Oughhhhh I gotta finish reading…. Book… need to re-add…. Cat wife…. To list… but I feel like I’m doing her a disservice because I only remember so much….
Oughhh wait thinking about Mallow having a wish to be strong and protect Mami. Imagining that Mami doesn’t have to worry about constantly protecting her new apprentice/friend/love, but instead is protected by them. When things get tough she will always know that Mallow really can handle it, and afterwards Mami will do what she can to take care of them and help them feel better and comfort them. And they can reassure Mami that she isn’t alone and that she can be scared and sad with them if she needs.
Also giving power to my younger self because I was weak and hurt and unable to properly defend myself is really cathartic. I was going to say the idea is a little comical, someone so little and so young having just bonkers strength, but honestly it’s more wishful than anything. I wish I had been able to protect myself and the people I love.
Okay more Mallow thoughts because I need to. Puzzle these things out. I just remembered I can make my self inserts even younger. My turn to be a little guy.
Temporarily in a different magical girl outfit but it may stick? Alternatively I may finally do my plural magical girl thing. Have like 3 canon designs for one character for different headmates. As I deserve. 💖
Okay. Okay for real at some point tonight. Also. I am struggling to decide if I use my magical girl design that past-me made back when I first saw the anime, or if I should come up with an official design for Mallow.
Some art of my beautiful wonderful incredible wife girlfriend Mami!!! I wanted to celebrate, because my dear friend @kakusu-shipping sent me a really wonderful package with the best treasures, including a little figure of Mami! (And Madoka- and a bunch of stuff! See below for Mami and Madoka and a tinyyy Lalaloopsy) I’m so happy she’s home!!!
Do you want to help me out? In exchange for some kind of sketch? That I will get to you as soon as I can (hopefully within the next month or so I'm sorry life is fucking crazy lately)???
You can donate here -> https://ko-fi.com/emmyluna
Send me a message either on ko-fi with your donation or on here! It's pay what you want, but if you want a full color sketch I ask that you send at least $25 🙇♀️
The examples above are what I can do for a simple sketch, colored sketch, or full color! If you don't specify what you'd prefer (or you don't have a preference) I'll just go with what feels right. I can draw one or two characters, NO MORE THAN THAT, please specify who you'd like and I'd appreciate a visual reference. They will all be upper body sketches like above, I won't do full body.
I will reiterate that YOU NEED TO GIVE ME SOME TIME TO GET YOUR SKETCH BACK TO YOU. These are more a "thank you" than an actual commission, my life is very busy and stressful and ever changing at the moment. I will aim for within a month, but it could be closer to two. I WILL DO MY BEST!!!!!
I'm not very good with just Yes or No Questions but I'd LOVE to ask about your selfship with Mami if I may, how her and your S/I met and their dynamic and what have you pleeease?
YES. Yes. You very much may.
Largely I do ship myself with her as my kin, Madoka, that is a different story that I’ll be happy to share if you want to hear. :3
As for my S/I meeting- (using the story from the last Iteration of this self insert! I still need to settle on a damn design, but that’s not important!) I’m going to use ‘Mallow’ aa their placeholder name, it may change or it may stick!
LONG AS HELL!! Below read more
Mallow’s dad got invited on a business venture in Japan, one that would be extended-stay, and was offered the opportunity to bring his family with him. He was fully prepared to accept the offer, but Mallow’s mom weighed in that she wasn’t sure she was ready to completely pick up their life and move away. And Mallow, though excited by the premise of getting to see Japan, also wasn’t sure they would be able to handle it or adjust well enough, especially considering how much they already struggled to make and keep friends. So Mallow’s dad gave a tentative yes, and decided to take the family on a couple week vacation while he helped with the work, just to see if it would be a good fit.
Mallow is super excited and very nervous for the trip, and as much as they do end up enjoying learning about different places and getting to see new things, they’re far too shy to attempt to communicate in the very rudimentary and super weak Japanese they’ve been trying to pick up from their dad. But nonetheless, their parents do insist on them going and exploring some on their own, and maybe tryinf to make some friends in their peer group since this might be their home. Their family chose to check out Mitakihara Town, a city very close to the one that Mallow’s dad would be working in.
So Mallow takes some short trips out to see the city, get some food, buy a few small trinkets, tryinf their very best to stay out of everyone’s way. But when you tend to watch your feet when you walk, sometimes you bump into others.
On one of these little excursions, Mallow was feeling particularly nervous after fumbling a conversation, and was shamefully walking back to the hotel they were staying in. They ended up bumping into the most beautiful person they’ve ever seen, and were beat to an apology, a reassuring smile, and being asked if they were okay. Mallow could only really mutter a reply before apologizing profusely. And she giggled, and told them to be a little more careful, and went on her way.
Mallow couldn’t stop picturing her for the next couple days. Her gorgeous golden hair and eyes, the sound of her voice. They wondered what it would be like to hold her hand.
They went out more after that, frequenting the same path they had seen her on. But on one afternoon, they saw a small group of people all shuffling down an alley. It was an odd sight, it seemed like they were all a little out of it. And then a strong sensation pulled Mallow to follow them, one that they could not deny.
The sensation was numbing, but didn’t stop the questions in Mallow’s mind. Where are we going?
Once they reached their destination, they circled beneath a flashing streetlight. The light seemed to completely envelop anything within it, somehow seemed almost opaque when it flashed on. And then strange noises echoed and preyed on the quiet street; they almost sounded like voices, almost.
The circle of people that stood around the light began to lift their arms to one another’s throats. Mallow could only wonder why this was happening. As the circle’s hands began to clench down, a shattering sound pierced the odd whispers. A strange sigil appeared in the light. Some people in the circle were forced into the light, and seemingly vanished.
Mallow was next to be pushed into that light. Inside the sigil was a distorted and maddening place, and the spell on them only grew stronger. Mallow’s questions became a quiet lull in the background as they were marched towards an enormous figure wielding two cooking knives. The people before them in line were headed towards stovetop the size of a building.
And all of a sudden, a golden light burst in. And the dozens more of golden streaks shot through the towering thing. And floating through the air, practically dancing as she propelled herself with her ribbons, was the girl from before. She was dressed so differently now, and was conjuring an arsenal of guns to take down their tormentor. Seeing her, and the memory of her reassuring words, began to break the spell.
And then a small white creature followed after her, and spotted Mallow. It seemed to be studying them from a distance. It approached Mallow and somehow seemed to help remove the rest of the influence from whatever this giant thing was. And then it spoke, “You know, you could help her fight the Witch, and protect these people. She seems strong, but someday she may need help.”
Mallow was a little surprised, despite the other things they had already seen, and at this point they were becoming pretty certain this was a fever induced nightmare.
“What can I do? I can’t make guns appear, I can’t even walk without stumbling! I don’t even know what’s happening-“
One of the knives flew from the Witch’s hand and sped towards Mallow, the small creature, and the people still walking in line. Just before it could get close enough, the girl with the golden curls stopped it with her ribbons and shot it into pieces.
Mallow was terrified, starstruck, dazed, and could barely catch her breath before she was scooped up in the arms of the girl fighting to protect her. She had pulled Mallow close and leapt into the air, just in time to avoid the intentional swipe from the other knife.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have this finished soon,” her voice cleared some of Mallow’s swimming thoughts, and they felt so much safer and reassured. The girl sat them behind a baking sheet, at least 10 feet tall. “You should be safer here! Just wait here and things will be okay,” her words were sincere and confident. But Mallow couldn’t help but wonder about what that little white thing said about them helping.
The girl turned back to her enemy, and within minutes it was vanquished. The distortions looked as though they were melting back into reality, and a small object sat in the center of the flashing street lamp’s light.
The people that had gathered started to grumble and regain some awareness, most unharmed thanks to the girl’s efforts.
“I’m Mami Tomoe. I’m sorry our second meeting went like this. Are you alright? Any injuries?” Her hands were holding Mallow’s and looking them over. Her questions were so kind. And her name was so perfect and beautiful.
“I- it’s okay. I think I’m okay. Thank you for saving me, saving us. I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anything. I wish I could have helped,” Mallow’s voice came in mostly tremors, still too shocked to fully realize how their body was handling all this.
The small white creature reappeared and crawled onto Mami’s shoulder.
“Save your wishes for what really matters. I was able to defeat the Witch, so please don’t worry.” Something about those words felt like they held a lot of meaning to her, meaning Mallow wanted so badly to understand.
The white creature stared at Mallow again.
Mallow wasn’t sure what to say, but they didn’t want to have to walk away now, how could they after all that? What even happened?
“I’m very glad you seem alright. I’m going to check on a few of the others, and then I’ll be getting back to patrolling.”
Mallow couldn’t let this be the end of it, how could it be? “Wait please- I, thank you so much for saving me, I’m new here and confused and I don’t know what just happened but I. I really want to be your friend! I’ve been lonely and you’re really amazing and maybe I could even help you like, like that creature said!”
Mami paused, and smiled, it almost seemed like she was fighting back something that made her want to cry. “We can be friends,” Mami’s voice was light and teetered between grateful and something more bittersweet. She gestured to Mallow’s pocket. Mallow took out their phone (still okay!) and were happy to see Mami’s name and number when it was returned to them.
Mallow returned to the hotel and questioned if any of what just happened was real. But when they woke up the next morning and saw the number was still in their phone, the real adventure began.
