'The whole idea of the [Elizabethan] clown and how there's something very interesting and sinister about the clown,” said the designer of his inspiration.
I LOVE this. It reminds me of The Joker and I'm obsessed.
Carolina Herrera S/S 2014 │ via Vogue.
"Herrera’s collection isn’t necessarily one that ticks off the emerging trends - her uptown clientele are more concerned with simply finding a pretty look for the social season’s round of luncheons and benefit galas, and make no mistake, they will find many prize contenders here - but there was plenty that was on message: cotton shirts with organza panels, monochrome and pleats, to name a few."
Zac Posen S/S 2014 │ via Vogue.
"Posen went much more pretty in pastel pinks and pistachio, parma violet and nude. There was still the same attention to cut – a Posen signature – with controlled frills and spills to match sparing use of florals. Decidedly feminine in style, Posen is a designer who sticks with what he knows – you’re not going to see the Nineties take a sashay down his catwalk anytime soon."
(NYFW Diary Day 3) A Day In the Life of: Melissa Rubini, InStyle Style Director
Good morning, NY! It’s Saturday, but we’re still going…
First things first of the day: I order a gigantic Starbucks venti latte to jolt me awake. My outfit today includes: This fall/winter 2013 Derek Lam dress in black/white and navy, a pair of Roger Vivier classic pumps that will help get me from point A to point Z without a problem, and my trusty Saint Laurent BFF. I carry a tiny black Smythson “For the Love of Fashion” notebook, and my sunglasses of choice? My tortoiseshell Saint Laurents.
Let’s go!
Prabal Gurung: Gorgeous, poetic and oh-so-modern. The colors! This is my fave show so far. The stores will have more “friendly” (aka wearable) versions, so you should definitely keep these looks on your radar.
Alexander Wang: Here, we step into a more avant-garde territory. The looks are tough and cool.
PS. I take a break to call my husband and check in on him; he has a bad cold and is on his own with our daughter.
Monique Lhuillier: Pink and coral are becoming a strong combo for this season and Monique has a few options for us. My fave for an evening party is this cropped fuchsia top with the full orange ball gown skirt. So fresh and fun.
Altuzarra: The show closes the evening for me, and my mind wanders to all the vacations I would like to take…The whole collection would be perfect for a very laid back-yet-chic trip with my husband in Spain. We can dream!
