summary: y/n and Jud where Inseparable in their teenage years. spending most of their days in her older brothers boxing gym. y/n tolerated violence but loathed having to watch Jud in the ring. The day he killed a man brought everything to a screeching hault. years later Jud's returns and attempt to retrieve a note but gets a lot more.
warnings: heavy religious elements, smut (ofc) cursing, drinking, probably some other stuffโฆ
Author note: I suggest reading the beginning of this part while listening to โI put a spell on youโ by nina Simone. Trust me it js makes it better, play it on repeat if you can.
And just like that, Jud was off his stool, taking your hand and guiding you off yours to the clear floor at the back of the bar. He placed your hand on his shoulder and his on your waist. His eyes never leaving yours.
โI put a spell on you.โ
โBecause youโre mine.โ
โYou better stop the things you do.โ
You swayed slowly to the beat, the alcohol causing you to feel every part of the rhythm. His eyes dropped to your lips lazily, and unlike before, he didnโt rush to move them.
โYouโre mine.โ
The lyrics echo in your ears.
โI love you.โ
โI love you.โ
โI love you.โ
โI love you anyhow.โ
And in the heat of the moment, with the mixture of the alcohol, the music, and his eyes, you admitted it.
โI read the note,โ you confess, looking up at him.
โI know,โ he said with a slow smile before lifting his arm to spin you around.
โYou knew. How?โ You asked once you were back facing him. He held you closer, chest to chest, as you swayed.
โThereโs no way youโd be speaking to me if you hadnโt.โ
โTrue,โ you smiled.
โI donโt care if you donโt want me.โ
โIโm yours right now.โ
There's a beat as you two stared at each other. the music buzzing through you
โI love you,โ he confessed like it was the first time. And like the first time, it hit you just as hard. that feeling you can only explain as electricity jolting your heart.
โI never stopped,โ you reveal, placing your hand on his racing heart. He smiled in response, a pained one.
โThis isnโt going to end well, huh?โ You hum, placing your head on his chest.
โNo,โ Jud hummed, hand coming up to cup your head. The quiet part was said out loud, and even knowing that. You knew yโall were going to try anyway. You two stayed there, who knows how long, swaying back and forth in your comfortable rhythm.
~~~~~
And then you two were in front of your apartment door. He leaned against the edge of your railing. With sleeves rolled up, his shirt's top buttons unbuttoned, and tattoos on full display. His hair was tousled slightly from running his hand through it.
Lord have mercy.
You dug in your bag for your keys, stumbling slightly. He was beside you in a second, hands on your waist to stabilize you. You took a deep inhale.
โJudโ
โIโm sorry I thought-โ
โ-Itโs not,โ you interrupt, trying to find the words.
โAhh,โ he nodded slowly, putting the pieces together.
โHow are you getting home? You shouldnโt drive.โ
โI was going to walk.โ
โWalk??โ
โThere was a motel like a couple blocks from the bar.โ
โJud,โ you sigh, โyou can sleep on the couch; we donโt have to do anything,โ you say, trying to sound as sincere as possible, but internally, every part of you was screaming for him.
โWe both know what happens if I go inside,โ he sighed before running his hand over his face like he was making the toughest decision in his life.
โyes or noโ
In one step he was less than a breath away. His eyes raked over you feverishly.
โIs there any reality where we donโt?โ he asked, his breath tickling your nose. The question was sincere. Couldnโt even muster a response, falling into the daze of his smell, slowly shaking your head no. Before you could say anything else, his lips were on yours; you could tell he wanted to be gentle but couldnโt. He kissed you like you had the air for his lungs. It wasnโt hungry; it was starved. His hand came to rest on your neck for support, pulling you deeper into the kiss. Your knees grew weak, and his free hand returned to your waist.
โOpen the door,โ he huffed out once he finally broke the kiss. You did just that; Jud followed close behind into the apartment. You dropped your keys on the counter with a loud clunk. Judโs arms wrap around you from behind.ย His breath is warm against the back of your neck. He gently moved your hair to the side, dropping his head to breathe in your scent. He unintentionally pushed you into the counter, so he was pressing against you. You could already feel him hardening in his pants.
โYou smell the same,โ he hummed before leaving soft, slow kisses down your neck. You let out a whisper of a moan, stretching your neck to give him more access. His hands roamed freely over your body, enjoying the softness of your skin. His fingers dipped under your dress as they glided over your thigh.
โAll I dream about is you,โ he confessed, hand now on your waist, your dress bunched up above it. You could barely hear him, your brain starting to go fuzzy. He turned you around so you were facing him. His lips were back on yours like a magnet. the two of your tongues moving in perfect tandem. His mouth felt like warm bliss, like home. You broke the kiss this time in an attempt to catch your breath; your heart honestly felt like it could have popped out of your chest. He placed you on the countertop. His hand came up to cup your face, his thumb caressing the side of your cheek.
โPromise me you wonโt regret this,โ you said, looking up at him, voice barely above a hum.
โNever,โ Jud scoffs, placing his forehead against yours. โItโs impossible, trust me, Iโve tried,โ he laughs, causing you to do the same. Your lips find his; this time itโs slow and intimate, almost shy as you take time to savor the feelings of his lips. the lips you thought youโd never get again.
~~~~
Your back was against the cold wall. Jud's mouth attacking yours like that was all he knew. Incoherent mumbles were shared as you began ripping off each other's clothes. You could barely breathe as he rested his head in the crook of your neck like he used to. His kisses were firm but soft, his hand around your waist pulling you closer against him firmly. But it wasnโt enough; he tugged at the bottom of your now unzipped dress hard, causing it to fall to a pile on the ground, leaving you only in your thong.
Jud took a sharp inhale. His eyes slowly roaming over your body, taking in every detail as if analyzing a painting.
โFuck,โ he whispered low like a damned man. His hands were back on you within seconds, cupping your breasts. You leaned forward, catching his bottom lip. His free hand dipped in between the black lace of your panties, running his fingers over your nub before gathering the slick from your folds. You were wet, soaking wet. The feeling alone caused his already hard dick to tighten in his pants.
eyes never leaving yours jud removed his hand bringing to finger to his mouth sucking off your juices. mindlessly like it was second nature, he groaned when your flavor hit his tongue.
โAll I do is think about us,โ he confessed.
โMe too,โ you manage to speak, your voice smaller than you intended.
โConstantlyโฆโ he trails off, moving a piece of hair away from your face.
โLike the things we used to do,โ he hummed.
โReallyโฆโ you smiled, pulling his belt buckle. Jud smiled uncontrollably before it fell slightly.
โItโs been a while for me.โ
โI donโt care,โ you respond, completely unbuckling his belt.
โLike years,โ Jud confessed.
โJesus,โ you blurt out without thinking.
โ-Oh shit, sorry,โ you apologize, covering your mouth in embarrassment.
โDid you want me to stop?โ
โNo,โ Jud said softly, removing your hand from your mouth. โI was just letting you know my stamina might not be exactly how you remember.โ
You smiled slowly, your arms wrapping around his neck.
โI want whatever you give me.โ
He groaned before his lips smashed against yours. His pants fell to a heap on the floor as you two made your way to the bed. Jud hovered over the two of you, and your hand roamed over his chest. He was still fit even after all that time. Shamelessly you searched his torso, your hand stopping right over his side. a small cursive tattoo with your name on it peeking under your fingers.
โYou kept it,โ you gasp slightly.
โDidnโt see the point of removing it,โ he said boyishly. So you leaned up, capturing his lips again. His body did most of the work for him, his free hand coming to help you remove your panties. He waited for the guilt, but it never came. All he could feel at the moment was the overwhelming need for you. He pushed your leg back, exposing your glistening cunt, freshly shaven in anticipation for this moment. Jud's eyes damn near glossed over as he began lowering himself to your pussy.
โLater,โ you said, guiding him back up by his chin. โI need you now.โ
โI want to make you feel good.โ
โYou willโฆ but Iโve been waiting so long for this.โ
He nodded, returning to your lips, hand slinking down between you to line himself up with your entrance. There was a moment of pause where you could see the slight hesitation in his movement. You said nothing; what could you even say? You cupped his face with your hand, and his eyes locked with yours. He rubbed himself through your folds, gathering your juices on his dick before he actually entered you. He felt thicker than you remembered; you felt him pulsating before he finally slid himself in.
You two let out mirroring gasps at the newfound contact. He didnโt move right away, savoring how your walls hugged him. When he did, he let out a quiet whimper as his forehead fell against yours. His pace started off slow; you could tell he really wanted to be gentle, but his body betrayed him. His thrust got harder and faster, your back arching off the bed. The moans that left your mouth were straight pornographic. His grip on your waist grew tighter as he pounded into you like it was his lifeโs purpose.
You could barely think under him, your brain foggy. The only thing replaying in your mind was how you survived so long without him. His groans grew louder, and you swallowed them with kisses like he did your own. He pushed your leg back further for more access to the point you knew youโd be sore in the morning.ย Your leg draped over his shoulder, he was mumbling, but you could barely hear him over the slapping of your skin connecting.
โFuck, I love you,โ he groaned, lifting his head to meet your eyes.
โHow the fuck could I have left?โ he groaned.
โIโm sorry, baby,โ he said between breaths. You tried to respond right away, but couldnโt, your voice getting caught in your throat. that familiar warmth building in your stomach, it was so intense you knew you were going to cum hard.
โAre you going to cum?โ He asked, voice strained, and you couldnโt respond, so you nodded. His pace didnโt falter, and you came with a loud cry as he pounded into you. Your hands clawing at his back in ecstasy.
The night melted into a blur of moans andย orgasms. Every time you thought he was finished for good, you looked over to find he was hard again. Your headboard collided with the wall as you rode him. You were both upright, straddling him, Jud's arm draped around your waist, pulling you down onto him with every thrust.
โJud!โ you moaned, throwing your head back with a scream.
~~~~
The morning came faster than you expected. Your legs tangled together under the sheets. The warmth of the sun peeking through your blinds. You were the little spoon. Judโs toned arm lay across your torso. Even awake you were still beat, and so was Jud, evident from the snoring behind you. Your phone dinged on the nightstand, and before you could reach for it, it started blowing up. Jud stirred behind you.
Kayla: โhellooooooโ
Kayla: โy/nโ
Kayla: โGirl, what the fuck was that last night?โ
you: โhuh?โ
โWhoโs texting us?โ Jud asked, sitting up slightly, voice groggy from sleep.
โWhy? โAre you jealous?โ you joke, turning your back to him.
โYeah,โ he laughed, nuzzling his head into your neck, leaving small kisses down your shoulder blades.
โItโs my neighbor; I think we were too loud,โ you said as you got another notification. Jud gave you a quiet hum in response. Again he waited for that wave of shame or guilt, but there was none. but what did worry him was the lack of. That made him scared.
Kayla: โSounded like there was an exclusive tapping of 50 shades in your apartment.
you: well ๐ฝ
Kayla: Omg, who???
Kayla: You know what? Donโt even tell me! Wine and gossip at mine on Friday?
you: Yes, Iโll bring the food.
Kayla: Perfect, have funโฆ not too much
โAre they mad?โ Jud asked, sitting up fully in the bed.
โNowhere, friends; she was just checking on me.โ
โThatโs good,โ he said while pulling you on top of him so you were lying on his chest.
โNo regrets?โ
โNone,โ he said, leaving a soft kiss on your lips.
โExcept there was something I didnโt get to do that I really wanted to.โ
โAnd what was that?โ you chuckled as his
His hands roamed over your body beneath the covers. You hum a moan at his touch; he moved lower, leaving slow, small kisses down your torso.
โThis,โ Jud groaned, dipping his head down to your pelvis. pushing your thigh back so he had a better view of your pussy.
His fingers met your pussy, dragging through your folds. You throw your head back in pleasure as he pushes one finger in at a time, listening to your moans to guide him to the perfect spot. Once both fingers were in, you were a whiny mess. You hadnโt realized until then how long it had been since you were touched correctly.
โDoes it feel good?โ he asked rhetorically, leaning in so his breath tickled your ear. His voice was still deep and groggy. You couldnโt even respond, lost in the feelings of his fingers.
โTalk to me, baby,โ he groaned, face pressed against the side of yours. You could even hear the wicked smile on him.
โIt feels so good, Judโoh fuck,โ you yelped, grabbing onto him. Jud watched diligently as you came apart on his fingers, taking in every detail of your face. He made his way back down, kissing the inside of your thighs. You jumped in sensitivity, burrowing your head into a nearby pillow.
Jud started slow, soft licks in an effort to not overstimulate you. And when youโd finally gotten used to the warm, calm rhythm, he changed it, lapping over your clit like a starved man. He became rougher, the warm juices trickling down your cunt over his mouth. He hummed into you. The vibrations were running straight to your core; every sound that left your mouth sounded straight pornographic. You forgot how fucking good he was at eating pussy; at the very least, the church didnโt take everything from him.
โOh my G-โ you cut yourself off with a loud moan. your hips grinding into his mouth, you were floating on clouds. It was impossible to focus on anything other than the feeling between your legs. Every thought, every worry gone. His eyes met yours from below, and you almost came on the spot.
โFuck Jud!โ You yelped, attempting to push his head away, but he gripped your thighs tighter. His tongue pressed into your cunt as his thumb rubbed at your clit. You came with a loud gasp. grabbing at his hair for stability. Jud emerged from under your mouth covered in your juices, hair messy, and face still puffy from sleep.
โMissed that,โ he breathed out, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. before catching your lips in a slow kiss. You two fell back asleep curled up in each otherโs embrace.
~~~
Jud woke slowly, already aware you werenโt beside him. He heard soft movement. Careful. Thoughtful. You stood by the dresser, now in only a shirt, holding something in your hand like it was fragile. He knew what it was before he could even see it.
โY/n?โ His voice was rough with sleep.
You turned, and there was something different in your face. Not sadness, Memory.
You walked back to the bed and sat beside him, handing him the folded paper, which was weathered and torn at the corners.
Jud stared at his own handwriting like it belonged to someone else.
โI kept it,โ you said quietly.
โIโve read it so many times I have it memorized.โ
โI wrote this after Lucaโs,โ he said. โAfter we argued, Beforeโ
You nodded.
โYou told me I needed to communicate more about how I felt,โ Jud chuckled.
โI wanted you to stop fighting.โ
โYeah, that too.โ
โYou were scaring me,โ you said gently. โYou were losing yourself in it.โ
Jud let out a slow breath. โI didnโt know how to stop yet.โ
โI know.โ
His fingers finally opened up the paper. You watched his face as he unfolded it.
the note
โI want to change, I do, for her. I want to be someone sheโs proud of, something Iโm proud of. But itโs hard; I canโt stop fighting. Itโs all I know. She knows that. She wonโt ever admit it, but I see the pride in her eyes every time I win a match, and itโs fucking addictive. I donโt know whether itโs fueling me or deterring me. I donโt know any other way to make her happy, but I want to learn. Once I win this fight, Iโll look for a real job and do better. Just one more match and Iโm done; I swear to god I am.โ
โWow,โ Jud sighs, wiping his face.
โI forgot I wrote all this; I was so fucking young. I had no clue what the fuck was to come.โ
โIn a way you fulfilled your promise, just more for yourself.โ
โSometimes I wish I hadnโt,โ Jud admits mindlessly.
โHadnโt what?โ And just like that, a wave of guilt hit you so hard your blood ran cold. The thought of causing Jud to question his faith never crossed your mind; now it was your worst nightmare.
โBecoming a priestโฆโ The words felt icky on his tongue and just as disgusting to hear.
โI thought you loved being a priest?โ you asked worriedly, your voice raising unintentionally.
โI did-I do,โ he corrects. "Oh god," you cursed internally.
โI think Iโm just wondering what life would have been like if I made different decisions. what our life would have been like.โ
You sat there like a deer in headlights, every action over the last week replaying in your mind like a reel. you had let love consume every part of your mind with no regardYou for its effect. What had you done, and how could you reverse it?

Jud entered the old building, the familiar scent of moist sweat and gym mats flooding his nose. The moment he walked through the threshold, he regretted not changing; he tugged at his priest collar in an attempt to loosen it. He made his way down the narrow hallway to the old wooden door of the office. giving it a light knock with the back of his knuckle. He leaned back on the office window ledge, waiting for Kayson, like heโd done so many times before.
Not too long later Kay opens the door to see Jud; a slow smile creeps onto his face as he takes him in. He was older now, visibly, but he didnโt lose the youth in his tone.
โLong time no see, brother,โ he says, dapping him up before embracing him in a hug, patting him on the back.
โYeah, youโve got grays in your beard.โ
Kayson chuckles, accentuating his smile lines, rubbing his goatee hairs in between his fingers, โJust a little salt and pepper; ladies like it.โ
โHow have you been, Big Jug?โ Kay says with a warm smile.
โPretty goodโฆpretty good, I canโt complain,โ Jud says, shaking his head slowly.
โHeard youโre a priest now??โ Kay said, slapping Jud on his back.
โYeah.โ
โCrazyโฆtheyโre just letting anyone wear this shit,โ Kay says, pulling at his suit jacket.
Jud laughs. โIโve done a lot of growing up, okay?โ Jud says playfully, smacking off his hand. He had no idea.
โShitttt, I have to see it to believe it,โ he said while walking down the hall. Jud followed closely behind.
โWhatchu here for, tryna recruit us for the church?โ
โNo no no, I was wondering if you kept the stuff that was in my locker.โ
โYou came all the way down here for that?โ
โYeah,โ Jud says, sounding unsure. โI thought Iโd finally close that chapter.โ
โSo you didnโt come to see my sister?โ
โWhat?โ Jud said, sounding flustered. โWhy would you say that?โ he asks hurriedly.
โIโm fucking with you; I can see you havenโt changed in that aspect,โ Kay says, punching Jud on the shoulder before turning the corner. โActually, there she is right there,โ he said, gesturing you over.
โHave yโall spoken sinceโฆโ Kay whispered the last part.
โNo, Iโm pretty sure she changed her number.โ
โDamn...whoops.โ
You were by the punching bags wiping off your sweat. When Kay gestured you over, you couldnโt really see without your glasses, but you jogged over.
โLook who wandered in here,โ your brother said, pointing at Jud as you got closer.
When your eyes locked on his, everything instantly slowed, a mixture of emotions hit you like a truck, and you suddenly had the urge to run, but you fought it.ย A part of you thought youโd never see him again. But there he was, all man-like, dressed like a vicar. familiar tattoo peeking from the side of his neck, sleeves rolled. You still saw him under all the clothes.
There you were, in front of him. in your pretty light blue workout clothes. hair straightened in a messy ponytail. Skin glistening with sweat, beautiful as always. All he hoped in that moment was that youโd greet him with your familiar sweet smile and, even for a second, youโd let him believe all was forgiven.
โJud,โ you said, fighting the shock on your face. A part of you wanted to smile but fought it. He noticed, his eyes not leaving yours. The air between the two of you is thickening by the second.
โY/nโฆyou look great,โ he said mindlessly.
โThank you, Father Jud,โ you tease, tapping away the sweat on you with a rag.
โso everyone knowsโ
โPretty much, and if they didnโt, they know now,โ you chuckle, alluding to his attire.
ย ย
โI thought you didnโt box,โ he said, like it was plaguing him, gesturing to the boxing gloves tucked under your arm.
โI do now,โ you responded shortly, but the attitude felt unnatural.ย
โKay finally got me into it,โ you said, looking up into his eyes. In that same moment Jud was trying to mentally comprehend how you, of all people, could be boxing.
โIโm going to go check if your stuff is in the basement. If it is, Iโll leave it in the office, Jud; you can get it when youโre ready. You know the code,โ Kay said, patting him on the back.
โIf he remembers...โ you trailed off, looking down at your shoes.
โI remember,โ he stated, causing you to meet his gaze again. his statment became more intimate than he attented. You guys stood there for a moment in the silence, in the heaviness.
โAlrightโฆโ your brother chuckled awkwardly. โWhen youโre finished, can you fold up the mats in the back upstairs?โ
You nod, and your brother yells.
โYou two keep it cute,โ before disappearing into the office.
You two stood awkwardly before Jud spoke.
โI could help you with the mats,โ he proposed, breaking the silence.
~~~~
โYou came back for the stuff in your locker, huh?โ you said, walking up the steps, Jud following close behind.
โYeah, how did you know?โ
โYou had a lot of shit in there; I had to clean it out after you left.โ
โDid you go through it?โ Jud asked, trying to sound as unfazed as possible.
โNo,โ you lied. โI just packed it up.โ
Jud hummed as if debating if he believed you or not. You two made it up the stairs, and you walked towards the back of the room, starting to fold one of the large mats.ย Before you could even blink, Jud was on the other end helping you. It was so odd seeing him back there, in his priest clothes, doing something that used to be so ordinary.
You bent down to lift another, and Jud practically raced to come trying to help.
โI got it,โ you stated plainly; you werenโt trying to be vindictive. But there was a part of you deep down that enjoyed the disappointment on his face. You moved the heavy equipment with ease; your now-toned arms moved in smooth, fluid motions as you threw the folded mats into a pile in the corner.ย A part of him was in awe of you. Another part wondered if you became this in spite of him. There was a bit of awkward silence as you two worked before you finally broke it.
โI still canโt believe youโre a priest,โ you say, shaking your head. kicking a mat into place.
โSometimes I canโt believe it myself,โ he basically mumbles. throwing one over into the pile.
โI canโt believe youโre boxing?โ he said, sounding astonished. folding up another as he spoke.
โYeah, I started a year after you left.โ There is a silence as he thinks over his next words carefully. but they still come out wrong.
โIโd think afterโฆyou knowโฆโ he trailed off; it took you a second to process what he meant to say.
โAfter you killed someone?โ you corrected. He had years to prepare, but the words still felt like a dagger to his heart coming from your lips. but he just took a deep breath and continued on like heโd been taught.
โYes, after I killed someone, I assumed youโd be even more repelled, all the violenceโฆโ he trailed off.
โOh, I was,โ you say, taking a beat and deciding whether to continue.
โI was disgusted, hurt, and betrayed, but Kay taught me how to release it all into boxing. I put all of me into it. my time, blood, sweat, and tears. Boxing and art became my outlet, my place for confession, my church.โ You had never said it out loud until then, but everything you said felt true.
He just watched you as you spoke; he listened to you, of course, but it had been so long since he just got to look at you. He almost forgot it had been his favorite pastime to watch your expressions change.
โIโm sorry I couldnโt be there for you.โ
โIt wouldnโt have changed anything; I hated you back then,โ you spoke quickly before thinking. You instantly regretted it when you saw the look on Judโs face. You didnโt intend to punish him more.
โIโm sorryโโ
โNo, I figured,โ he said, looking down at his feet, shaking his head lightly.
โIโm just glad youโre tolerating me enough for this conversation,โ Jud said truthfully with a dry chuckle, causing you to smile.
โUnfortunately, for me, my soft spot for you has always been to my disadvantage,โ you admitted.
โIs that how you always felt?โ
You canโt muster the words, giving a sympathetic nod. And from the sharp inhale he took, you can tell that one stung. Thereโs another moment when the two of you donโt speak as he gazes at you with a look you couldnโt identify. When you finally broke eye contact, you realized you two had cleaned up all the mats.
โGo out to lunch with me,โ he stated abruptly, not like a demand but not like a requestย either.
โJud, I donโt knowโโ
โSay yes,โ he replied in the same tone. the danger a simple request held. He knew better, and you knew better, but there wasnโt enough common sense in the world.
~~~~~
And just like that, you two were sitting across from each other in your old booth. with your orange sodas in those white and red Coke cups, waiting for your sandwiches. It was as if no time had passed at all. For a moment you two were kids again. Jud couldnโt help but wonder which good deed he had done to grant this prayer.
โYou straightened your hair,โ he
said finally, his eyes had been drifting back to your hair since the moment he saw you.
โYeah, I have been doing it for a while,โ you say, playing with the ends. You suddenly felt unsure under his gaze.
โit looks good,โ he reassured.โIt โJust different,โ he said, staring at you like he was taking in every detail of you, memorizing it for later. Just looking at you felt like a sin in itself. But if only for today, heโll indulge himself.
โWhat did you want from your locker?โ you asked under the pressure of curiosity.
โSome things I shouldโve never left,โ he says, taking a sip of his soda.
โLike what?โ you ask, raising your eyebrow. You could tell by his body language Jud didnโt want to answer. Just then the waiter came with your food. placing your sandwiches down in front of you. Saved by the bell. You gave him a polite smile as he walked away, and Jud took the opportunity to dig in.
โYouโre actually obligated to tell me,โ you joked. But internally you knew heโd come looking for it one day. something that definitely wasnโt in that box anymore.
โI will,โ he said after he finished chewing his food. โOne day,โ he smiles mischievously with a nod before going in for another bite. That simple facial expression takes you all the way back, and you feel that pang in your chest you had been trying to avoid since the moment he got there. like an old lightbulb flickering in a dark room.
โYouโre full of shit, Jud,โ you curse, which caused Jud to laugh harder than you expected. You tried to keep your slime off your face, but you couldnโt. Not while one was on his; he was still there really. Under all the newfound calm and that conservative voice, he was still Big Jud.
Being around you again unlocked a side Jud almost forgot he existed, a part of himself he locked away with all other sin. He found it so easy to slide back into with you. dangerously so.
After a couple of bites in comfortable silence, you finally asked the question that had been plaguing your mind since you heard Jud had become a priest.
โDo you still box?โ You ask nervously, playing with your straw, dunking and lifting itย out of the cup slightly.
โGod no,โ he responds so simply. You nod your head in annoyance.
โIf I knew a Bible wouldโve made you stop boxing, Iโd have taken you to church myself.โ A sudden wave of emotion washed over you, and you played it off with a chuckle. staring into the orange pool inside your cup.
โIt wasnโtโโ he cut himself off, noticing your body language. โY/n, can you look at me?โ he asked. The softness in his tone caused you to meet his eyes.
โIt wasnโt the church; I stopped boxing before I decided to become a priest. I had to decide that for myself.โ
You digested his words before speaking again.
โDo you like it?โ You ask, genuinely curious.
โBeing a priest?โ
He takes a beat, and he responds with an earnest, almost shy smile, an expression you donโt think youโd ever seen before on him.
โI love it,โ he confessed.
You smiled, even though you didnโt want to, reflexively. It was only after his shy smile that you really understood that this wasnโt some act for him. It wasnโt a plea for redemption or a phase. This was his livelihood, his new passion, and similarly to when you were sixteen years old, you wanted to understand him; you needed to.
โCould I come to your church?โ
Jud looked stunned at the request. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
โMy church is currently under interesting management.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
โThe head priest is a little unorthodox. Heโs very aggressive towards first-time attendees; I donโt want to subject you to that.โ
You hum in response; it was a simple reply. but it felt like a dagger. a rejection. The silence that followed consumed the room. You felt uneasy, like you shouldโve never played what you knew was a losing game, until he spoke again.
โThereโs a priest junket I go to every couple of months; I speak there Tuesday. You should come.โ
โTuesdayโฆhow long are you in town for?โ you asked, scrunching your eyebrow in confusion. He stared at you like he was lost in thought for a second. โIโm not sure yet.โ
You smile at him again unintentionally.
โWell, in that case, Iโm having an art show on Wednesday. Youโre invited, if youโre free, of course.โ
โAn art show?โ Jud saw the surprise visible on his face. โThatโs amazing.โ
โThank you,โ you nod with a proud smile.
โIโve been selling my pieces for a while, doing pop-ups and things like that. This woman owns an art gallery downtown with her kids. She liked them so much she offered me a space to let me showcase my art at her gallery.โ
โIโll be there.โ
โYou donโt haveโโ
โIโll be there,โ he cuts you off with a reassuring smile.
~~~~
On the day of Judโs priest junket, he was more nervous than he wanted to admit. Things like public speaking didnโt usually sway him, but with you in the crowd. That was an entirely different story. He felt you before he saw you, in some instinctive way that just never leaves the body. like the ring, like violence, like his love for you as much as he fought it. It didnโt help that you two had started back texting, which he knew was a dangerous game. But with you he always played. In that moment he felt like a 16-year-old boy again. An eager teenager in the ring who wanted nothing more than to impress you.
His fingers tightened against the podium as he began to speak, voice steady, calm, and practiced. He felt the weight of eyes on him, especially God's. You sat three rows back comfortably, like you belonged, which somehow made it all worse. the way you leaned forward every once in a while, one leg over the other.
You didnโt expect him to sound the way he did. Not commanding or stern, more like honest, relatable, and sincere. For a short time he preached about finding peace within yourself, peace in your regrets, and your mistakes. It resonates with you, and from the look on the other listeners, it seemed to resonate with them too. But there was a moment where it seemed like he spoke only for the two of you. about leaving behind violence and lies and becoming a better person not just for yourself but for the people who believe in you.
But you couldnโt help but wonder what that meant for you. when the better person he became comes with so many new rules and regulations. Two other priests were asked to speak after him; even with favoritism aside, none were half as good as Jud.
Near the end you somehow ended up in conversation with a mother and her kids. Just there to kill time while her husband worked. She was one of the loopholes where she and her husband had been married before he became a priest. They were surprisingly sweet, and the kids gravitated to you.ย You awed at their tiny crosses draped over their necks, and before you knew it, the three kids were sharing a granola bar from your purse. You never cared too much for religion, but you didnโt judge; you just wished all religious people had that same mindset.
You talk to the young mom about places you wanted to vacation. You couldnโt imagine having kids in your early twenties, but right there was your new friend Skye, who wasnโt just content with her life; she was happy.
Jud watched you from afar before approaching. You were in your version of Sunday's best: a nicely fitted dress and modest heels. You had a little one bouncing on your leg, a baby tugging at your finger.ย A smile on your face as you conversed with other ladies. For a moment he forgot and let his mind wander back to that familiar future. that he always imagined for the two of you, the future he planned before he became a priest. Guilt flashed through him, and he attempted to swallow the thought entirely.
ย ย
You felt a presence behind you and turned to see Jud, who was watching with a big grin on his face.
โWhat are you smiling for?โ
โI see youโre still the baby whisperer.โ
โOf course,โ you smile, peeking down at the little boyโs face, causing him to giggle.
โI enjoyed your sermon,โ you say, meeting his eyes โgenuinely.โ He looks almost shy, accepting your compliment with the quiet.
โGlad to hear it.โ
Skye looks between you two, a smile spreading across her face. โFather Jud, you didnโt tell us you had a wife.โ
โSheโs not my wife.โ Jud rushed out fast like heโd been caught. And even though it was true, the simple sentence brought you back down from the high you had been on.
โOh,โ Skye says, covering her mouth in embarrassment. โIโm sorry, I thoughtโฆโ
โItโs ok,โ you say with a comforting smile.
โItโs fine,โ Jud echoed, but he could tell from the calmness in your expression that he fucked up.
โY/N, can I speak to you for a second?โ You nod, keeping your composure.
โIt was nice meeting you, Skye,โ you said, carefully removing her son from your lap. โYou too, Jacob,โ you said, ruffling his hair with a smile after placing him on his feet. You wave the other kids goodbye, and Skye mouths a remorseful โsorryโ as you begin leaving with Jud.
He walked you into some old empty room with a dusty piano in the corner, the old keys yellowing. He is closing the door behind you.
โI think I should go,โ you said finally.
โY/n, please.โ He didnโt know exactly what he was pleading for; all he knew was he didnโt want you to leave.
โHonestly Judโฆ are you even allowed to date?โ
Silence filled the room, and that was all the response you needed.
โIt was a mistake to come here. I knew it was, butโฆI donโt know what I thought.โ You trailed off, shaking your head like the thought was ridiculous.
โI donโt know either,โ Jud admits, his eyes raking over you before he lets out a pained exhale.
โIโm not trying to ruin what youโve built here, Jud. I donโt want to do that.โ
โYou wonโt.โ
โYou donโt even believe that.โ
โIโm glad you cameโฆyou look beautiful, by the way,โ he says in an effort to change the subject.
โI canโt judge,โ you say, turning on your heel, walking towards the door. Jud takes hold of your wrist, not aggressively, firm enough to pull you into him.
โPlease,โ he whispers his plea against your face. Your body pressing against his, your now heavy breaths intermingling to make a smell only unique to the two of you. That familiar electricity ran through you as you stared him in those brown eyes. This was the feeling you had been chasing since the moment he stepped out the gym door.
Jud could feel it, his restraint slipping in the warm comfortability of you. His body was remembering what his brain was constantly trying to forget. The way you looked at him, how could it be a sin to indulge in something so natural, something so true to him?
โI just got you back.โ He said in a voice barely above a whisper. The internal battle he was fighting was harder than anything heโs done before. Every word out of his mouth caused a flutter in your heart, a feeling you were desperately trying to ignore.
โIโve missed youโฆso fucking much,โ he confesses almost desperately, his eyes raking over you.
His confession damn near knocked the wind out of your lungs, and you felt tears well in your eyes.
โThen prove it,โ you said, staring up at him. Thereโs a beat as he sighs, rubbing at his chin. He could barely move; the weight of his religion was planting him to the floor.
โExactly,โ you scoff, breaking from his grasp, but itโs more out of disappointment than anger.
โIโm just not a part of your world anymore, and thatโs ok,โ you say, quickly wiping away a tear before it falls. You hated feeling weak around him.
โy/nโ
โIt was nice seeing you again, Jud,โ you say, turning your back to him in an effort to hide your tears. He didnโt chase after you, knowing what would happen if he did. the cruelest proof of discipline he had left. He hated the fact you felt alone in this. like he didnโt crave you the way you did him. The rhythm of your heels clicking echoed through Jedโs head hours after you left.
God help him; he could still smell you. Every craving, every want he had intensified that night. The thoughts of you tangled in the sheets plagued him more than usual. the memory of your voice moaning his name. how your chuckle vibrated his whole chest when you snuggled. your crazy hair in the morning. He gave it all away.
โStop,โ he whispered to no one, hunched over on the edge of his bed. He had chosen this life; he earned it.
And yet heโd throw it all away for you. Worse, he wanted to. โIโm doing the right thing,โ he muttered.
The words sounded hollow.
Because the truth, the ugly, unholy truth, was that wanting you had never left him. He had only buried it beneath scripture and silence and routine. And now you were here, breathing life back into a hunger he had pretended was dead. You were his only weakness.
By morning, his resolve was frayed thin. He told himself heโd only drop off the flowers to show support. He had a bouquet of your favorite flowers delivered, pre ordered the same night you two had lunch. The bouquet felt ridiculous in his arms too large, too bright. Yet somehow it still didnโt feel like enough. wrapped in crisp paper that crackled softly every time his fingers tightened.
He had rehearsed the next part carefully, leaving the flowers with the attendant. Note pushed snug between the stems.
Be proud; you deserve every good thing coming.
Iโm sorry I wasnโt there.
You were always stronger than you knew.
The space moved, with people coming and going from each painting. But it wasnโt loud; there was that certain hush people only do around things meaningful. Your art filled the walls photo-like, with blurry subjects. color blended together into unmistakableย memories. the wall of lockers in the locker room, the gym entrance. a bedroom, he had to squint. Like looking through a foggy window, he could see it. He moved from one to the next, chest tightening as he realized how much of you was in every canvas.
He stood in front of one piece longer than the rest. A bedroom, unfamiliar to him, with a silhouette of bodies. From the color, he concluded you and a man. A tattoo-covered arm hanging off the bed, not his own. He felt a pain of jealousy but swallowed it; he hadnโt even let himself think of you with another man. A couple behind him gawked at the work. Pride swelled in him, warm and excruciating, as if it were the perfect closure.
And then he heard you laugh; he recognized it instantly. You stood to the side of one of your paintings. talking to an older woman, hands moving proudly as you explain the work in front of you. You looked amazing, with your curls down framing your face and glasses he almost forgot you wore. long black blazer that hugs over a beautiful dress, hugging your curves in all the right places. You had truly grown since heโs been gone, blossoming into your own entirely.
Jud's legs carried him to the front desk before his mind could argue back.
โIโd like to leave this here for the artist,โ Jud says, placing the large bouquet on the marble desk.ย before he could continue.
โJud?โ
Your voice stopped him cold.
He turned.
You were standing a few feet away now, eyes wide, surprise written plainly across your face. Your gaze dropped to the flowers, then back to him.
โOh,โ you said softly. โYou came.โ
โWere you trying to leave?โ
โYeah,โ he admitted quietly.
You donโt respond right away, letting out a tired-sounding sigh. walking towards the desk.
โYeah,โ he admitted quietly.
You donโt respond right away, letting out a tired-sounding sigh. walking towards the desk.
โThese are beautiful, like, really,โ you say, lifting the bouquet slightly. Jersey lilyโs white and pink, filled with leaves and babyโs breath.
โDid you look around? โ you said quietly, alluding to the paintings behind you.
โYeah,โ responded a hushed voice, suddenly hoarse.
โYou really came all this way just to leave?โ you breathe out as if you were fighting yourself to speak.
โNot anymore.โ
โWhat changed in the last five seconds?โ you asked, raising your brow obliviously.
โI saw you,โ he spoke shamelessly; if he was being honest, he knew the moment he entered he wasnโt leaving without seeing you.
โOh,โ you responded, suddenly feeling unnecessarily shy. There was a beat.
โDid you see the college?โ you asked with a smile.
โNo,โ he said, his smile mirroring your own.
~~~~
The event died down, and you felt on top of the world, to say the least. The buzz of the event was still running through you as you stood outside the gallery. The streetlights provided you with a spotlight as you spoke to Jud.
โI think it went well,โ you say with a wide smile, rocking on your toes lightly.
โIt was great,โ Jud said with a smile.
โI still canโt believe it.โ
โThat was amazing,โ Mason said loudly, walking outside the gallery onto the sidewalk. โYou are amazing,โ he scoffs with a mixture of a laugh.
โThank you, Mason,โ you said with a humble smile.
โTruly, what canโt you do? You sold more than half of your paintings.โ
โWhat?โ you said, sounding astonished, covering your mouth in surprise.
โMore than halfโฆโ you whispered quietly to yourself.
โI think that calls for a celebration?โ
โYes, of course,โ you laugh. Jud said nothing, silently admiring you.
Andre and Chloe walked out of the gallery last. Andrew was barely able to hold up your bouquet of flowers as he attempted to lock the gallery door. The loud jingling of the keys echoed as he tugged at the handle for security before tossing them to Mason.
โYou almost forgot these.โ
โOh, thank you!โ you smiled as Andre handed them over.
โWho got those?โ Chloe asked, taking in the large flowers.
โHim,โ you said, pointing to Jud with a shameless smile.
โTheyโre breathtaking, really,โ Chloe complimented, and Jud thanked her with a humble smile.
โDrinks on me at Capriโs!โ Mason yelled, and you looked over at Jud.
โTonight was great. Iโll understand if you donโt want to come, but if you doโโ
โI can come.โ
โAre you sure, Jud?โ
โyesโ
โpositive?โ
โpositiveโ
You tried not to squeal, but couldnโt.
How could he turn you down? Itโd been so long since heโd seen you so happy, or at least thatโs what he told himself.
โIโm beat,โ Andrew announced with a sigh. โRain check, but you guys have fun!โ
โAlright, see you.โ
โGood night,โ you waved as Andrew and Chloe left.
โOk, weโll catch up with you guys at the bar,โ you said as everyone scrambled to their cars. Jud rescued the bouquet for your sweaty hands.
โThank you.โ
โWho are they?โ
โMason and Chloe are the children of the owner. Theyโve been helping a lot to get my work out there. Weโve gotten pretty close over the last couple weeks. It probably doesnโt seem like it, but they take their jobs really seriously.โ
โThey seem nice; I can tell the brother likes you.โ
โWho? Mason? no no no.โ
โIโm telling you.โ
โThatโs just his personalityโฆ I think, is that why you said yes, so you could watch over me?โ You tease.
โOne of themโฆyeah.โ
The walk over was quiet yet comfortable, the fresh chilled air and streetlights offering you the perfect opportunity to think. Jud didnโt talk much but offered up a small smile when your eyes met his.
~~~
The bar was safe, far from the church and the gym. You could be free of the past and enjoy the night. Jud fell back into his old role, his dry, awkward humor and nonchalant attitude attracting people to him like moths to a flame. He said he wasnโt going to drink much, and you didnโt push him. You also didnโt stop him when he downed his third shot.
โWhere the hell have you been hiding him?โ
Chloe chuckled, sipping the last of her margarita.
โHeโs been hiding himself from me,โ you stated, giving Jud a knowing look.
โI wouldnโt say hiding,โ he chuckled, pulling up his sleeve, exposing his tattoo, and causing you to bite the inside of your lip.
โI was finding myself, getting a grip on life.โ
Chloe's eyebrow frays for a moment, the gears turning in her head.
โIs this the guy?โ she asked, looking past him to meet your eye. โYouโre the guy?โ she asked, this time speaking directly to him.
โThe guy?โ Jud asked, visibly confused, and you gave Chloe a sharp look before you responded.
โIโve talked about you beforeโฆin passing,โ you said, more shy than you intended.
โWait, am I missing something?โ Masonย asked, his speech slurred ever so slightly, poking his head from behind Chloe.
โNo, youโre not,โ you laugh, trying to redirect the conversation.
โOh my god, we have to get going,โ Chloe stated, her eyes widening as she looked at her phone.
โWhat?โ you whine.
โYeah, I and Mason have to open up early,โ she sighed, giving you a discreet wink.
โWeโre leaving?โ Mason put his mouth on his drink.
โYes, Iโll call you tomorrow; it was nice meeting you.โ Chloe smiled as she threw her purse over her shoulder.
Mason shared a goodbye before the two scurried out of the bar. The bar no longer felt like a safe space. It was late now; most of the people were gone. Jud is sitting across from you, looking at you like he has since he came back.
โI hope I didnโt peer pressure you into drinking.โ
โNo, I wanted to.โ Jud smiled.
โIf Iโm being honest, itโs nice to see you a bit more relaxed and fun. I feel like youโre always holding your breath around me now,โ you say, taking a sip of your drink.
โI am,โ Jud chuckles.
โWhy?โ
โYou know why,โ he responded plainly, taking a sip of his drink. The way he looked at you over the cup caused your breath to catch in your throat. Just then, like out of a movie, the speaker above started playing "I Put a Spell on You," the Nina Simone version. your favorite version.
โYou want to see fun, relaxed even?โ he asked, raising an eyebrow.
โOf course.โ
And just like that, Jud was off his stool, taking your hand and guiding you off yours to the clear floor at the back of the bar. He placed your hand on his shoulder and his on your waist. His eyes never leaving yours.
Wally Clark x blk female reader
Word count: 6k.
Warnings: cursing, mentioned of death, smut, unprotected sex, a little bit of cock warming, slightly rough. And probably some other stuff
Summary: The ghost of Wally Clark has been stalking Y/N since she step foot inside of Split River High, his obsession only growing as the years went on. During her last year of high school Y/N finally gets to meet her secret admirerโฆ
Author note: I found this in my draft from early season one and haddd to finish it because it's so good, this is also like very season one Wally which isnโt that different but itโs differentt!. This wasn't supposed to be so long but now you understand why it took 8 years enjoy pookies.๐
Wally watched kids come in and go from that school year after year and had no interest. Until you, you had a presence that demanded attention, and he had no issue giving it to you. Your pretty face, smooth skin, and sweet laugh were enough to keep him intrigued for a lifetime. He knew you couldnโt see him, but he didnโt care, heโd follow you from the minute you walked on campus to the moment you went home. Heโd read your friends' texts over their shoulder to see if you were still coming and if you were even a minute late.
Sometimes, when youโd fall asleep in the study hall, heโd sit next to you and play games on your phone and pretend you knew he existed. (He knew your password, of course). Sometimes heโd go through your messages and notes to get a better understanding of you. At first, he felt guilty, but then it became the highlight of his day. Seeing pictures of what you did outside of school and who you hung out with. What boys were you talking to too? He knew it was silly, but he got jealous every time he opened your phone to see you were texting your ex again.
โCโmon girl, what happened blocking his ass?โ Wally mumbles, putting his feet up on the table in front of him. You mumble something like you can hear him and Wally sits quietly for a second, enjoying the fantasy.
It was a Friday and your best friend convinced you to keep her company at the football game as she cheered for her boyfriend. You usually didnโt come to games, but you werenโt opposed to it. You sat on the cold bleachers trying to concentrate on the game even though the cold ass air blowing in your face was making it almost impossible. Kat was getting you two hotdogs. So Wally decided to keep you company, (even though you couldnโt see him). During the game, your eyes drifted to a Wally Clark memorial on the scoreboard.
โWhoโs Wally Clark?โ You ask the empty seat next to you, forgetting Kat was away getting the hotdogs. When the words left your mouth, Wally felt like his heart dropped in his stomach. He didnโt know how to react. When you remember Kat left, you pull out your phone to Google. Wally looked over your shoulder into your phone intently as you searched for โWally Clark Split River High Schoolโ in the Google search bar.
Wally couldnโt help but celebrate at just the idea of you knowing he even existed. He watched as he read an article with his least favorite picture in the upper right corner. โAwwโฆhe was such a cutie,โ you say, letting out a small sigh. โYou think?โ Wally asked with a big smile on his face, forgetting for a second you couldnโt hear or see him.
โThat line was long as hellโ, Kat says, waddling through the bleachers with two hotdogs in hand. โI told you to wait until half-time,โ you say, taking a hotdog from her. โThen it would have been WORSE if that was even possible,โ Kat says getting herself situated. โProbably,โ you say slightly muffled taking a bite of your hotdog. Wally watches everything in awe, just happy heโs been acknowledged, and called cute. You finish chewing and wiping your face with a napkin Kat brought. โYou ever heard of Wally Clark?โ You ask, stuffing the napkin in your pocket. โThe guy's name on the banner thingy?โ Kat asks seconds away from stuffing her hotdog in her mouth. โYeah, I just looked it up, he was a footballer player here in the 80s, he got tackled on the 5-yard line and broke his neck, died on the scene, โ
โ Technically I didnโt-โ Wally tries to cut in.
โ-Damn,โ Kat says, still muffled by the hotdog in her mouth. โI know, right? "He was a cutie tooโ, you say, showing Kat the picture of your phone. โDAMNโ, Kat says, mouth still full. โRight?โ You say, nodding with a smile of agreement. Wally sat behind you smiling ears to any of the other ghosts heโd look insane. โRest in peace beautifulโ, Kat says, finally swallowing her food, looking up at the sky, shaking her head from side to side. You laugh and do the same. โOoo you should do one of your rituals and try and connect with him like you did with Lee,โ Kat says, taking a sip of her drink.
โHard pass,โ you say, trying to return your focus on the game in front of you.
โWhy not?โ Wally and Kat say at the same time. โIt worked, didnโt it? "You can have a hot ghost friend?โ Kate says before taking another bite. โ Yes, but I donโt do that shit anymore, I get nightmares,โ you say taking another bite of your food. โWelp, whoโs winning ?โ Kat says sitting back slightly returning her attention to the field. โI have no idea,โ you say making the both of you laugh.
On Monday you stayed after school a little later to study. You only did three assignments before passing out like you usually did. Wally had been a bit busier so he didnโt have time to watch you as intently. As he usually did, but when he found you in the library, he pulled out the chair next to you and started doodling on the edge of your paper. Once he was bored with that, he picked up your phone and started his daily scroll. He scrolled through TikTok for a minute, then Instagram, and found nothing fascinating. Then he went to your camera roll and his heart dropped. There were pictures after pictures of him. You went on a deep dive after the game. Something about Wally felt familiar, you just wanted to know everything. You found out his mom was your neighbor and that you two even shared a birthday. You wonder if you were born at the same time as you were friends or if was he the dick jock type.
โSomeoneโs got a crushโ, Wally says smugly, scrolling through the screenshot of him on your phone. You quickly jump out of your sleep like youโve heard a loud noise. You jump back once your eyes land on Wally. โCan you see me?โ Wally asks, unable to hide his excitement at the possibility. โExcuse me? "Is there any reason in particular youโre so fucking close to me WHILE I'm SLEEPING?โ Wally tries to answer but just starts stuttering. He looks familiar to you, but you donโt know where you're from. โAND WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE MY PHONE,โ you say, attempting to grab the phone outside his hand. Your hand goes straight through his palm like heโs not even there, and you try the same thing again. And suddenly it hits you, โthe football player?โ You say not even sure of yourself.
Wally gives a small nod the fear from your interaction seconds ago still on his face. โOh, this is a dreamโ you smugly laying back on your seat. โNo, I donโt think-โ Wally starts, but is cut off by you. โNo, I have these sometimes when I get obsessed with something,โ you say laying your head back on the table. โYouโre obsessed with me?โ Wally asked the big smile from earlier right back. โObsessed is a big word,โ you say putting your head downโ A word that YOU used,โ Wally says with a smirk.
โDoesnโt matter because this is a dreamโ you say, closing your eyes.
โItโs notโ
โIt isโ
โItโs not!โ
โIt is!โ
โ it. Is. notโ
โYes.it.is.โ
โAre you OK sweetheart?โ the librarian says, placing her hand on your shoulder. Suddenly, you become very aware of the fact that you have been yelling. โYeah, sorry I was just trying to tell-โ
โ-Good, good because I overheard you talking to yourself. "I was worried youโd lose itโ, she says with a small chuckle.
โOh uhโฆ I talk in my sleep sometimes, itโs terrible, eyes open and everything. "Thanks for checking up on me though,โ you say with a tight-lipped smile, before beginning to quickly pack up your stuff, internally panicking. โNice saveโ, Wally says when she finally leaves. You ignore him speedily, walking out of the library.ย
โHello? Y/n, can you still see meโ You continue to ignore him walking to a hidden corner of the school. โHEY, HEY, HEY I know we got off on the wrong foot but donโt ignore me thatโs brutalโ. You quickly pull your phone out of your pocket holding it to your ear. โHello?โ You say almost embarrassed. โYou know the phones off right?โ Wally asks scrunching his face in confusion. โYes dumass, Iโm trying to not look completely insane,โ you say trying to keep your voice down.
โOh,โ Wally says sounding a little defeated. โSorry, Iโm not trying to be a Dick, Iโm just not trying to go back to a mental hospital,โ
โYouโve been to the nut house before?โ Wally asks lifting an eyebrow. โYes, and nobody calls it that anymore,โ you say walking down the hallway phone still to your ear. โOh, my bad,โ Wally says trying to keep up with you. โitโs ok you didnโt know,โ you say checking the time on your phone. โShit I gotta go,โ you say walking a bit faster, โwait wait wait,โ Wally says standing in front of you in an attempt to keep you from leaving. โIโve been watching you since sophomore year, And I know how weird and crazy that sounds but you donโt know me I think I know you pretty well, And I donโt know if you know this but, โThisโ he gestures between the two of you.
โisnโt normal, This isnโt like an everyday occurrence, I havenโt spoken to a Living person since the 80s. So Iโd like to talk to you before you run back homeโ Wally says speaking a mile a minute.
โWally- Wally right?โ You say slightly unsure. He nods โWell Wally, Iโd love to, I really would but this just seems like itโs gonna end up with me on more medication than Iโm already on or a 48-hour involuntary hold wearing grippy socks. I donโt know if you know this but TALKING to ghosts is also something that doesnโt happen every day, and quite frankly I donโt know if youโre real or some hallucination, and Iโd rather not find out.โ You say walking away from him.
โWait- let me prove it to you,โ Wally says catching up to you.
โHow will you do that?โ
โJust follow meโ
Wally runs ahead down the empty hallway and you follow him until you two stop in front of your now-empty history class. โOpen it,โ Wally says gesturing for you to turn the knob. You do and surprisingly it opens, youโre greeted by a dark empty classroom. โWhy am I here again?โ You ask Reaching for the light switch. โNo, Donโt turn it on,โ Wally says with his hand slightly outstretched. โThe janitors walk past this room a lot and theyโll come and check if the lights are on, use your phone flashlight,โ Wally says jumping up to sit on the teacherโs desk. โokโฆโ you respond with a nod and drop your hand from the light switch.
โHow does this prove you're real again?โ You ask turning on your phone flash. โBecause Iโll tell you exactly whatโs in Mr. Kankerys desk,โ he gives it two hits to bring attention to the desk under him. โthen youโll check and if Iโm right, which I will be, because Iโm real, Dead, but realโ Wally says with a chuckle,
โok, whatโs in the desk?โ You ask walking a little closer to Wally. โ wait, Stay over thereโ Wally says jumping off the desk and opening the drawer. โOk soโฆthereโs a stapler on the left next to some color-full sticky notes and a blue calculator.
There are also a couple of old lady candies scattered around. โOk, youโre turn,โ Wally says moving from behind the desk. You walk behind the desk and open the drawer to see exactly everything Wally described. โshitโฆitโs all hereโ you mumble under your breath. โIs that a bad thing?โ Wally asked confused by your reaction. โI donโt knowโฆwhat if I saw what was in his desk while asking for help or something and just imagine you looking at Iโm just talking to myself right now.โ You say your words coming out a mile a minute. โWe both know you havenโt walked up to Mr. Kankerys in at least 4 months,โ Wally says stealing candy from his desk.
โYeahโฆ..Wait how do you know?โ You ask scrunching your eyebrow in confusion before quickly remembering. โOh yeahโฆthat whole stalking me since Sophomore year thing,โ you say walking from behind the desk. โUhhhh I wouldnโt call it stalking, more like admiring from a distanceโฆor sometimes not so distant,โ Wally says walking slightly closer. โOh!โ You say surprised. โSo Youโve been watching me sleep and stuff?โ You ask slightly worried. โNo, no, no,โ Wally rushes out. โNothing like that, I canโt even leave hereโ
โLike at all?โ You ask walking out of the dark classroom. โLike at all,โ Wally says following behind you. โSo what happens when you try to leave?โ You ask walking down the hallway to your locker. โI just poof back on the field where I died,โ Wally says still walking behind you. โDamnโฆso what can you do,โ you ask opening your locker. You lock eyes with a janitor at the end of the hall and he gives you a worried slash weirded-out experience. โShit, I forgot,โ you mumble pulling out your phone and placing it in the crook of your neck. โSorry to say that again I couldnโt hear you,โ you say desperately trying to look normal. He walks away but you keep the phone up to your ear.
โ to answer your question, not much, I can eat, I can interact with everything, but it just wonโt change the living world. Like with your phone, I can pick it up on play on it but as soon as you leave with it, it leaves tooโ Wally says leaning against your locker as you stuff your book bag. โ OMG YOU WENT THROUGH MY PHONE TOO!โ you yell almost dropping the phone from your shoulder. โUmmmโ Wally hums not knowing how to answer. โโฆyeah, but not like in a creepy way, like in an Iโm bored I have nothing else to do way,โ he says trying not to scare you off.
โOkkkโฆ.well it was nice to meet you Wally, but the sun is almost completely down and I have to get home before that happens so... I think this is where we say our goodbyes,โ you say putting on your coat. โCan we hang for just a little longer, I havenโt talked to a living person in yearssss, Years y/n, PLEASE just 20 more minutesโ Wally asks almost begging.
โI canโt, I wish I could but I have to get home before my mom goes to workโ Wally's face visibly drops โHere letโs make a Deal,โ you say closing your locker. โWe meet again tomorrow at lunch, in the libraryโ
โWhat if it doesn't work?โ
โThen it was nice to meet you,โ you say with a smile
โBut I have soo many questions,โ
โWell you can ask me while I walk,โ you say putting on your book bag and being your walk away.
โAre you a Chris still together?โ
โWow you really know all the teaโ
โYes or no times tickingโ Wally says tapping on his bare wrist.
โNo, we broke up last monthโ
โDid Kat ever find that expensive bracelet?โ
โNo, she didn'tโ
โ ok, I know The pink haired girl who used to be in your class stole itโ
โWhat-Anne?โ you ask genuinely confused.
โ yep, she's been wearing it since the first semester, she added a K charm on itโ
โOh my godโฆI asked her about that too,โ you say slightly shaking your head. By the existing doors. โare those all of your life-alternating questions?โ you ask, the rays from the setting sun outside on the side of your face. โNo, but I'll ask the rest tomorrow,โ Wally says looking into your eyes. The pre-existing crush plus the sunlight make you look like an angel. โTomorrow,โ you say with a nod โIt was nice to meet you, Wally,โ you say giving him a sad smile. Wally watched you leave through the exit doors a for the first time in a long time he felt alive.
~~~~
The next morning you woke up more confused than you had been in a long time. Did you dream all of it, was he really a ghost, was everyone right were you actually a nut case? You didnโt know all the answers but you did know you were late for school. You hurried to get ready putting in a little extra effort just in l look case your hot ghost wasnโt a figment of your imagination. On the way to school, you picked up Kat and stopped for a Big burger.
โIs that all?โ the worker asked over the speaker after you finished Kat's order. โUhh, no could I also get two big burgers with extra cheese one with extra tomatoโ you order leaning your head out the window slightly. โYour total is $21.35 you can pull up to the next window. โThank you,โ you say before driving up the window. โExtra hungry todayโ Kat chuckles looking through her purse. โDidnโt eat dinnerโ you lie.
Lunch felt like it took years to arrive, as greedy as you were you never found yourself so excited for lunch. You convinced yourself it was because you wanted to know you werenโt crazy and not because you just wanted to see Wally again. You sat at your usual study table waiting for something, anything that showed signs of life or at least undead life but it was started to seem like youโd be eating two Big burgers for lunch.
โMiss me?โ You hear from behind you making you jump. โShit, sorry I didnโt want to scare youโ Wally apologized quickly sitting down in the chair next to you. โWhat took you so long I was starting to think I really lost it,โ you say slightly irritated. โYou usually wait outside Kates class before lunch so I went there, and then when I got here you were reading that book you like so I didnโt want to interrupt and I usually just watch so-โ Wally cuts himself off taking in your facial expression.
โToo creepy?โ He asks raising an eyebrow
โa littleโ you nod, you see someone watching from the corner of your eye so you put in an earbud. โYou wanna go somewhere a little more privateโ Wally whispers โHereโs fineโ you respond with a shrug. โIs it?โ Wally asked looking around at the library packed with students.
โCome on, I know a place,โ Wall says standing up. โIโd like to remind you that people can still see me, please donโt lead me anywhere that can get me expelled,โ
Wally leads you to a room on the first floor hidden behind some old door in a corner of the school you havenโt seen before. โYou think anyone saw us-well meโ you correct โI donโt think so, and there are no cameras in this wing, hasnโt been updated since the 90s,โ Wally says cutting on the lights to reveal a slightly dusty old teachers' lounge that looks more 70s than 90s.
โYou hang here often?โ You say dusting off an orange couch before sitting down. โOnly when I want some privacy,โ Wally says sitting next to you on the couch while also giving you your own space. โ why would a ghost need privacy?โ you chuckle. โI mean I stillโ Wally starts but you cut him off โEww on this couch,โ you say laughing โNo, no, not that- well that too, but I mostly come here when I donโt want to be botheredโ
โBothered by who? Are there other ghosts?โ You asked interested โYep, thereโs a good bit of us hereโ You scrunch your face in confusion as you take the burgers out of your bag, โ I wonder why I can only see you,โ you think out loud grabbing your water bottle. โMaybe we have a special connection?โ Wally suggests with a flirty smile โMaybeโ you shrug looking for napkins in your bag.
โIs that for me?โ Wally asks pointing to the other burger you put on the coffee table. โMmhโ you nod with a mouthful, Wally grabs the burger unwrapping it excitedly.
โA Big burger with extra cheese and tomatoes, I havenโt had one of these in foreverโ Wally announces excitedly before taking a big bite. โHow did you know?โ Wally asks his mouth still full. You finish chewing before answering, โYou said you could eat and I read it was your favorite on your obituaryโ you say before taking another bite. โWhoโs the stalker now?โ Wally says with a smug smile as he takes a bite. โStill youโ you respond covering your half-full mouth causing him to chuckle.
This had become your routineโlunch in the lounge with Wally. Kat had a different lunch period, so she never questioned why you always ate alone. Some days, you grabbed food from the cafeteria; other days, Wally asked you to bring something special, something he hadnโt eaten in years. You quickly learned that while he could interact with food, he couldnโt consume it in the living world. So, you shared. It was an odd arrangement, but you liked it. You liked him.
~~~
The air was crisp as you stepped outside, the garbage bag swinging lightly in your grasp. The scent of damp leaves lingered in the evening breeze, the sun close to setting. As you reached the trash bins, a movement from the neighboring yard caught your eye.
An old woman, frail but steady, stood just outside. Shimming a blue cardigan over her shoulders. Her white hair was neatly curled, and her wrinkled hands trembled slightly as she gripped the railing. You had seen her before, countless times, in passing but it wasnโt until now that recognized her.
Wallyโs mother.
You stopped in your tracks at the realization. You had seen her picture before, in old articles and on Wallyโs obituary. His only family. The woman who had pushed him to be the best, and in doing so, had lost him forever.
She glanced up, her tired eyes meeting yours.
โEvening,โ she greeted her voice kind but carrying the weight of loneliness.
You hesitated before offering a sweet smile. โEvening, maโam.โ
That was all the encouragement she needed. Her expression brightened, and she took a few small steps toward you. โI donโt think weโve ever been properly introduced,โ she said. โIโm Mrs. Clark.โ
You nodded. โIโm Y/N. I live just over there.โ You gestured toward your house behind you.
โOh, so close!โ she mused, then chuckled softly. โI swear, I hardly know my neighbors these days.โ
There was something achingly sad about the way she said it. Before you could dwell on it, she clapped her hands together suddenly.
โI just was making dinner and made a little too much stew,โ she said, eyes twinkling. โWould you like to come inside? Itโd be a shame to let it go to waste, if you don't eat it, it'll just get frozen, lost in my abyss of a freezer.โ She chuckles
You hesitated, but the eager look in her eyes made it impossible to refuse. โSure,โ you said with a small smile.
Her home smelled warm and like spices and slow-cooked broth, a scent that wrapped around you like a comforting embrace. The house was modest but well kept, though there was an undeniable emptiness to it. You could tell it was once a home. Old school Pictures of Wally and other family members decorated the wall. Wooden steps worn out in the middle from years of use, you imagine Wally walking up and down them, as a child or teenager leaving for school and such.
โSo, what school do you go to, honey?โ Mrs. Clark asked as she placed the bowl in front of you breaking you out of trance.
โSplit River High,โ you answered, picking up your spoon.
Her hands stilled slightly before she sat across from you. โMy son went there,โ she said, her voice softer now. โHeโฆ passed away some years ago. On your football field.โ
You nodded, feigning a casual curiosity. โWally Clark right? Iโve heard of him.โ You downplay, โmy teacher said he was a great kid veryโฆpersonableโ you chuckle.
Her eyes brightened slightly, followed by a sad smile. โHe really wasโ She rose suddenly, moving toward the bookshelf. โA lot of people don't know but Wally was quite the handsome young man, he used to have girls line up at the doorโ His mother reminisced with a chuckle. โ should have seen the flowers those girls left on my porch after the wakeโ she chuckles, ๏ฟผโbut it was Girls like you he especially likedโ
โLike me?โ You ask slightly confused
โPretty girls,โ she clarified โWith nice smiles and brown skin, heโd like you ,โ she says causing you to involuntarily smile. โcan see him now in mind catching glimpses of you across the living room, stuttering over his wordsโ she smiled again to herself.
โI have pictures! Would you like to see them?โ She asks breaking herself from her trance.
Before you could answer, she was already pulling out a large photo album. She settled beside you, flipping through the pages with a kind of reverence only a mother could have.
And there he was, Wally. His grin was the same, full of cocky charm, his big brown eyes bright with life. In one photo, he stood in his football uniform, helmet tucked under his arm. In another, he was just a kid, quite the chunky one , no older than ten, holding up a trophy with pride.
โThis is when he was still my chunky monkey,โ she chuckles finger tracing the picture. โUsed to scarf down damn near the whole kitchen before he hit puberty and got tall, I told him my kitchen was not an all you can eatโ
It was your turn to chuckle โhis appetite was always big?โ you smile.
โalwaysโ she responds amused flipping the page. She landed on a picture during a college tour, the together smiling holdings flags with the school logo.
โHe was such a determined boy,โ Mrs. Clark said, her voice thick with emotion. โdetermined to make me pleasedโ. She sighed, her fingers ghosting over a picture of him laughing at his last birthday party, cake on his chin. โI pushed him too hardโ
You swallowed, unsure what to say.
Instead, you listened.
You listened as she told many stories bout his stubbornness, his humor, and his love for extra cheese on everything. About how heโd sneak out past curfew, how he once tried to fix a broken fence and made it worse, how he never left the house without saying goodbye.
And for a moment, Wally wasnโt just a ghost. He was someoneโs son. Someoneโs whole world.
You stayed longer than you meant to, eating warm stew and flipping through pages of his life. When you finally left the comfort of the couch to use the bathroom, you walked past an open room door. The light blue walls of a room catch your attention. You reverse taking two steps back, curiously, and you peek inside, before checking down the steps to see Mrs. Clark seated on the couch. You open the slowly sliding into the room. โ it was undeniably Wallyโs. Almost every genre of Old movie poster scattered the wall, two or three tasteful Playboys, footballs, and metals on top and the floor of his dresser.
You walked over to his bed, sitting on it softly imagining what it would be like to be here with him, watching him fill the space of the small room. You looked around the room Against your better judgment you bent down to smell his pillow hoping Ms. Clark was still downstairs. you inhaled the smell of old wood almost masking his sent, it was so light you almost didn't catch it, a mixture of cologne like a musk and grease most likely from his hair. All these years later and you could smell Wally on his sheets. You savor it for as long as you can without being overly creepy, not knowing if youโll ever get the chance to smell him again.
You stand up from the bed looking around once more, an untouched prom suit hanging in the closet stopped you in your tracks cause your chest to tighen, how was it possible you were grieving someone you could still speak to every day? You turn your attention to his wooden desk filled with a bunch of items. Old movie tickets, sketches, and lots of composition notebooks. A gold ring catches your eye, lying on top of some dog tags you assumed belonged to him grandfather.
โYou can take something, if you see anything you like,โ Ms. Clark says behind you causing you to jump slightly. โ I've been meaning to donate some of this stuff butโฆโ her words die out in her throat. โI think heโd like the fact some pretty girl to have something of his more than another old lady at the goodwill,โ she says with a smile. โOk, Iโll look,โ you say with a smile, with that, she turns on her heel back down the stairs. You take the ring and on of the beat-up composition notebooks. On you way out you see a blue jersey poking out of his bottom drawer, you quickly take the jersey stuff it into your purse.๏ฟผ
โIt was nice to meet you Ms. Clarkโ you say with a tight smile.
โYou aswellโ she responds with a small nod, โfeel free to visit wheneverโ she suggestes with a hopeful smile.
โOf course I will, you know where to find me if you never need anythingโ
You're Goodbye to Ms. Clark is a sweet one filled with tight hugs and a promise to visit, you left feeling like you gained a friend and simultaneously also like you lost one.
The next day, you sat in the lounge, eating off your lunch tray in front of you, Wally moving in close behind you, leaning over eating a fry off the tray, using another to balance on his fingertip.
There was something there between you two an electricity you felt even through his undead body. But you knew better than to act on it. Wally was a ghost, and you were alive. It could never work.
That didnโt stop you from noticing him, though.
And it definitely didnโt stop him from noticing you.
Like today. It was hot, so you had on a tube top, your braids pulled back into a ponytailโexactly how he liked. Your shorts were just a couple of inches shorter than the dress code allowed, but Wally wasnโt complaining. At the end of the day, he was still a teenage boy. Correction: a horny teenage boy.
โI met your mom last night.โ
The fry slipped right through his hand and onto the floor.
โWhat?โ He sat up, his full attention now on you.
You told him everything, minus what you felt didnโt need to be shared(aka sniffing his sheets and stealing clothes)
Wally was silent, his expression unreadable. Then, finally, he sighed, running a hand through his hair. โWell Itโs good to hear youโre getting along well with the in-laws,โ he muttered. โOH MY GOD Wally โ you yelp โCan you be serious for one moment?โ he doesn't respond staring at you blank-faced.
โWhat?โ You ask genuinely confused.
โThat was me being seriousโ Wally responds causing you to roll your eyes.
โDid She pull out the albums, ?โ
You nodded. โ Yep, and She has all of your stuff exactly how you left it.
A ghost of a smile played on his lips before fading into something sadder. โShe was always sentimental even though she hate to admit it.โ
You hesitated before reaching out, your fingers passing through his arm. You sigh internally โShe misses you.โ
His jaw tightened. โYeah. I miss her too.โ
A pause. Then, in a softer voice, โDid she seemโฆ okay?โ
โSheโs lonely,โ you admitted. โBut sheโs holding on.โ
Wally let out a slow breath, leaning back against the couch. โI always figured sheโd move away. Start fresh somewhere. Guess I was wrong.โ
You didnโt know what to say to that, so you let the silence settle between you.
Then, after a long moment, Wally chuckled, shaking his head. โYou really sat there, eating my momโs stew, flipping through my childhood like some kind of undercover investigator?โ
You smirked. โI do my research.โ
He laughed at that, a genuine, full-bodied laugh that made the weight in the room feel lighter.
โDamn,โ he said again, shaking his head. โI wish I couldโve seen her and you together .โ
You looked at him then, his usual bravado had cracked just enough to let something real slip through.
Maybe, just maybe, the ritual was a possibility.
Your eyes returned down to the leftover food on. Your tray, you took about fry dipping it in your ketchup mayonnaise concoction before offering Wally. You didn't notice at first but a bit of mayonnaise fell on your lip. โYou finished?โ you asked, completely unaware of the effect you had on him. He bit his lips holding back his inappropriate joke. Unaware You wiped some mayonnaise from the corner of your mouth, and Wallyโs eyes tracked the movement, laser focused on your lips.
๏ฟผ
โYeah I feel bloated,โ he joked, forcing himself to look away.
โGhosts can get bloated?โ you giggled, wiping your mouth with a napkin.
โThis ghost can,โ he said, flopping onto the couch across from you. In reality, he wanted to lie on your couch rest his head on your thighs, and let you play in his hair. A fantasy he kept to himself when he was bored.
But today, something was different. Maybe it was the heat. Or the thought of you being in his room touching his things or Maybe it was the way you looked at him through your lashes, sipping your drink, eyeing him when you thought he wasnโt paying attention. Whatever it was, the words slipped out before he could stop them.
โI wish I could touch you.โ
Your stomach flipped.
โWhere did that come from?โ you asked, chuckling, trying to keep your cool. Wally let out a breath. He hadnโt meant to say it out loud, but now that it was out there, he wasnโt going to take it back.
โDo you thinkโฆ if we had met under normal circumstances, youโd like me?โ
Your fingers tightened slightly around your cup. โLike, or like like?โ
โLike like,โ he clarified.
You took a moment, pretending to think about it, but you already knew your answer. โWell, I wouldnโt have started a fan club in your honor or anything, butโฆโ You popped a fry into your mouth, shrugging. โYouโre attractive. And nice. I could maybe see myself having a little crush.โ
Wally sat up straighter, intrigued. โYou think Iโm attractive?โ He says with a cocky smile. You roll your eyes โAnd you maybe couldโve had a crush on me?โ
โDonโt let it go to your head, You just seem like youโd be a good boyfriend,โ you admitted.
Wally grinned, leaning forward. โIโd be the best boyfriend.โ
โOh yeah?โ
โHell yeah,โ he said, suddenly animated. โIโd carry your booksโwell, your laptop, โcause letโs be real, who uses books anymore? Iโd pick you up for school in my car, youโd love it. I had a black 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sleek as hell. Weโd go on so many dates and trips, plus unlike Chris, Iโd have no problem posting you on my Instagram.โ He said, causing a laugh from you.
โChris was a dickโ
โChris was a double dick,โ Wally corrected. You chuckle into your hand causing Wally's face to scrunch in confusion, โWhat?โ Wally asks like a lost puppy. โyour age is showingโ you laugh again unable to contain yourself. โ no one says that anymore, actually don't think anyone ever said thatโ
โ Well, Iโm trying to say You deserve someone better, someone who is proud shows you off, Thst woudn't be a problem for me.โ
You stared at him for a beat too long, your pulse fluttering. It was stupid, how easily he got to you. How easily he made you want.
โToo bad youโre dead,โ you say as a joke but you sound more disappointed than you intended. โRightโ Wally mumbles coming to sit next to you, bored or out of curiosity he begins trying to poke your arm, and when that doesnโt work he starts mindlessly putting his whole hand through your body. โWhat are you doing ?โ You ask confused. โHoping for a miracle,โ Wally says throwing his head back. โThere has to be a reason only you can see me, this doesnโt just happen,โ he says. โI mean youโre not the first ghost I've spoken toโ you admit.
.โWhat? Youโve talk to other ghosts?โ Wally asks surprised and slightly jealous. โWell one other ghost, my older brother Leeโ you say putting your cup on the coffee table. โI remember you saying something about that at the football gameโ Wally recalls
โYou were there too?โ You ask surprised โ I go with you everywhere y/n, weโll accept the bathroomโ he confessed โThatโsโฆgood to know,โ you say with a smile, it was weird but you felt a sense of comfort knowing he was always around even when you couldnโt see him, like a guardian angel. โHow did you speak to your brother?โ Wally asks breaking you out of your daze,
โI did a ritual,โ you admit. โSomething my great grandma told me about. She told me where ๏ฟผdescendent from witches but sheโd never really told me the history behind it. Sheโd flip through her big old book telling me what each spell did what.๏ฟผShe also told me never to do it, that the spell, that lt was too unpredictable. But he died so suddenly, he had a heart defect he had always dealt but I thought it had gotten better. he Just went to sleep one night, coming back from some frat party and never woke up. He was away at college at that time an just had no closure. I just wanted to talk to him one last time, to tell him how much I loved him and missed him.โ
Wally stays quiet, watching you. He never thought it was possible to feel so close to something yet so impossibly far away. Some days, he wondered if it was better when you didnโt know he existed because now, being acknowledged but unable to touch, unable to truly be with you, felt worse than being invisible. All he wanted was to hold you close, comfort you.
โThe spell worked at first,โ you continue. โI got to talk to him. I even got to hug him, like really hug him as if he was actually alive.โ you pause takinga breath. โBut thenโฆ after it was like he haunted my mind. Iโd dream about him calling me, begging me to help him, to let him free. Sometimes my dreams were just red, like blood, with his screams echoing in the dark. Iโd wake up drenched in sweat, screaming my chest tight. It went on for over a month. And when I finally told my parents what happened, they sent me to a mental hospital.โ
Wally listens, completely still.
โWhile I was there, I called my great-grandma and told her everything. She said it was because I disrupted his passingโthat Lee didnโt want to leave, so he tried to use me to come back.โ You exhale shakily. โI donโt know what she did, but I was told she came down from Louisiana for a weekend and when I got home, the nightmares were gone. If it werenโt for you, Iโd probably chalk it all up to grief.โ
Wally is quiet for a long time, his fingers drumming idly against his knee. You could tell heโs thinking, the gears in his head turning as he pieces something together. Then, suddenly, he sits up straighter, eyes locked onto yours with a determination in your eye.
โYou could try it again,โ he says.
You blink. โWhat?โ
โThe ritual,โ he clarifies. โYou could try it on me.โ
Your heart stutters in your chest. โWallyโโ
โI know what youโre gonna say,โ he interrupts, shaking his head. โThat itโs too dangerous. That it didnโt end well last time. But itโs
different with us.โ
You raise your eyebrow slightly confused โHow, exactly?โ
He leans forward, his gaze intense. โBecause Iโm not like Lee. I donโt need to reach you through dreams, and Iโm not trying to cling onto life, I already exist here, with you. You see me. You hear me. I justโฆ canโt touch you.โ His voice dips slightly, frustrated. โBut maybe the ritual could change that.โ
You exhale, shaking your head. โYou donโt know that.โ
โI donโt,โ he admits, โbut itโs worth a shot, isnโt it?โ
You hesitate, your mind racing. Every instinct told you this is a bad idea. This is exactly what your great-grand
Ma warned you about. But then Wally looks at you, really looks at you with his big brown eyes you know youโre gonna fold.
What if it worked?
What if, for once, things didnโt end in heartbreak?
You swallow hard, in an effort to push down the thought. โโฆIโll think about it.โ
A slow grin spreads across Wallyโs face. โThatโs not a no.โ
You roll your eyes, but thereโs no real bite to it. โDonโt get ahead of yourself, Monte Carlo.โ
But even as you try to play it off, you canโt ignore the way your heart pounds in your chest, in anticipation Because deep down, you already knew, you were gonna do it.
~~~~
You placed Wallyโs folded jersey on your vanity inside the circle of chalk you created, your new makeup brushes replaced with lit pink candles. Youโd brought up the fire extinguisher from the basement just in case and left a window open so his soul could enter. You didnโt know how to feel, a part of you felt scared that you might do something wrong and not be able to talk to Wally again, or worse youโd stop his soul from possibly moving on. But there was another part of you that felt excited, excited to Really see Wally for the first time. Look into his alive eyes touch his skin, hold his hand possibly more.
You cleaned your room top to bottom, lit one scented candle took a nice everything shower, and put on your cutest pajamas. You felt more like you were getting ready for a sneaky link than a resuscitation, but it was always better safe than sorry.
โMight as well startโ you say taking a deep breath walking up to your vanity. You quickly opened the old notebook belonging to your great grandmother. Reading over ritual once more, You prick your finger with a pin causing a small drop of blood to form. Putting down the pin you smear your blood onto a small bay leaf with your request scribbled on it before taking a match to burn it. You hold the burning bay leaf in your hand until it turns completely into ash. For some unknown reasons it didnโt burn you, honesty you couldnโt even feel the heat. You pace your ash covered hand on his jersey before speaking.
I would like to speak with Wally Clarkโ you say with your hand placed on his jersey eyes closed . When the words leave your mouth you feel a chill down your spine. โ I invite Wally Clark into my home, his spirit, and his fleshโ As you speak you feel a gust of wind through your room, there was a sense of electricity running through you, you could feel it the strongest in your fingers. โI offer my blood as his living passageway, I invite him to breathe my air, live his life if only for tonightโ As soon as the final words left your mouth the wind blew through your window blowing out your candles.
When You open your eyes youโre surrounded by mostly darkness, the only light being the fairy lights above your bed. Before you could decide what to do the candles were re-lit. But nothing, with your brother, his bracelet disappeared and he appeared right in front of you but now nothing. Just when you were about to start putting everything up you felt a tap. You scream turning around when your eyes land on him.
Your hands fly to your mouth. โWALLY!โ
His eyes are wide, stunned like he barely believes it himself. โIt worked.โ His voice is rough, breathless. โI canโt believe it fucking worked.โ
You practically launch yourself at him, arms wrapping around his neck, feeling his warmth, his solidity, the realness of him. His arms come around your waist instantly, holding you tight, one hand sliding into your hair. He turns his head into the crook of your neck taking in your sent. โYou smell so fucking goodโ Wally whispered absentmindedly into your ear. He genuinely couldnโt help himself.
His words causing you to feel a shiver all the way down to your core, youโd hope for your dignity say he stop. โThank youโ you whispered slightly breathless removing your head from his chest.
โHoly shit,โ you whisper, pressing your hands against his chest, feeling the steady thump of his heart. You look up at him, breathless. โItโs like youโre alive.โ
โI feel alive,โ Wally murmurs, his hand trailing down your back, gripping your waist.
You suddenly realize how close you are, how his body heat radiated against yours, how you could smell him, just like on his pillow some type of cologne and a natural warm, not quite musk but close something uniquely him.
Your breath shudders as your fingers mindlessly trail lower, brushing over his stomach.
You glance up, suddenly shy. โSorry. I justโฆ I never thought Iโd be able to actually touch youโ
โDon't Apologize.โ he says with a big smile lifting the same hand to leave a quick Kiss on your knuckle, โHow long does it last?โ He asks his eyes falling to your lips before returning to your eyes.
โI donโt know, a couple of hours probably, with my brother we only had two, and during the ritual, his bracelet disappeared. So I had no way of contacting him again. But your jersey didnโt disappear soโฆโ
โI could come back againโ Wally finishes with a smile. โYeahโ you respond almost dazed staring at him, it wasnโt like you didnโt see him every day but it was different now, the scent of him now lingered in the air, and you could feel the body heat radiating off of him, it was different a good Different. โWaitโฆdid you take my jersey?โ Wally asks with a smug smile spreading across his face . โMaybeโฆโ you say with a small shrug. โBut Iโm still the stalker?โ
โYes, exactlyโ you respond with a chuckle
โRightโ Wally drags looking around the room โYour room just like I imagined it,โ Wally says walking around. โWell with more teddy bears,โ he says picking up a stuffed unicorn from the big stack of stuffed animals on your bed. โDonโt Judge, I remember your mom saying something about you sleeping with a Stuffyโ you say taking the unicorn from him. โShe told you about Stuffy?โ Wally asked a mixture of surprise and embarrassment. โMmh, she told me a lot of thingsโ
Wally raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk tugging at his lips. โOh yeah? Like what?โ
You bit your lip, debating whether to indulge him. Finally, you shrugged. โShe told me about your chunky monkey days,โ you say with a sly smile. โShe showed me pictures tooโ You continue pressing your lips together in an effort to hold your laugh.
The color drained from Wally's face instantly. โWhatโ Wally muttered the embarrassment visible in his face. You chuckle at his reaction โDonโt worry, I think you looked cute with a little meat on your boneโ you joke causing Wally to drag a hand down his face. โI canโt believe she showed you thatโ
You giggled,โ I think she just wanted someone to talk to, I told her Iโd come over again to visit,โ you say readjusting one of youโre figurines. โ will you?โ Wally asks looking at you as he walks around the room. โ of course, we're friends nowโ you respond honestly. He smiled at you before returning his attention to your room.
You watched as he wandered around your room, fingers grazing your desk, your bookshelf, the little trinkets and photos you had scattered around. It was surreal seeing him interact with your world like this. Normally, he just hovered watching, talking, existing in a way that felt just out of reach. But now?
Now he was here.
Really here.
You couldnโt stop staring. His presence was tangibleโthe warmth of his body, the way the scent of cologne and old leather clung to him. His movements had weight. You could hear the soft shift of his shoes against your rug, the quiet exhale of his breath.
It made your heart race, It made you think.
โSo,โ Wally said suddenly, turning back to you. โYou got me for a couple of hours. What now?โ
You hesitated, a hundred different thoughts running through your head, but only one stood out.
โโฆDo you want to go for a drive?โ
Wallyโs expression flickered, something unreadable passing through his eyes before he grinned. โYou serious?โ
You nodded. โYou had that whole speech about picking me up for school in your car. You loved that thing. If I were you, the first thing Iโd want to do in a real body again is drive.โ
Wally let out a low whistle. โDamn. You get me Girlโ
You laughed, grabbing your keys from your nightstand. โCome on, before this shit wears off.โ
The night air was warm, thick with the lingering heat of the day as you and Wally slipped outside. The street was quiet, the world oblivious to the impossibility of what youโd just done.
Wally looked around like he was seeing everything for the first time. The streetlights, the parked cars, the trees swaying in the faint breeze. He ran a hand over your carโs hood, fingers splayed against the cool metal, before turning to you with a soft smile.
โShotgun,โ he said.
You rolled your eyes but unlocked the doors, sliding into the driverโs seat as he got in beside you.
When you turned the key in the ignition, the dashboard lights flickered on, casting a soft glow over Wallyโs face. He looked almost reverent like he was trying to soak in every detail. You pulled out of the driveway and onto the empty road, the hum of the engine filling the silence.
โThis feelsโฆ insane,โ Wally admitted, watching the streetlights blur past. โI forgot what wind felt like.โ
You glanced over, watching the way he stuck his hand out the window, fingers cutting through the air like he was trying to hold onto it.
You smiled. โFeels good, doesnโt it?โ
He nodded, looking over at you. โYou feel good.โ Your breath hitched. Again Wally's brain spoke for him, as much as he enjoyed the feeling of the wind on his face and the adrenaline of a late-night car ride. Nothing felt better than your small hands running down his chest, how your breast felt pushed up against him. For you It wasnโt just the words, it was the way he said them. Low, warm, like he wasnโt just talking about the drive. Like he was talking about you.
Your fingers tightened around the steering wheel.
โIโโ You cleared your throat. โIโm glad youโre here.โ
Wally didnโt say anything for a moment. Then, quietly, โMe too.โ
You drove for a while, neither of you in a rush to get anywhere. The town looked different, a lot different than Wally remembered but somehow it also didn't. New stores sprinkled the streets, plazas new street lights, but the roads were the same, and when you turned the corner Big Burger was exactly where it had always been. Now remodeled of course, but the bench he sat at so many times in his youth was stationed in front of the restaurant right where he left it. at night the street were quieter, softer, like it existed just for you two.
After a few minutes, Wally reached for the radio, flipping through stations until he landed on an old rock song.
You glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. โReally?โ
He grinned. โWhat? This is classic.โ
You snorted but let the music play, the familiar tune filling the car. You let your mind wander to a reality, a different time where Wally would be driving, youโd be in the passenger seat fixing your makeup and singing to music while he drove you to school. A different reality where he wasn't a resurrected ghost.
Wally leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes for a moment, just existing. And he looked alive, real. The air between you was electric. It wasnโt just the thrill of the ritual working it was the way his presence filled your space now, the way he felt real in a way he never had before. You could hear the faint sound of his breathing, feel the warmth of his body near yours, and when his fingers brushed yours when you put the car in parkโwhether by accident or intentโyou felt it down to your bones.
More real.
More dangerous.
You parked in the driveway, shutting off the engine. Neither of you moved to get out.
โโฆSo,โ Wally said, voice softer now. โSame time tomorrow?โ he joked but a sense of seriousness laced his tone. You turned to look at him, taking in the way the porch light cast shadows over his face, highlighting his strong jawline, and the dark warmth in his eyes.
Something inside you snapped, the last string of restraint.
โโฆYeah,โ you murmured. โSame time tomorrow,โ you said you're eyes lingering on his.
โYou keep looking at me like that,โ Wally murmured, โand Iโm gonna start thinking real crazy.โ
You swallowed, pulse hammering in your throat. โLike what?โ
โLike maybe you brought me back for more than just a joyride.โ
Your stomach flipped. He wasnโt wrong.
The truth was, you had imagined it. Countless times. What it would be like if he were alive if you could touch him. Youโd pushed the thoughts away because they were pointless, but now? Now nothing was stopping you. So you did the one thing youโd wanted to do for weeks. You reached out, placed your hand on his chest, and felt his heart beating beneath your palm. His breath hitched.
โHoly shit,โ he whispered.
Your fingers flexed against him, feeling the warmth of his skin through the thin fabric of his shirt. Your eyes met his, and for the first time, you saw something different in themโsomething hungry.
โI donโt know how long I have,โ he admitted, voice rough. โI donโt wanna waste a second.โ
You exhaled shakily. โThen donโt.โ
That was all the invitation he needed.
Wally was on you in an instant, his lips crashing into yours, all heat and desperation. His hands cupped your face, thumbs tracing your jaw as if he couldnโt believe you were real. You melted into him, fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer, needing more.
He groaned when you pressed against him, his grip tightening. โFuck, you feel so good.โ
โSo do you,โ you whispered between kisses.
You stumbled back into your room, His hands were everywhereโyour waist, your thighs, slipping beneath the hem of your pajama shorts, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. You gasped when he bit gently at your neck, his voice a low growl against your skin.
โIโve been wanting you since the first time I saw you,โ he admitted, his breath hot against your collarbone. โEvery time you walked around in those tiny ass shorts, every time you licked your lips when you ateโfuck.โ
You arched beneath him, dizzy with want. โI want you to fuck me so bad Wally.โ
His eyes darkened. โReally?โ he asks almost not believing it
You nodded. โYeah.โ
And he did. Wally quickly helped you remove your top, his eyes darkened with desire as he took in the sight of you. "God, you're fucking gorgeous," he growled, reaching out to grab your waist and pull you onto the bed with him.
You straddled his hips, grinding down against the hardness you could feel his girth pressing against your core. "Someone's eager," you teased with a chuckle before leaning down to press a kiss to his lips.
"You have no idea," Wally groaned into the kiss, his hands roaming your body, caressing and squeezing every inch of exposed skin. You broke the kiss, trailing your lips down his neck and chest, pausing to bite at the skin.
"Fuck, Y/N," he gasped, his hands fisting in your hair. Grinned up at him, giving him another bite before sliding further down his body. You tugged at the waistband of his boxers, pulling them down his legs and tossing them aside. His cock sprang free, hard and throbbing, the tip glistening with pre-cum.
You moan at the sight electricity running straight to your center. โoh my godโ you whisper wrapping your hand around his shaft and giving it a slow stroke. Wally let out a low moan, his hips bucking up into your touch. His eyes were heavy-lidded with lust. You leaned down, running your tongue along the underside of his cock from base to tip. Wally cursed under his breath, his hands gripping the sheets tightly. Emboldened by his reaction, you took him into your mouth, sucking him deep and swirling your tongue around his head.
"Fuck, Y/N," Wally panted, his fingers tangling in your hair. "Just like that. Your mouth feels so fucking good baby."
You continued to work him with your mouth, taking him deeper each time until he hit the back of your throat. You gagged slightly, but pushed through, determined to bring him to the brink. Wally's moans grew louder, his hips thrusting up into your mouth as you sucked him hard and fast. He didnโt push your head down, his hand coming to your head to gather your braids into a ponytail away from your face.
"I'm going to cum," he warned, his grip on your hair tightening. "Fu- Fuck shit Y/N, I'm cumming!" With a loud groan, he bucks his hips into your mouth as he pulsed in your throat his hot seed spurting down into your stomach. You swallowed it all, every single drop and you enjoyed the feeling of his warmth dripping down your throat. Continuing to suck him until he was well spent. Whiney mess above you until he was as gently as possible trying to pull you off of his dick. โshit babyโ he says whining out a moan. โ I can't take anymoreโ he says his voice shaking slightly.
You released him from your mouth with a pop, licking your lips. โAnd I thought you were innocent, Now I definitely can't let you out my sight,โ Wally chuckles before he pulled you into a searing kiss, his tongue delving deep as he tasted himself on your lips.
"Your lips are so soft" he smiles against yours. You breathed when he finally broke the kiss.
"I wanna try so many things with you." He groans, With a sudden move, he flipped you onto your back, settling between your legs. He hooked one of your legs over his shoulder, spreading you open for him.
"You're so fucking wet," he groaned, running a finger through your slick folds. "You get wet like this from sucking me offโ he chuckles โI can't wait to taste you." He smiles excitedly. You squirm underneath him, his finger rubbing against your clit. โYou like that?โ he asks with grin Rubbing his fingers against your wet center the warmth making it hard to stop. Wally enjoyed watching as your chest rose and fell faster, the small moan you contained by biting your lip. โYou want me to taste you?โ He asks the cocky smile never leaving his face. You donโt respond, audibly nodding eagerly. โ I want to hear you say itโ Wally says with a mischievous smile. โ I want you to taste meโ
Wally shakes his head, โNo baby say my nameโ
โ I want you taste me Wallyโ you comply causing him to groan in satisfaction. โGood girlโ he smiles
With that He leaned down, burying his face between your legs and licking a long stripe up your slit. Before looking back up at you to savor your reaction. You cried out, your back arching off the bed as pleasure shot through you. Your responses only spurred him on further
Wally groaned against your core lapping at you like a man starved. Looking back up every
once in a while to enjoy your reaction., every often to He circled your clit with his tongue, flicking and teasing the sensitive bud with his fast paced thumb until you were a writhing mess beneath him.
"Fu- Please, Wally," you begged, your hands fisting in his hair. "I canโtโ
โYou got it, baby, you can do itโ he hummed against your cunt the vibration causing your leg to shake. โtake this tongue, and ill give you this dick,โ he groans talking you through it, his eyes locked onto your face. Sliding two fingers inside you and curling them just right. โTell me how much you want itโ he demands and you physically can't answer Your head falling back against the pillow. โ Tell me babyโ he repeat. โ I want it so fucking bad babyโ you moan out as he worked you with his fingers and tongue, bringing you closer and closer to the edge. Just as you were about to cum, he pulled back, leaving you panting and desperate.
"Not yet," he said with a wicked grin. "I want to be inside you when you cum." he groans positioning himself at your entrance. He pushes into you slowly enjoying the feeling of stretching you out until he was all the way inside, filling you.
"Fuck," he groaned, his eyes squeezing shut as he struggled to maintain control. His hands roaming over your torso, โThis is my pussyโ
"You're so tight. So perfect for me." He groaned starting to move, thrusting in and out of you at a steady pace. You wrapped your legs around his waist, urging him deeper as you met him thrust for thrust. He wanted so badly to go harder to fuck you into the mattress until your legs were jello but he didn't want to hurt you.
"Harder," you demanded, digging your nails into his back. "Fuck me harder."
โ I wonโt be able to stopโ he warns with a chuckle and you nod in acknowledgment Wally complied happily, slamming into you with renewed vigor. The bed creaked beneath you, the headboard slamming against the wall as he pounded into you relentlessly. You were grateful your mom worked nights because you were sure your neighbors could hear you two. Wally looked down every so often to enjoy the sight of your wet cunt sucking him in. โ you take me so well babyโ๏ฟผ
"Don't stop," you cried, your walls starting to flutter around his cock. "I'm going to cum."
Wally reached between your bodies, rubbing tight circles on your clit as he thrust into you. That was all it took to send you over the edge. You came with a scream, your body convulsing beneath him as wave after wave of pleasure crashed over you. Wally didnโt stop chasing his orgasm pound into you until your cream coated his cock.
When he did cum he, burying himself deep, pulsing inside you. He collapsed on top of you, both of you panting and sweat-slicked as you tried to catch your breath. You tried to move slightly his big now soft cock twitching inside you. โ let me stay in a little longerโ he hums against your throat. His hands wander down to your waist. โ itโs so warmโ he smiles against your skin bucking into you slightly, he thrusts two times before pulling himself out.
"That was... fucking incredible," Wally murmured, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
You smiled up at him, running your fingers through his damp curls. "It was," you agreed with a small smile.
โI don't think Iโm not done yet," Wally confesses looking down between you at his somehow hard cock.
He grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"I want you from behind" Wally confesses with a smile biting at your shoulder causing you to giggle.
~~~~~
Later, when you lay tangled together in the sheets, your body still thrumming with pleasure, Wally traced lazy circles on your bare hip.
โWe should make a deal,โ he murmured.
You turned your head, meeting his gaze. โA deal?โ
He smirked. โYou summon me every night. And we do something new. Could be anything. A drive, a date, a movieโฆโ He kissed your shoulder. โOr more of this.โ
Your heart pounded. โEvery night?โ
โEvery night,โ he confirmed. โUntil we figure out how to make this permanent. After tonightโฆโ he paused his finger tracing down the spine of your back.๏ฟผโyou're really never getting rid of meโ
You turned staring at him, searching his face. He wasnโt just talking about sex he was talking about being with you.
You bit your lip. There was no way possible way this could end well but for some reason you responded ๏ฟผ โOkay.โ
His grin widened. โYeah?โ
โYeah,โ you whispered.
His fingers tightened on your waist, and he kissed you again, slow and deep. His body pressing hard against you.
Suddenly a hefty breeze hit your face knocking the air from your nose. And just like that, he was gone, a poof followed by a breeze left you alone in your bed, the warmth of his hands gone. The only proof he was there was the sticky slick between your thighs. You rolled over in your bed rolling yourself tight in your blanket tears stinging your eyes and as you drifted off to sleep you wonderedโฆwhat would tomorrow bring and, how the fuck where you gonna explain this to Kat?
