So what would you think of me now, so lucky, so strong, so proud? I never said thank you for that, now I’ll never have a chance. May angels lead you in. Hear you me my friends. On sleepless roads the sleepless go. May angels lead you in.

And We were Born to Lose || Drabble
Chaos. Everything was chaos. There was fire and he wasn’t sure where it might have originated from – dragons or wands, it was anyone’s guess. He could hear shouting, see the lights from spells flying, but he wasn’t moving. Maybe if he’d have been a smarter man he would have run, but the thought had never even come to mind. The only thing that came to mind was to stand his ground at the nursery. Most of the hatchlings were still too small to do any real damage on their own. Leaving them to fend for themselves would have been a mistake, it was something he couldn’t do. However, they hadn’t been completely alone. On of the first hatchlings that Luke had ever worked with had been in with the rest of them. She was healing, and though Luke was almost sure she could have handled herself on a normal day, the look in her eyes was fear or maybe it was something closer than panic. That was when he knew that he couldn’t leave them. He wouldn’t.
Everything that was going on around him seemed like it was in slow motion. His fingers flexed around his wand, as his palms grew sweaty. After what felt like a lifetime, he could see figures coming towards him. Features coming into focus with each step closer. His arm moved absentmindedly, shooting any spell he could think of to keep them at bay. But for ever one he knocked down, another got back up and came harder.
He didn’t have time to think, he couldn’t process the the flash of green that came at him. He barely saw it before the world around him started to fade, and then it all went black before he could hit the ground. The world around him had stopped, Lucas Clark was a memory.
hestiajonesing:
Well, aren’t you the sweetest.
Sometimes.
hestiajonesing:
I might get crankier sooner than you’d expect, that’s all. Daunting, I know.
If you start getting to be too much to handle, I’ll go find some peahs, and problem solved.
hestiajonesing:
Not in the slightest. Especially not if you happen to have any pears.
And if I happen to be fresh out of peahs, does that change things?
hestiajonesing:
No. I’m all by my lonesome.
So you wouldn’t be completely opposed to my company, then?
djcavanagh:
Probably because they’re part of the Commonwealth and want to sight see? I’ve never had poutine, no.
Then take my word fah it, it makes you nevah want to leave Canada.
djcavanagh:
London is a fairly popular tourist destination, I end up talking to a lot of folks from different countries. Ran into some Canadians a few days ago.
Fair point. Why would Canadians want to come here, have you evah tried poutine? It’d make me nevah want to leave home.
ilyssaarnold:
I think I need a second opinion.
On what?
djcavanagh:
Where about? Sounds like–Boston?
Spot on, man.
djcavanagh:
On vacation, or do you live here?
Live here, for now at least. Might end up going back someday.
djcavanagh:
Yeah, Man U. American?
I am indeed.
djcavanagh:
Was there a match today? Fuck, I can’t believe I missed it.
Big socc– ah, football fan I gathah?
djcavanagh:
I guess I need to double check the paper then, see if something happened.
My best guess is a lot of people lost money betting on some game, anything biggah than that & I think everyone would have heard about it by now.
djcavanagh:
Doesn’t make much sense, does it? It’s a bloody Monday night, you’d think people would be at home with their families.
Maybe this Monday hit everyone pahticularly hard, and they have to cope before going home.
djcavanagh:
Nah, you’re fine if you want the seat.
Thanks. The place is a bit moah packed than I expected.
