not that they’ve explored it nearly as much as they should be but codypunk is genuinely the most ive seen punk care about someone in this current run without ulterior motives or the relationship being based on how much power the other person has. like after war games even through his anger at losing punk was still checking on cody. that random tender cheek kiss cody gave punk after wrestlepalooza. I fear it will not last especially when you add drew and seth to the mix but big fan of what they got going on right now

There is like this understanding between them too. Like they both want to be at the very top. Like in their two segments before the Rumbles they have this tension based on how much they care about one another but also this desire to be better. It’s like they are able to understand that it’s about competition. They can compete and still be friends.

Another fascinating thing is Punk put his rivalry with Seth on hold because Cody asked him too. If it was anyone else, I don’t think Punk would have done it.

I love how since his return, Punk has constantly called Cody his friend. “My friend Cody.” “My good friend Cody.” “I get to team with my friend.” “Will we still be friends Sunday morning?” “I’ll always be your friend.”
