Depression Bottle Charm and Ritual
This is another one I like to keep on my person, so I make it small (though of course you can make it any size based on your needs).
While setting up your area, CONCENTRATE on the purpose of your work. Imagine how good it feels to be happy. Do not let negative thoughts enter your mind if you can help it. Just prior to your work, bathe in purification herbs or oils (lavender or rosemary is great), or with your favorite bath salts. While you are bathing, concentrate again on the purpose of your spell.
You need:
A bottle or jar with a lid (or cork)
Lavender, oil or dried
Rosemary, fresh, dried or oil
Stone chips of any of the following: agate, carnelian, jasper, lapis lazuli, malachite, obsidian, or tigerseye (you can usually find these in the beading section of your local craft store)
any size candle (dark blue, yellow, or white)
your favorite incense
After bathing, go to your work area. Cast a circle and light your incense. Envision a large, yellow ball of light surrounding you and your work area. Hold the yellow candle between the palms of your hands and direct all of your positive energy into the candle. Place the candle in its candleholder.
Prior to lighting the candle, say, (either aloud, or to yourself):
This candle represents the love and energy I have for myself
Light the candle and say (either aloud or to yourself):
As I light this candle, the veil of darkness that is ever present in my mind is lifting. The darkness ceases to exist as the light of this flame glows. Long has the darkness filled my mind, my desire to be happy is intense like the heat of fire. As this candle burns, my spirits are lifting and the negative energy is washing away. I will be happy; my life will be peaceful. I can see myself as I wish to be-happy and free
Sit back and watch the candle burn. Add your ingredients to your bottle or jar as you watch. Meditate on how good if feels to be happy and envision the veil of darkness lifting. When the candle had burned 1/3 of the way, say (either aloud or to yourself):
As the flame of the candle is extinguished-the light burns forever in my mind
After the candle has burned away and the leftover wax has cooled-throw away the leftover wax into to trash and envision your depression being thrown away with the wax. Seal your container so that the healing energy of this ritual is encased inside, and you can keep it with you for whenever you need that energy again.

The Types of Psychic Power
In Ellen Dugan’s Natural Witchery (which has become almost a textbook for me lately), she gives a great outline of the four types of psychic power, or psychic ability. This can be thought of as a Witch’s power well, or method by which she is most inclined to in divination or drawing power.
Clairvoyant: This is “Seeing”, in the classical sense. Clairvoyants are great visualizers, and find that they can see outcomes and results more clearly than others. They may get images that pop into their head, or see a situation play out both in and out of divination. Usually, clairvoyants find best success in highly visual spells using correspondent tools, and are excellent scryers.
Clairaudient: “Hearing things”, having music pop in your head that is relevant to the scenario, and being able to tell a person’s temperament or truth by listening to their voice falls under clairaudience. This is essentially the aural equivalent to clairvoyance: If you’re prone to being affected most by music in ritual, rather than ritual setting, you might be clairaudient.
Empath: Understanding and feeling the emotions around you, and the resulting emotions from a situation. To empaths, this may feel very second nature: Do you take on the mood of other people in crowds very easily? Can you be in a great mood, then hug a friend who is depressed and immediately feel their pain? You may be an empath! Unlike intuitives, who “know” what something is, empaths actually feel that thing.
Intuitive: Having a “gut feeling”, or “just knowing”, what something is or when it’s going to happen. Unlike clairvoyants or empaths, who feel this by seeing or imagining it happen, or emotionally understanding or attuning to what will happen, intuitives get a quick punch in the gut (or brain) with a clear crystal view of what is to be. As a result, intuitives can often forget or second-guess that vision, but with practice, intuition grows clearer. Being an intuitive, this is the only one I’m actually qualified to talk at length on, but for me, it feels like a deep squeezing in the solar plexus when I reach for, think of, or say I’m going to do something. Often, if I try to do that thing anyway, the squeezing/foreboding grows and it’s unmistakeable I should try something else. Many intuitives feel this in their throat, between the eyes, or upper chest rather than the solar plexus, as well.
Witches and magick-users often have one primary, strongest mode of psychic power they identify with, and consequently use most, but many also have a second (or third!) power that is lesser (or even equally!) strong. Feel it out, and you’ll be able to figure out beyond a doubt how you’re receiving your psychic information.
Blessed Be!

The Thirteen Goals of a Witch
1. Know yourself. Know who you really are and don’t lie to yourself.
2. Know your Craft. Attain a deep understanding of your Craft, so you can get the most out of it.
3. Learn. The more you know, the more you can help yourself and the world.
4. Apply knowledge with wisdom. Use your knowledge wisely. Remember the Wiccan Rede.
5. Achieve balance. Help yourself before you help others. Make sure you are healthy and balanced: emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
6. Keep your words in good order. Speak only the truth and speak with intelligence.
7. Keep your thoughts in good order. Rid yourself of all negativity.
8. Celebrate life. Make your life as good as it can possibly be.
9. Attune with the cycles of the Earth. You are a part of Nature. Use that connection to help yourself and the world around you.
10. Breathe and eat correctly.
11. Exercise the body. A good physical body helps your mental body.
12. Meditate. Bring yourself closer to the Divine and enhance your abilities.
13. Honour your chosen Deity/Deities. Without Them, there is no life. Thank Them.
The Signs as Witches
Aries: uses bodily ingredients such as hair or teeth or nails, wild and free and howling at the moon, fire tells them what they want to know, embraces all but does not tolerate betrayal, gifted in the use of poppets and curses, full of energy and static and power
Taurus: a collector of many things, uses crystals and herbs, proficient in kitchen magic, has an inner strength that knows no bounds and no true master, a home full of colored glass and jars filled with anything you could ever need, rooted and able, wears robes with many many pockets
Gemini: a card reader and game changer, spoken spells fill the very air with magic and potential, an avid learner and sharer of their craft, books and tomes and candles fill their space, knows the power of words and names, tattoos sigils and spells all over their body and they seem to move when you aren’t looking, vast and uncontainable
Cancer: rests under the moon and whispers magic in their sleep, uses astral projection to explore and learn and play with ghosts, elaborate and detailed dream diary, deep understanding of astrology, somehow already knows what you’re going to say, mysterious and soft but only on the surface, a knower of secrets, sleepy eyes, lives in a tree in a misty forest and makes friends with the plants and spirits there
Leo: strongest in the day and has eyes that light up the night, mighty voice and skilled hands, breath carries a spark, animalistic energy you can feel when they look at you, makes their own spells borrows their own power, incredible visualization makes their dreams realities, difficult to look at directly for reasons you don’t really understand, wild hair and adorned in gems
Virgo: techno witch, weaves magic into code and text, keeps a blog as their book of shadows and altar, urban magic, has a restless mind and busy hands, deletes negativity out of their life, has much information to share despite their hollow look, eyes are lit from the inside, their phone is full of pictures that keep moving and notes only they can read
Libra: covered in veils and breathes perfume to hide themselves and confuse you, summons creatures and demons to do their bidding so their hands remain clean, almost transparent at times like a ghost or vision, is stronger than they look and delights in you not knowing their power, their mouth is almost always moving but you can’t hear what they say, soft to the touch but their skin is cold, trinkets and charms and chains adorn them and their home
Scorpio: eyes and nails are dark and caked in black, frequents graveyards and learns from the ghosts and crows, solitary witch who makes friends with bones, will help you learn what you want to know for a price, is afraid to sleep, quiet and haunted, is reborn each new moon, is full of knowing and fog and promise, takes a lock of hair from all they help, you feel them in your core
Sagittarius: rides their broom with reckless abandon, plays with the children on Halloween and shows them magic is real, their home has legs and never stays still, keeps many familiars and most are birds, gifted in charms and potions and sells their work with a smile, you can hear them laughing with the moon at night, chapped lips and wide eyes, magic is erratic and spontaneous and they couldn’t control it if they wanted to
Capricorn: loose black and gray clothing that flows when they walk, keeps a pouch of salt around their neck at all times, face is often covered or hard to see, protection spells and sigils are their innate ability, the floor trembles when they are angry, always watching watching watching, lives in a stone cottage covered with moss and scrawlings and carvings, other witches are silent around them out of fear and awe
Aquarius: hermit, storm witch, plays with rain and dances with lightning and shouts thunder, keeps trinkets and mementos in small jars around their bed, asks favors and learns from the clouds, raw and swift and ready to act, soft as a summer rain and cold as hail, hair is full of leaves and wind, feet are dirty but their mind is clean and sharp
Pisces: smells of salt and dressed in rags and burlap and pearls, misty eyes that look through you and deep deep down in you, water witch with a soft face and an ocean for a heart, thing of the sea, empath who sometimes knows you better than you do, bottles own tears and keeps them for spells, witch of all trades master of none, head is full of crashing waves, overflowing with magic and wonder

Travel is little beds and cramped bathrooms. It’s old television sets and slow Internet connections. Travel is extraordinary conversations with ordinary people. It’s waiters, gas station attendants, and housekeepers becoming the most interesting people in the world. It’s churches that are compelling enough to enter. It’s McDonald’s being a luxury. It’s the realization that you may have been born in the wrong country. Travel is a smile that leads to a conversation in broken English. It’s the epiphany that pretty girls smile the same way all over the world. Travel is tipping 10% and being embraced for it. Travel is the same white T-shirt again tomorrow. Travel is accented sex after good wine and too many unfiltered cigarettes. Travel is flowing in the back of a bus with giggly strangers. It’s a street full of bearded backpackers looking down at maps. Travel is wishing for one more bite of whatever that just was. It’s the rediscovery of walking somewhere. It’s sharing a bottle of liquor on an overnight train with a new friend. Travel is “Maybe I don’t have to do it that way when I get back home.
