A party was in full swing, a common occurrence on the Moby Dick since the Whitebeard pirates were no stranger to letting loose and having fun, and you were no exception a tankard of ale firmly in your hold as you watched your brothers in their drunken stupor.
Thatch had gotten on top of the counter starting a dance performance with a few other members who joined him, only feeling slightly concerned for him falling but you knew he wasn't a lightweight.
You noticed a few of the division commanders huddled around in a drinking contest with a crowd yelling out their bets on the winner, Curiel looked close to throwing in the towel but was still holding on, Blenheim, Rakuyo and Fossa were seemingly neck and neck, but you knew that Rakuyo would win, since being part of the crew for so many years you had never once seen him lose at a drinking contest.
Haruta seemed to be commentating the whole thing with what some would assume to be years of experience, given how he expertly held the attention of the small crowd as naturally as breathing was.
Namur and Blamenco were the ones in charge of the bets, with Namur keeping an extremely detailed list of the bets everyone was giving out, while Blamenco supplied the fish-man with pen and paper while also storing the bellies that were being stored safely in one of his pockets.
Marco, Izou, Vista and Jozu were sitting nearby watching with amusement over the contest, while enjoying some lighthearted conversation, a much calmer energy compared to the rest of the crew.
All this while Pops watched over a fond smile on his face watching his kids have some fun, while enjoying some alcohol himself even though nurse Tate kept on scolding him to stop drinking.
You watched this all sitting against the railing quietly, just enjoying the fun atmosphere, but if you were being honest one person in particular definitely took up most of your attention, even if you weren't currently in a drunken state.
A laugh rang throughout the deck, making your heart stutter and your stomach do a flip as your face warmed up at the sound, which had nothing to do with your choice of beverage tonight.
Looking up, your eyes instantly landed on a shirtless raven heard man, his head was thrown back, his mouth wide open in a blinding smile, his hand resting over his bright orange hat keeping it from falling off, his other hand raised high, bumping his own tankard against another's in a cheer.
Portgas D. Ace.
The fiery Second Division Commander had been occupying the space behind your eyes so easily, yet he had no idea how you'd made a comfortable spot just for him in your heart. But for now just being near him and enjoying the space and attention that he commanded was more than enough for you.
Ace had been steadily making his way through the chaos of the party, checking in on everyone making sure no one felt left out or lonely during the night, it was honestly heart warming seeing the once closed off, hate filled pirate change to a bright loving goof ball.
Downing more of your drink, Ace had set his sights on you and was by your side in seconds, sitting next to you with an easy going smile, bumping his drink against your own when you pulled it down to give him your attention.
"What are you doing sitting here by yourself? Not having fun?" He asked, still keeping that fun loving and teasing smile, but you could tell there was a subtle look of concern, that maybe you weren't having fun and he was right by you to change it if that was the case.
Your lips curled up before letting out a chuckle at his concern, that warm feeling that always seemed to come around whenever he was next to you, like a moth drawn to a flame and you wouldn't mind getting a bit burned.
"Course not! Just enjoying the party in a different way!" you grin before taking another sip of your drink and turning your attention back to the crew messing around on the deck, mostly to stop yourself from staring at Ace some more, but if you were honest you would probably go right back to doing that sooner rather than later.
He just laughed out that lovely sound and looked over at the crew as well, still seated and not looking like he’ll be getting up anytime soon, like he was making sure you were having fun and that you weren’t alone.
Damn.
That thought might be your undoing.
Glancing to the side your eyes danced over his face taking in the way his eyebrows arch, the relaxed almost lazy way his eyes rest like he was seconds away from falling asleep, which was probably true, the way his smile is wide almost all consuming that manages to always take your breath away.
But the thing that takes your attention the most is his freckles.
Your gaze raking over every single one that littered his cheeks and shoulders, wondering if he had more or they were just the result of you staring or maybe wishing that more would appear the next day.
"Your freckles" a soft mutter left your lips and you thought it would be drowned out by the party, but then your view turned to look back at you.
He titled his head letting out a questioning hum "What about them?"
A long silence fell over you both and Ace was beginning to wonder if he actually did imagine you saying something.
That was until he noticed the soft flush over your cheeks, how your smile turned more soft and your eyes looked way too gentle than he had ever seen before, way too warm, way too... loving.
He felt his body warm up and not because of the nasty tasting fruit he had eaten years ago, small flames ignited over his shoulders, while he stared wide eyed at your expression which looked way too natural and made something stir in his chest.
"They look like stars" you hummed, looking over his freckles like you were checking something, you must have found it because you then let out a satisfied noise before turning back to watch the party, that too genuine to be fake expression on your face.
"Really pretty stars" a soft giggle followed, you looked so relaxed and your voice was so tender.
Ace had never heard you sound like that before, he had never seen you like this before, and the fact that you were showing such a gentle side of yourself to him even while drunk, it did things to him.
He managed to sputter out random noises as he tried to control the flames that he was unintentionally letting go wild, before thinking he was feeling too much right now, and tilted his orange cowboy style hat down to cover his bright red freckled face, then moved his drink in front of him so that you couldn't even see his head.
This in turn made you let out a loud laugh throwing your head back at how shy the guy who was easily integrating himself into other conversations moments ago, was now a fiery flustered mess at your words.
Ace could feel his heart beating way faster than it should be, he could feel it get stuck in his throat, but he made sure to lower his cup and peer at you under the rim of his hat, while a warm soft feeling settled in his heart while he realized he really liked how you looked while laughing like that, and wouldn't mind if he could see your smile more often.
♡ similar to Luffy, he enjoys sharing his food with you just to see your face light up with delight
♡ takes you to all kinds of different restaurants and bakeries so you can taste test them together
♡ very very clingy! though he tries to be subtle about how much he needs to be around you, he always ends up failing, and begging for your attention with wide pleading eyes, and pouting lips
♡ enjoys eating spicy foods, and always always asks if you want to add spices to yours whatever it is you're eating
♡ loves resting his head in your lap, especially when you start playing with his hair, he can't help but hum in pleasure
♡ hates when you're mad at him, he tries giving you space, but always ends up apologizing almost immediately, he can't stand being the reason you're smile left
♡ loves when he gets to watch you get ready in your room, especially when you put on your lipstick - the way smoothly apply the shade to your lips just blows his mind
♡ that, and the fact that whenever you apply your lipstick he knows he's going to end up covered in kisses some time soon
♡ so he just sits there, legs crossed on the floor, looking up at you with a sly grin and sparkling eyes
♡ to which you always you side-eye him, falling into a familiar routine of pointless banter, as you ask
♡ "what're you waiting for?"
♡ to which he gives you that iconic grin of his, the one that's carefree and warm as he leans back on his hands, and replies
♡ "for my pretty girlfriend to finish applying that lipstick of hers so i can kiss her stupid"
♡ you raise your brow,
♡ "that so" placing your lipstick back on the stand, you leaned down, so close that your lips we're practically already touching
♡ as you expected his face turned a vibrant red, flickers of embers and sparks danced around you both as he let out an embarrassed cough, eyes flickering in every direction but yours
♡ placing your finger under his chin, you drag it slowly towards the red-beaded strap that hung limply above his collar bone, you allow a sly smile to make its way across your face as you watched sweat stream down his face, adams apple bobbing nervously as he allowed you to pull him closer and press your lips against his
♡ it was soft, warm, and needy...and it ended way to quick
♡ "Wha-" ace mumbled, but was cut short as you presumed to cover his face in kisses
♡ Next thing you know ace is on the floor staring at the ceiling in a daze, his face slowly beginning to cool off after he had accidentally burst into flames mid-kiss
♡ which has happened far more time than you can count
♡ you offer to help him clean the lipstick off how face but he quickly shakes his head
♡ "I think I'll keep it a little longer... "
♡ you laugh, smiling teasingly as you say
♡ "do you at least want help with that"
♡ you point to his arm, which had engulfed itself in flames
♡ "Yes...please! "
