“What would you recommend someone who has about twenty more minutes of lunch break left before she has to hurry back to work?” Gemma questioned as she leaned against his food truck.

“Well that depends,” he leaned over on the service counter of the truck. “We have to account for spill factor. How steady of a hand do you have when eating?”

“Somehow I feel you wouldn’t be the only one. I see the occasional stares at the annoying tour guests, but no one really wants to be the one to open their mouth. And I’d rather keep my job.” She laughed softly. “That’s not too bad, I’m sure everyone has done something like that at the least. Oh, of course. Though never to the point of telling them he made me cum twelve times an hour.”
“Really so there have never been no know-it-all guest that you were ready to just strangle?” He pretended to push for more information. “I’m sure they have but there were some that really just didn’t know when to quit. Mmm yeah I think it would have been impressive if they could have made you even once.”

“That’s definitely true. You can’t really call someone out on their bullshit while giving a tour through the classics.” She was fairly sure that wouldn’t be appreciated by both her boss and the rest of the tour group. “That would definitely be impressive. Please don’t tell me you made up imaginary girlfriends too? Or even worse, pretend to be dating actual girls.”
“Though I would absolutely love to be on a tour where I could witness that,” he admitted with a slight raise of the brow. “God, no. The most I did was fib on how far I got but I didn’t reach that level of pathetic. You can’t tell me you never tried to impress your girlfriends about a guy.”

“They finally mastered it, huh? To be fair, I don’t really make a habit out of talking to strangers outside of work.” A laugh slipped her lips at his comments on the boys’ sleepovers. “And what exactly does that entail when no one actually has any experience whatsoever?”
“That is the way to do it. Though at work is when it can be the most infuriating because you have to limit your responses,” he shook his head. “Oh it is just a whole lot of bullshit that no one will call out because they don’t know any better either. Unless Jack really did make a girl cum 12 times in an hour.”

“Right, that does seem like entirely too much effort.” Gemma nodded, though a smile steadily resided on her face. “What do boy sleepovers look like then?”
“Have you talked to people as of late? They have mastered the art of being completely exhausting.” There was a reason he preferred to cook more than be at the front of the food truck. “Really it was pretty simple video games and talk about sex that no one was actually really having.”

“You know, those were a very different type of sleep over. Half the time I’m pretty sure I didn’t have any clothes on at all by the end of it.”
Luca took a second and smiled as if pulling up a very specific image in his head. “You’re right. This may come as a shock but I much rather being having one of those types.”

“Don’t get me wrong, you look good but always preferred you in my shirts when we had our sleepovers.”

“Then you might need to find yourself a new partner.” Gemma chuckled as she glanced at the game. “The only thing our sleepovers seem to have in common are games like ‘truth or dare’ and maybe an occasional pillow fight.”
“See but then I would have to get to know someone to do that and that is just not something I am looking to do currently in this stage of my life,” he explained with barely a hint of a smile. “Mmm yeah a boys sleepover looks a lot different.”
“I can’t promise you I’ll be the best teammate for this one, I’m not even entirely sure how this game works in the first place.”
“Well this is already a disappointing start. I don’t settle for second place,” he teased hardly taking any of this seriously.
It was easy for Bridget to get drinks. Not only was she well known, she was pretty and her energy just got her what she wanted. The crowds basically parted for ways for her and there were plenty of people offering as well. But she couldn’t say the same for everyone else. Finally, Bridget had enough of it and after watching the same person get passed over again and again, she left her little area and easily made her way to the bar. “Hi…” She flashed her perfect smile at the bartender, “Sorry, I know you’re really busy but you seem to keep missing my friend here and that just doesn’t seem fair.” Bridget turned to the person and pulled their arm so that they could see the bartender, “What are you having?”
Luca took advantage of having a night nurse for his day today. Usually he took advantage and slept but he needed to get out. Why he chose this bar he was questioning as he stood there in the crowd being ignored by the bartender. “I’ll take a Sazerac,” he put in the order, turning to Bridget. “Thank you. Is this the perks of being blonde in a bar?”

“Mmm, I know it may be hard to believe but I don’t really have time to be selfish anymore.” She said it jokingly but really, Jamie couldn’t help but feel a drop of guilt lingering as she thought about Ley. That secret she’d kept closely guarded to her chest yet something she had always been intending on telling him. Tonight however was not the night for that. “So does that mean I can steal a kiss or are you going to make me beg for it?”
“Being a single mom can’t be easy,” he recognized. He knew with Jamie that she was a dedicated mom. He didn’t have to see her in action to know. “And with working full time you have a lot on your shoulders. Has he adjusted to life here?” Luca squeezed her waist. “Maybe a little begging wouldn’t hurt,” he teased, leaning down any way.

“I grew up in a very prestigious family of course I’m capable,” she feigned an uppity little expression. “What’s on the menu? Do I have options?”
“Oh I know. Which surprises me that you are this way,” he gave her a look over as she came in. “There are cannolis in the fridge or you can make your own ice cream taco,” he gestured to the waffle shells on the back counter.

Gemma: Oh, I haven't actually been to Chicago yet, but I heard it's a great place to be. Why did you come back here? I know, I'm a great inspiration to every little terror in the world. Oh, no. Mom didn't work, she visited her family there all the time.
Luca: You have to go. It's a beautiful city and with the warm weather finally coming there isn't a better time. My dad was in an accident a few years back and lives with me and I wanted to live somewhere a little smaller. So she never took you on these trips?

“You’re really making it sound like I’m usually some kind of asshole,” Gemma chuckled as she shook her head lightly. “I’m not saying that wasn’t the cause,” She hummed. “Had to do something in the absence of a parent, might as well learn to appreciate history, great artists, great writers… Find company in books and documentaries on them.” She paused for a second. “God, that really sounds pathetic, looking back now.”
“Don’t be offended. I find most people to be some kind of asshole. Just depends on the kind that they are with whether I’ll like them or not,” he explained, only half joking. Luca nodded as she explained, understanding though he was lucky enough to have his sister in all of it as well. “It’s not pathetic. It was the life you were given. It’s nice to be able to escape into others.”
gemmamariano:
“That could also work, yes, but if you prefer the first, we’ll just stick with that.” Gemma chuckled. “That’s definitely true – if they would’ve just taught us museum etiquette themselves, we definitely would’ve been less of a brat. Although, it seems like having a nanny might just be the reason one forms an appreciation for art and history.”
“Who would have thought you to be so agreeable?” His smile grew even warmer as he heard her laugh. “You have a point there,” he nodded in thought. “So you are saying that we ended up even more cultured because our mother’s wanted nothing to do with our fundamental years?”

Gemma: That's definitely true. Did you grow up here? Or some other place without grass? Pretty much, yes. Oh, all sorts of things. She mostly went back and forth between China and Italy -- meaning that I barely ever saw her.
Luca: Was born here but I grew up in Chicago. So my nanny bringing my sister and I to Millennium Park was the only time I had a yard to play. Who would have known you were what Nanny 911 episodes were made of? Wow. Was this for work that she did all that traveling?
