do yew think hunhan is still possible in consideration to the fact that Sehun works for SM Ent, they live in separate countries, only ever end up in similar spots on the globe on the odd occasion, and have to manage busy careers - let alone a private relationship that would have to be kept under wraps for the sake of the media? Thoughts? :)

Firstly, the fact that Sehun still works for SM Ent is redundant information considering the fact that many people from SM have dated others before, despite whatever rules they may have within the company and their contracts.

Secondly, they may live in separate countries, however they do both have strong connections with asia, which would make a long-distance relationship easier if it were the case. The fact that both of them also do promotions within said countries and separate times actually makes the “odd occasion” of them being in the same spot actually way more common than you think.

I will admit that both of them do have very busy careers, though honestly, considering the amount of affection that goes into a relationship, and judging by the relationship demeanour Sehun and Luhan seem to have, I don’t think that’s any reason to rule out the chance of their relationship.

it’s a little different to if Sehun were dating someone other than Luhan. When dating scandals happen with SM contractors, it’s usually with another member of the SM company (e.g. Baek and Taeyeon, Kai and Krys) however, considering that Luhan is no longer in the company - therefore not really SM’s responsibility, it would cause a HUGE problem in regards to SM’s reputation. Not only is Luhan from outside of the company, but he’s a former member, making the conflict kind of a huge issue in terms of SM and its security. The likeliness that they would be given the opportunity to see each other, let alone date, is near impossible. 

The fact that Luhan has conflicts with SM anyway means that it would be unprofessional on his (and Sehun’s) behalf to actually date. Even if they were somehow given that opportunity, the likeliness of it being successful due to the legal obligations is very unlikely. 

Also, EXO’s main focus is in Korea at current. Really, the connection is all that strong. While the interchange between Korea and China promotions is a lot smoother in comparison to that of, say, the USA for example (or any other non-asian country for that matter), if you compare EXO’s main body promotions in China vs in Japan, it actually veers more towards Japan. The thing is, since so many members have left EXO-M, it means that trying to promote EXO’s Chinese line has become sort of unconventional. That’s why Lay is having solo promotions (since he’s a Chinese member) whilst EXO, in recent years, has focused on promoting in Japanese. In reality it’s all about expansion. All that really means is that the connection between Chinese and Korean relations (in regards to Luhan and Sehun, that is) is kiiind of slim

Actually, in 2014, Lee Yeon Hee said that SM essentially does allow them to date, they just aren’t allowed to get caught. That’s the primary reason as to why it becomes a scandal. It has nothing to do with legal obligations and all that bloody banter. The fact remains that, as long as they don’t get caught, it is technically legal and to terms of their contracts to stay within relationships. Also, it wouldn’t cause a “huge” problem in regards to SM’s reputation. If SM gave a big enough shit, they would tighten their security and guidelines in regards to romantic relationships between contractors. The fact that they haven’t proves how little they care - thus leading me to believe that the possibility of a potential relationship between a former SM member and a current one is completely plausible. 

Aside from that, Luhan’s main conflict with SM was settled in late 2016. Luhan, by this standpoint, has no association with SM, therefore can no longer be told to meet any sort of standard that they demand. This means that, even IF SM had a problem with Sehun and Luhan being romantically involved, the likeliness that they could act out upon it is pretty implausible, since it’s within Luhan’s rights to be with who he wants. In fact, the fact that Luhan is no longer involved with SM actually makes their relationship a little less abrasive, since Luhan has no legal obligations. 

Also, the fact that EXO promotes in Japan does not mean they spend more time in Japan, it just means they’re expanding globally, which is what a lot of groups do. It has nothing to do with their travels, nor does it mean they would be spending any more time in Japan than they would have before (unless they decided to do a Japan specialised tour, which is unlikely). The fact still remains that Sehun most likely spends the most time in China outside of SK, because it just makes sense with all things considered. Just because EXO is expanding, does NOT mean the connection between the chinese and Korean relations is shrinking. IT. DOESN’T. WORK. LIKE. THAT.

I mean, I think the fact that Xiuhan was prime during Exo showtime era is why a lot of HunHan shippers believe it’s just a promotional stunt. (I’m not saying that’s true, I’m just saying it’s a plausible argument). The reason why hunhan is so popular is primarily because, regardless of the fact that HunHan wasn’t as prominent during promotional eras, Sehun and Luhan still showed signs of being attracted to one another, romantically and/or platonically. 

If you don’t support HunHan though, I get you man. Honestly, it is a lot easier to ship something that’s shoved down your throat rather than a latter ship. Though, you have to give credit to the HunHan fandom for being so dedicated as to keep its popularity at peak.
