if he doesn't do something at least once a day.
Overall, especially by the time he gets to his late 40s, I think the three words to describe Leon as your partner would be loyal, patient, and attentive.
i dont think leons the hand holding in public type of guy.
there are times he does reach for your hand, of course, like if you're spooning him, he likes to put his hand on yours where you hug him across his ribs.
if he notices you're fidgeting or nervous. he squeezes your hand to remind you he's there, that he loves you.
if he notices your hands are cold, his are covering yours in an instant, rubbing warmth back into them until he's safisfied that you are no longer apparently at risk for frostbite. if you're on the move together, he's holding one of your hands in his jacket pocket. and he will switch sides to ensure both of your hands are warm, if necessary.
additionally, he's never denying you or pulling away if you reach for his hand. he will gladly thread his fingers through yours, running a thumb over your knuckles until you're ready to let go.
but these are all specific circumstances. if he's needing to feel you, which he pretty much always does, he foregoes hand holding for something more intimate to him.
his go-to is a hand on the small of your back. whether he's passing by you in the kitchen and it's a brief touch, or he's standing next to you in the store while you're explaining something to him, palm pressed firmly to that dip in your back like it was carved out just for his hand.
if you're in the car together, his hand always finds its way across the console to grip your thigh. it doesn't matter which one of you is driving, his hand is always there, tapping his fingers to the radio, giving your leg a squeeze when you say something that makes him laugh.
you decide to wear bottoms with a pocket, with belt loops? his hand is finding its way in your back pocket as you walk wherever you're going. he can't help that you happen to own every pair of jeans that fit you perfectly. if he feels like it's a little too handsy for a public situation, he hooks his thumb into one of your back belt loops, his arm resting around your waist.
if his touches are a little possessive, so be it. you lean into him every time and he loves having you underneath his hands.
