Bio ✰
Lucas was born and raised in Sydney, Australia to Minjoon and Yuna Bang. His parents made sure to teach him about his culture as well as make sure he knew how to speak both English and Korean at a young age. Just after he started his first year in school, his little sister was born who he adores a ton. As he got older, Lucas found himself getting more interested in art which then turned into getting more into getting the chance to tattoo his art onto someone. He only kept it as a side things he was interested in since he knew he wanted to make sure he had a job that he'd do well in especially for his parents sake.
Lucas one day decided to buy his own tattoo gun along with the fake skin to practice so he could at least try his hand at this. The more he practiced, the more he decided that this is what he wanted to do as a career. it was a risk but one Lucas was willing to take. After that, he kept up with his schooling as well as decided to become an tattoo apprentice for a tattoo artist he had admired a ton growing up. His parents warmed up to the idea of this as long as he kept up his studies in case anything happened.
After years of learning to tattoo and getting to his portfolio together as well as build up connections, he finally got to be a tattoo artist himself. He even got to do appointments for celebrities which still leaves him awestruck. He decided to move to Aurora Bay since he felt it was the best place for him. He's currently working away and travels a lot for his job while also keeping in touch with his family whenever he can.
⤷ Who: OPEN ˎˊ˗ @aurorabaystarter
➝ Where: the Aurora Bay Farmer's Market, Pumpkin Patch
➝ When: Sunday Afternoon
"I need some expertise. Or just an opinion, really." He turned, holding two pumpkins in each arm, one a tiger stripe and the other a khaki — two odd, but rather neat-looking pumpkins, "... Which one should I go with?" He smiled, "It's for a modest household of one looking to spruce up their balcony."
Looking between the two pumpkins as he listened to the other male talk, Lucas thought carefully. Both were nice looking pumpkins and he was sure they'd both look great in any home. "Honestly, I really the tiger stripe one. I feel that one would look good on a balcony."
——- Holding the cold water he got for himself after, grinning some when lucas took the drink he needed. ❝ sounds very stressful, ❞ was all he managed out do to the dark hitting them before taking a moment to allow himself to adjust to the dark before he moved his free hand to his pants pocket. pulling out his phone, turning the screen on, unlocking it then turning the flashlight on before walking over to the window to look out. ❝ definitely is an outage. i can see a lot of darkness. there's a few places that probably have a generator. i believe i have some candles though i could light so it's not so dark for us. ❞ alister smiled softly as he looked towards the other for a moment has he walked back over to where they both were originally.
"It really is. Like I need some direction." he muttered before seeing the room become shrouded in darkness. His eyes were wide as he stayed in his spot. He didn't wanna move and risk knocking something over. Looking over once seeing Alister going over towards the window, he lets out a sigh. "At least it's only that and some places are lit up. Let's use the candles though. We can either stay here or leave to one of the place that have lights on." Lucas muttered, keeping his gaze on the other. He was fine either way since he enjoyed the company of the other male.
"Mostly a lot of tales of people's bad life choices." Which she thoroughly enjoyed, no matter how ridiculous. Lots of drunk decisions, infidelity, and people arguing with their partners. "I've never seen a drunk tattoo go exactly to plan."
"Go ahead. There's a bowl of quarters next to it, so pick whatever you'd like."
"Those are always outrageous. People have some interesting lives. I'll just say it that way." He always told his friends the wild stories he heard and he knew he was always in awe. "It never does. It's a bit hard to tattoo someone who has drank a lot."
"Really? I'll be sure to then. Got a few classics that I'd enjoy hearing." He mused as he went over to the jukebox and ranking his brain to figure out what song he was gonna go with. He landed on Here I go Again by Whitesnake before going back to the bar.
"Alright, be honest with me…is adulting just Googling shit and pretending to manage this overwhelming mountain of anxiety?" Clearly, the schema of social media and technological advancement has changed the playing field after all. "I need a time machine to take me back to when I was five and my sole worries were not having my CapriSun with my snack and missing Dragon Tales." It was a constant thought for the last week while working five shifts in a row. Tossing a fry in her mouth, Ava added, "Would you go back to the past for nostalgia or check into the future with no possibility to change the outcome?"
"I mean it seems that way. Also calling your parents whenever Google decides not to help you." He's not afraid to admit that he's done that a few times. "That would be great. I'd love to go back and not have to worry about a thing." It made him always wish to be a kid since they always say the world in fascinating ways. Plus then he wouldn't have to worry about a job either which was a plus in his eyes. "I'd go back in the past honestly. I am fueled by nostalgia so I'd wanna see the things that I loved as a kid before they were taken away."
——- Walking over to his mini fridge and grabbing a couple waters out, handing one to lucas before sitting across from him in his chair, as he would with clients, mostly just relaxing with a friend. ❝ did they have this like concept idea and like no design to give you anything to work with ? ❞ so had minds so creative and out there, but without at least a basic concept drawn out or written, alister wasn't sure how one could start something. at that moment the lights cut out and the brit muttered under his breath. ❝ think it's just an outage ? maybe we should find out ? ❞ he questioned looking up towards the lights then in the direction of where lucas was, the confusion clear in his voice.
He took the water gently, giving a small thanks to the other before making sure to take a drink from it. This felt nice and the tense feeling in his shoulders finally went away which he appreciated. "Yeah. It made it so much harder on me. Like I could take it anywhere but that makes it even worse." It had been on his mind for a bit and he had so many drafts made that he hoped the client would pick at least one of them. His eyes instantly widened as he tried to adjust to the dark. He wasn't scared of the dark but something about this made him feel on edge a bit. "Yeah, let's find out. Would make me feel better seeing that it's all just an outage." he looked back at him, swallowing a bit.
Eddie laughed with a nod of his head in agreement. Beers were not his first drink of choice, but he did enjoy a good beer. He'd hate to be put off by a mid-level experience. It was the very reason he didn't go to most of the bars in town. "Married to the job? You gotta make some time for play, mate. There's more to life than work." he said, while browsing at the different IPAs on the menu. Once one of the staff arrived, he put in his order and waited for his friend to do the same. "Have you at least been travelling a bit?"
Lucas usually wouldn't go for a beer when he had a choice at different bars but sometimes he craved the taste of a good beer. There was just something about it he craved at times. At least he hoped this was better than what some of the bars offered even if he was at a few of them more often than he'd like to admit. "I know. You aren't the first to tell me that. I gotta leave my home more often." He sighed as he browsed menu himself. He put in his own order before turning back to his friend. "Yeah, I've traveled a bit. Even got a trip booked to visit my family in a few months."
"Oh, absolutely." Layla agrees, "You're never short for conversation about patrons on a Saturday night. You overhear everything. The people who sit at the bar during the week love to learn all about the crap I overhear."
"The jukebox here is pretty good. It has definitely seen better days, but I'm pretty sure it's older than me. You should check it out."
"I can only imagine what you've heard." Lucas muses, "People love to overshare when they've had a few drinks in them. I've dealt with a few clients who've wanted to get tattoos while wasted and hear some wild things."
"I mean, I can believe it and honestly I'd love to check it out. I'm sure I could find something I know to play on it."
——- Finishing up with his clinet, having time to kill before there'd be another when lucas came in, and a smile crossed alister's lips immediately upon seeing his new friend. ❝ glad you did and feel free to sit and chill for a bit. got a good amount of time before my next client. ❞ standing up from his chair to stretch his legs and moving some around his office. ❝ talk away. would you perhaps like a water ? ❞ he asked as he turned on his heel to face lucas again as a couple flickers of light caught him off guard but for now, he brushed it off as nothing. lights did that sometimes.
Lucas easily took a seat, letting out a sigh that he didn't know he was holding in. It felt nice and it got him away from his work station area he had at home. Plus being around a friend was much better at the end of the day. "Sure, I'd enjoy a water. I had a client today that wanted such an out there tattoo and I don't even know how to start their idea." he spoke. He wasn't upset but he had more work cut out for him. Before he could speak more, he noticed the flicker and confusion instantly took over his face. That was odd but maybe it wasn't gonna be something more. At least he hoped it wouldn't be.
"You know you're always welcomed." Kang said, taking back the joint. "What about my face on there? Since you love me and all that. I'm pretty nasty in realism." the man said, obviously just to fuck with his friend and fellow tattoo buddy. "Don't work too hard, man. Gotta make time for some fun here and there."
"I appreciate it. I enjoy coming by once in awhile." Lucas mused, always all for seeing the other whenever he had time to. "Oh, that would be interesting. Don't know how I'd feel having someone's face tattooed on me though." A laugh escapes his lips even though he knows others have done the same. "I'm trying not to. I've gone out more with others instead of declining their offers."

location: alister's office at horizons therapy center (just before the black out)
Lucas had gotten closer to Alister especially after their mini golf session so in his mind, that meant and impromptu visit to the other at work. He made sure not to do so when the other didn't have a client so they could chat a bit. He felt he needed to vent a little and get his mind off of the current tattoo he was working on. Once at the other's office, he opened the door and peeked inside.
"Hey! Thought I'd stop by." He mused, giving a smile as he stepped in. His eyes instantly looked around before his gaze landed back on the other male. "Thought I'd talk your ear off if you don't mind." He knows he didn't share much with others so doing so with Alister felt a bit foreign.
"Dive bars don't really have the best acoustics, I guess. When it's busy in here, you can barely hear yourself think. But when it's empty, it's actually pretty nice."
"It depends. The boss and I like a lot of old stuff." Rather fitting to be playing out of a jukebox, she notes, "I'm sure Celeste pumps her own stuff when she closes."
"That's true and you end up over hearing every single conversation. At least it feels like that. It really is and let's you enjoy yourself a bit more."
"You can go wrong with old stuff honestly. I always go for older music if I have the choice." Plus it's what his parents got him into so it's one way he can connect to them especially with them living in Australia still. "I can imagine she does. I'd do the same. I'm always playing my music with my job unless my clients ask to play their own music.
Kangmin chuckled lightly before offering the joint out to Lucas. "I mean, I guess." he said, rolling his eyes playfully. "Although a pop of color would suit you nice. How' you been, man?"
Lucas easily took in, taking a drag before hanging it back. "You guess?" He questioned before letting out a laugh. "A pop of color will be there when I feel like it. I add more color to my clients than myself." Not that he hated color but he always loved the look of what you could do with bold outlines and shading. "I've been good. Working and trying not to be married to the job as much."
"You and me both there, mate. I'm always unsure if they're just being nice, plus I help with the press here so - unsure how I'll do romantically here." A nervous chuckle left him, but he smiled slightly still. Shyne hadn't dated much since his last relationship before writing entered his life then this job. They almost had it all with marriage and starting a family and now it had him unsure what he wanted there anymore. "I'd never push personally and it's a good think I'm not the one asking and reporting. I'm more helping it get printed and such." Made him feel less bad, but it was known he worked for the news, so he was still very careful, always saying he'd not share much. He rarely did. Shyne watched curiously until Lucas took a drink and then he smiled and gave a nod. "I call it a talent. I have a really good nose and could just guess what it was by smelling it." It was his own little unneeded talent he rarely shared.
"Exactly! I don't wanna assume that someone is flirting if they are just being nice. I mean I get that. I just don't put myself out there and keep to myself so I'm useless in the romance department." He sighed a little before laughing. His last relationship had been when he was in university. They had broken up on good terms but he hadn't tried to date again after that. It just wasn't on his radar. "That's true so you don't have to be the one that gets the secrets that some are so obvious about. I mean being behind the scenes seems much safer as well." He knew others got angry and pointed blame when certain parts of their life got shared even if they were the ones who ended up not being careful. "That's cool. I never thought anyone would know my order besides me. I'm impressed here."
As a businessman, he couldn't help but look at it from a profitable lens and how he would make it different to increase the revenue. But all in all, the owners had a good idea and were supporting local small business at the same time. Not that he would do the same, in-house food would put more money in his pockets, but it was nice that the owners were more conscious of the town and what would best benefit it.
“Same here, to be honest,” he said with a grin. “Fingers crossed the beers are decent too.” He scanned the menu, a few options catching his eye. “But how’ve you been, mate? I thought I was hard to pin down, but you’ve got me beat.”
Now Lucas didn't explore too much since work was always on his mind but he love seeing the different places he didn't even visit. It was even better with a friend that he hadn't seen in a bit. Plus drinks with friends was nice and he was all for doing it much more instead of hiding away.
"Crossing my fingers for that as well. Don't want my impression to change due to horrible beer." He laughs a bit before looking at the menu himself. At least a few things seemed good that he wanted to try. "I've been good. Been working. I mean, I'm married to my job so I guess I've been hiding away and focused on that." He laughed again, knowing he could be locked away for days when he was focused.
"Probably." Layla chuckles, reaching for a fresh rag to start rubbing at the small glass stain with her thumb, "But at least you picked a good time of night. It's usually pretty dead at this point. People will clear out and the staff will turn the jukebox onto the songs we like."
Lucas sipped from his drink more, his eyes looking around before he looked back at her. "It seems I did. I like that it's not too dead and I can enjoy myself without think I need to leave due to it being too rowdy. Though I wouldn't mind hearing the song the staff likes." Usually he'd still be in his home, working away instead of taking a break like this.
"perhaps, it we allow it to happen as well. i tend to be a bit romantically closed off, so might need to work on that one. yes, friends do and i appreciate having them." shyne had a bit of trust issue after an ex and how they almost had it all, but it ended. it left him wondering what he truly wanted from fully settling down to just more a life partner. "they don't, so it's nice that i'm not really the one doing it. i just - i more help things get into print and such. i believe in privacy and wish i could just sit and listen to them, but when they know my work, i get being suspicious." it was the one part of his job that always got to him and there was more interesting topics over who was with who and doing what. shyne spoke with the barista for a moment before he was waiting for a bit for the drink to be prepared before he returned to the other man and sat with him, setting the drink down before him. "give it a try. i feel that's exactly what you ordered."
"Yeah, that's the harder thing. I tend to be a bit oblivious if someone likes me unless they are straight forward. I mean I get that and it takes time. They keep you sane with everything going on." Lucas has dated before but it was always harder for him to get into relationships. His focus was always everywhere else and he didn't like making people feel like they were on the back burner if he could help it. "I mean it makes it better. Going out to get the story seems to make them wanna keep their guard up. I mean I get it. Anything I know, someone would have to pry it out of me. I'm not sharing what some have told me ever." Plus then his clients would know he said something. He has a trust with them for a reason and he's not gonna break that at all. He looks around a bit, his eyes taking in each patron that is also in the place. It's nice and quiet which he appreciates. Seeing the drink, he can't help but smile at the smell alone. He takes a sip after hearing Shyne's words before a look of awe takes over his face. "Wow! How did you even know?"
