The raven-haired boy's words didn't make him raise a brow; no, it was his body language. Cedric, though humble and sometimes aloof, was not dumb by any means. He had noticed that William, intentionally or not, had taken Mary's time away little by little. Noticed how, instead of sneaking away from the Beauxbatons lot to sit with him at the Hufflepuff table, she had been sitting with Will. How the overenthusiastic magical creature facts that were usually bombarding were not being given to Cedric. Instead, probably to this poor victim. However, this wasn't Cedric's concern. His concern was more about how he knew Mary more than most. Primarily, how naive and oblivious she could be. No malice was in his next words.

"That sounds just like what Mars says." He gave a small chuckle. "Personally, I think she gets excited with just about anyone who will let her talk about chimeras and blast-ended skwerts." This was followed by a small head shake. "'M just asking since 've noticed she's been spending more time with you since the Yule Ball." Would he add that his father had been asking about the lad who took her? Maybe not yet.
